no multi touch screens

bj3949 Why no Multi-Touch Screen on new MBP?

Will someone please tell me why Apple won't do this? Why are they keeping the Multi-Touch strictly to the keypad?

its wouldn't be the "apple way"
apple has allways been for a slow aproach.

eventually it they will announce a computer or monitor with the multi touch included.
the mutli touch trackpad is just the first step on the road.

by the way it would be to soon to announce such a product, it will be a drastical change on how we use labtops, it would be to sudden, to soon for us buyers and to soon for the industry.

:apple:

OK exciting news, BUT.. What would you guys feel if Apple comes up with Montevina MBP three months later (in June)?? Gosh this whole thing is driving me nuts :-(

might this just be the arrival of the time capsules?

i'm all for the new mbp's, but i also know that time capsules are due to arrive any time now and that might be what is getting sent to the stores now.

i'm hanging out for the media event where apple says they're changing their name back to 'apple computers' because they've realised they are just a computer company.

but i'd settle for a mbp, because i need it by march 14!!!

this just in....

thousands of truck convoys carrying the apple logo have been spotted all over the world today .

sources say they seem to be carrying boxes the size of a macbook pro.

it all points to the imminent release of the MBP.

edit: we cannot now confirm this, as conflicting sources say that they could be the new updated lisa computer that has been delayed for 25 years, but speculate the boxes most lightly carry toasters......no...really, apparently consumption of toast has gone through the roof...especialy on tuesdays

cant.....wait....much......... long......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yes, its time to bring back the thread on iToaster !!!
;)

Ok .. let me break it down for you...

Ford are not going to put a 600bhp engine in a ***** car... when they can sell a shiny cool car for $$$ with the 600bhp engine it it?

Its business 101... increasing sales across multiple markets...

The MacBook Pro is not a "***** car". It's Apple's top of the line laptop! It's way overdue for a complete revision. Introducing a MacBook Touch or MacBook Pro (Touch) would be the hottest selling item since iPhone. I think Apple is going to update the MacBook Pro we all have with multi-touch keypad, and then in June or Jan. '09, introduce the all-new MBP Touch.

i think tuesdays should now be called 'Apple disappointment days'

pass the prozac round

Maybe the MacBook Pro refresh was delayed since they were going to include HD DVD drives in it. The swap-out put the new MacBook release 3 weeks behind schedule. :D

If & When

I've been waiting for months at this stage for my shiny new MBP, I don't think I can be disappointed on another Tuesday...
Page 1 news is good stuff, though I'm similarly skeptical that this may simply be the promised 'Time Capsule'.

If the MBPs do ship on Tuesday, how long till they reach Apple Stores in the US? Days/Weeks??

p.s. Anodised colour aluminium would be pretty cool if they revamp the casing (with the equally cool multitouch trackpad!), any thoughts?

Ok - Im not saying the MBP is ***** - all I am saying is that Apple would rather open a new segment than update the existing segment. Remember that its a monumental leap to go from keyboards to touch-screen. These things start mega high end and depending on take-up proliferate down through the business lines over many generations.

Secondly, touch screen as I see it here in Cali, appears to be for people who wanna look cool and get laid as opposed to professional people who wanna work, hence MBP(rofessional)...

steve jobs bday

today is his bday i only know this cause tomorrow is my bday. so maybe there will be some kind of sdk/ s jobs bday celebration this week./ mine

But don't you think by this June, it's finally time for that incredible new MBP Touch?

Also, the touch screen in Cali theory is untrue. Yes, people like to show it off, but it's user-friendliness and it's functionality is better than anything out there.

Wouldn't there have been drops in the delivery times at the Apple store or some tell-tale shortages in Mac inventories? I haven't seen any posts here about that. I'm leaning toward this not happening, especially with the iMac. It's starting to look like Apple's doing this year what they did with the iMac last time around, which is significant updates once-per-year. Sort of pathetic, really. Their line-up should be updated no less than 3 times a year. There's no real excuse for not doing that and if Apple can't do that, they should drop the prices off over the lifetime of the machine.

Ehhh, nope.
I can see from you're past posts you need this touch-screen like a sick person needs some drugs but face facts... you're going to be waiting a few years yet ...Sorry dude!

:(

I remember when Apple made the switch from using Core Duo to Core 2 Duo processors. They were first put into the iMac's and then a month later into the MacBook Pro's followed by a month later the MacBook's. I think it is very possible that we could see new iMacs this week and when Apple does have an event next month, we'll see a redesigned MacBook Pro.

Agreed. These units are expected in Feb. Arn, is there evidence suggesting these midweek shipments may very well be more than just Time Capsules?

rrr

ya, it's pretty clearly not time capsule.

If only so we can stop having every thread hijacked "that's nice...but I still hate Apple for not giving me my deserved MacBook Pro update!"

Sheeesh.

You'd be here right along with us if you were waiting too.

Ford aren't going to make a Focus with a Shelby engine now are they ???

Dude, if anything the MBA is the Focus and the MBP is the Shelby. The Shelby would have power...something the MBP has and the MBA does not. The Focus is the one that is all about being small, economy, etc.

For comparision reasons, the Mac Pro would be a Koenigsegg or a Bugatti Veyron.

I work in an office with 30 people.
20 of them are single and 20 of them have iphones and all of then say it boosts they "pulling capabilities" ...

Course, thats meterialistic cali for you...

"hey its Saturday, lets go out and spend some money on, like, anything dude"
