The way I see it, if there is a major revision to MBP, Apple would rather do it later than tomorrow. MBP needs updating on multiple fronts, processor, multitouch, keypad, video chip set, bigger HDD, etc etc.. and if these are to be done for the next update, they would rather call a press meet and update MBP along with the release of iPhone/iPod Touch SDK, instead of a calm web/store update.

MB and iMac on the other hand would get minor upgrades (AL MB(?), bigger RAM/HDD for iMac), which could possibly be done as part of these ongoing tuesday updates.

I agree with itsmeok. MacBook Pro now needs major work and they don't want to fluff it.
People have stopped buying them unless they really have to.
It will take more time to sort out as they don't want to go off half cocked now or they will lose serious face. Apple will come through with something great, it's what they do, but it probably won't be tomorrow.

Great. :mad::eek:

So, the MacBook will be faster than the base MBP now? Wow.

exactly...simply impossible. Plus they have no Santa Rosa or non-Penryn update to apply to the Macbook...since it's all there..
Either both lines are getting upgraded, the non-Airs are getting merged, or something like that. It would be simply incredible if MBs get Penryn and MBPs remain as they are right now...

Are you serious with that question?

My Bad :D
I overlooked the text since I was too busy harassing an Apple employee on Chat. Trying to make him say "I would wait till tomorrow before I order the MBP !!"
But he won't say it... Damn it !!!
Instead he said "I would like to know who starts these rumors !"

Page 2 Update: More evidence from a Canadian reseller (prices in Candian dollars). Mid range MB403LL/A is described as MacBook (MACB) and sells for Candaian $1349.99, $100 cheaper than the current midrange MacBook.

OMG, if this is true then I love you Apple! I was going to order a MacBook earlier but my Mom wanted to wait since I go to use her credit card. Now Apple is dropping the price and there's an update. I'm happy, well if this is true :).

I'd hate for you to have to spend all that money on 117 day old hardware.

Where did this come from, Arn? I for one find it highly suspect. I mean come on, it describes the computer as a Macintosh Powerbook. Plus its from Canada! I would trust the inventory system of Best Buy and Apple over some, apparently old, Canadian inventory system that doesn't have a release date and describes the computer as a Powerbook! The only thing relevant in that picture is the model number, which someone could easily have just added to an old inventory system to screw with us. Oh, and don't forget the product description says 'Brown Goods.' Is that a subtle reference to PoS?

Dear God, Apple.

If you update the MacBook tomorrow and leave the MBP as is, then at least drop us a freaking clue as to what is going on with the MBP. I have a hard time believing a MacBook update to be true but that posted screen is rather convincing.

Shucks.

I was going to get a MacBook anyways, already planned to. I actually don't care about updates on products. Oh, and MacBook's/MacBook Pro's are overpriced here in Canada.

Bye Bye

I am out of this thread ........ i just cant take it anymore ............:apple: has gone crazy .. and i guess its better 4 me 2 buy a Vaio and install leopard on it ..........ADIOS :apple: ....................

Darn.... I JUST bought an 2.4 ghz MBP on friday....

but i guess i have 11 more days to return it since i got it from Futureshop....

I got it all set up and cozy and everything =/

what a hassle :(

there either
a) better be a worthwhile update
or
b) an incremental update so that its not worth my while to bring it back since i ended up getting a bit of a discount on this one anyways anyways...

any advice?

I agree. Perhaps I prefer ignorance.

BestBuy Canada uses this system.

BestBuy Canada uses this system.

Really? It seems pretty old. I'd have a hard time taking a retail store serious if they were looking up their products in that, but I don't know. Maybe there is more validity here than I am giving the picture credit for, or maybe I just really want a MBP, but I still find that picture very unconvincing.

Oh it's definitely old. Just imagine the situation when I was buying a 3G nano from them and the Visa reader was busted; the system would blink the green cursor at you and nothing would happen... Such fun...

Well wat wud u expect 4m MBP enthusiasts who have been waitin 4 nine months .. no dey say MacBook is being upgraded ...jus after117 days ...
u dont expect me 2 rejoice and wish all da best 2 those who r goin 2 buy
a MB .....................chill

I have some doubts regarding the authenticity of this picture .. it says Macintosh Powerbook ( as far as i know powerbook is the previous version MBP .. why would they refer a MB to that ?? )

No offense but the picture does not looks credible .. dates cannot be seen, information is missing ..... and who knows that might be a UK store .. i donno but further clarification wud serve gud.

Thanks Arn

definitely not a UK store. Last time I checked, the UK doesn't have provinces nor charge PST (Provincial Sales Tax).

This just in from the Dark Room....

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Steve Jobs in his Dark Room consulting the crystal ball. He was chanting "MacBookPro update - Tomorrow or make them wait?"
;)
Credit card locked and loaded just in case...
