The OP may not have meant it this way, but

** iPad = iTunes vending machine

is a positive attribute!

Why do people buy from vending machines... some reasons are: that they have what we want; they're easy to use; they're everywhere we are; they're convenient and they provide instant gratification.

Apple, Investors and Customers benefit from:

**iPad = iTunes vending machine

What's not to like?

Because it's still a monopoly that sends the $$$ Apple's way.

CNet's Top 5 reasons NOT to buy an iPad:

"It's still unilaterally linked to iTunes."

For all the screaming of Microsoft's monopoly, they sure like to turn a blind eye to Apple's. But I will give you it's got a convenience factor, just like you said. See? I can point out a fault and an advantage. No personally attacking other members. Just merely calmly pointing out +'s/-'s.

Can some YOU members do the same (or is it blinders on, stay the course, all hail King Steve?)?

Wow, how would you know you joined the forum in April 2010.

I've been banned many times. I won't tip the mods off to my previous usernames, but I've been keeping you fanboys humble for 1.5 years now. ;)

Oh, no. No need to thank me. It's MY pleasure! :D

Am I the only one that would love to have the ipad stuck to my back just like in Tron with the disks.

Walk outside, pop your hand above your shoulder, grab the ipad...then later put it back there. Since it was announced I have only been thinking about carrying it like that for some reason instead of in a carry bag or something.

Then imagine if as you are walking people can see what is on the screen. You could run videos, ads...there are all kind of fun stuff that you could do with that.

But mostly having some sort of magnetic attachment maybe with braces on your back would be awesome for when in commute. Maybe a strong magnetic shirt with strong earth magnets to hold it in place even when running lol.

I love it and I'm thinking this might be a new computer for a while.... Well at least till the updated MBP comes out. Typing is pretty good on it to be honest....

At my best buy at 5pm they had a bunch of them. I was tempted but I want to wait least until the next gen comes out. Im so glad I waited until the 3gs to get my iphone and I love it. I can definitely see it as a great surfing device compared to my net book or my full sized laptop.

Funny I love it when this was announced everone said this is gonna flop etc etc I knew once people got there hands on one they will be in love with it :D

Two different sets of people. The set that said it's going to flop most likely still think that way. The set that bought one believe it will succeed, and that is who you are largely hearing from in this thread.

Note: people have flipped between the two sets (both ways), and will continue to do so over time.

Wow, turn off the computer and go outside.

Oh, I'm sorry.... I was under the impression this post/thread was called:

"More iPad First Impressions and Discussion"

Not:

"Gush about the iPad and shoot the messenger for pointing out faults"

Glad MR has your eagle eye to catch such mistakes, sport. ;) :D

With so many people fixated on hardware, software and network, features and benefits, I would like to see posts and threads about LIFESTYLE CHANGES and things that heretofor were impractical or inconvenient without an iPad.

This will tell real people in real terms, "What's this thing good for?"

Just Rocketman

The portability of the display is the game changer. Making it fast and making it work enables it to be successful but the notion that you have a portable display with nothing attached is the killer app. It reminds me of the adage "the best camera is the one you have with you". Yes, a full size DSLR with a bag of lenses takes fantastic pictures, but you con't carry that everywhere you go. Similarly, an iMac or MBP has way more power and more resolution, but you don't carry those everywhere either. The iPad changes things because it pretty easily goes where you go. I can see using this for impromptu presentations or other explanations. I can see using this for looking stuff up either by an internet search or from stored textbooks. The bookmark feature in iBook is very nice.

I found the iPad lighter than expected and smaller. The execution is fantastic. The display looks really great. It is just there. It doesn't overpower you with brightness yet all the details are there. As others have said, the iPad tends to disappear and you focus on the content. Touching the screen is very natural. The implementation is great.

So, when you turn 13 and discover girls do you think this wasted endeavor is going to impress them?

Cool Toy

It looks like a cool toy. I might get my kid one once his Macbook dies (which appears to be soon). He mainly surfs the net and watches youtube, so this little thing will be perfect for him. Plus it only costs about half as a new macbook.

However, no content that costs $ for him, free only. That is the only way to make it cost/value effective.

Its not a MacBook Replacement yet... but a few more good apps and I bet it could.

Dear Apple,

Please put the @ symbol on the "front" page of the keyboard like you do with the iPhone.

Otherwise, neat gizmo.

Bugger. All the haters have put me right off. Honest :D

Yeah as if. Roll on european release!!!

Anyone else feel the same?

Ha! I've noticed this too. After using the iPad for a few hours, when picking up the iPhone, it feels SOOOOO SMALL and cramped! Like a little toy. Your hands get used to the iPad, and after it becomes comfortable to hold and use, it makes the iPhone seem so delicate and tiny. I have to squint to see the small screen on the iphone now. My eyes and hands are adjusting to the iPad very quickly.

its pretty good living in the uk as we get it late april, so you americans are like our gini pigs finding all the problems so when we get it it should be almost perfect

Nice try with the psychology to make yourself feel better because you can't get it right now. It ain't workin'. Just about everyone that bought one is having the best experiences. :p
