We actually moved beyond that a few posts ago, but that's okay.

Out of curiosity - why do you think the base model will come in at 2.5 instead of 2.4?

why not .. the penryn T9300 (likely update : it costs the same as previous processor at its release date) runs on 2.5 ghz and not 2.4 .. u really expect the base model will be T8300 with 3MB L2 while the med range has a 6MB L2,,. nah ........ dats y

Yes everyone probably will be disappointed, after all this is MacRumors. Whenever anything is released people here whine, bitch and complain about it ad nauseam.

well....if the new mbps are released tomorrow, i'll probably just order one (1750 € here in germany at the apple only store for education) buy me a nice case to go with it: http://www.amazon.de/Tucano-Second-...UTF8&coliid=I3DMZHPB48MH19&colid=F70KA2N1NZGF

i'll also buy that one right here: http://www.amazon.de/Elgato-EyeTV-H...UTF8&coliid=I1Y9UAP7P7X2PA&colid=F70KA2N1NZGF

AND THEN, YOU'LL NEVER SEE ME HERE AGAIN

laughing evily

1, SwiftLives, you suckered me completely. I feel like a fool now, but it was a good gag! :D

Awwwww. Shucks.

In all seriousness - congrats on making the decision to purchase an Apple. It will bring you plenty of happiness and enjoyment. Well, as much as a group of components working together can....

Despite the rabidness of some of the folks around here, the MR community is always ready to help a switcher with purchasing decisions and any questions you may have.

So I feel like a bit of a fish out of water reading these posts, but it has been great fun reading all the ranting and gnashing of teeth waiting for the new ones. I'll almost miss all this when the new boys finally arrive! :D

dont worry, it never ends.

...

Here's a thought, if they do come out with new ones tomorrow, take a hammer to your old one. And I mean really go to town on that sucker.
Now, when the genius looks at the notebook, then back up at you, say all the alluminum just started crumpling right before your eyes, like it was imploding in on itself, and could you please, please, please, please, pretty please have a brand-spankin' new MBP?

It...just...might...work.

I lol'd

2, does anyone fancy joining me for a PC-smashing party? Possibly tomorrow? ;)

I just love to throw this Acer laptop i'm using right now into the sea. I'm so done with Windows: My era as MacFanboy will soon begin

Pleaaasee bring out new macbook PRO'S! I ám a pro, i need a pro!

Makes sense to me. Although, I'm just a little skeptical of there only being a 100mhz difference between the base and middle model when there's a $500 price difference. Apple has been known to offer slightly ickier tech as the standard base model in the hopes that you'll purchase the next one up.

That's the only reason I'm predicting a 2.4 gHz entry model.

good night from germany, over her its almost midnight and im going to bed. tomorrow we'll know more.

keep in mind:

no updates tomorrow --> something big in March

good night.

Thanks buddy. I nearly bought one about 3 years ago when I specced out a demon PC that my friend built for me. Needless to say it gave me 3 years of absolute nightmare (I swapped out every single component to no avail) and I've had a similar experience with virtually every PC I've used in that time. Whereas my brother maintains his PowerBook has crashed only twice in the years he's had it.

If I'd valued my PC-fixing time at £10 per hour, I could probably have bought an Aston Martin with the 'money' I spent on that blasted PC. ;)

The 500$ price justification wud b bcaus a better Graphics Processor ( 128/256MB more memory etc) and a slightly more capacity HD rather than 100mhz processor difference ... if u ask me both mid and base shud be 2.5 ghz while the 17" can take the 2.6ghz honor .. and they mid can have Bluray combo drive with slightly better specs .......but apple wud never do that ........ lets C

If (and it's a big if) Blu-Ray drive is offered, it will be a BTO option. Apple may be more inclined to offer a Blu-Ray drive now that the format war is over, but I certainly don't see it as a standard option anytime soon.

Also, traditionally, the mid-range 15" can be configured with the same specs as a 17".

Of course, this will all be moot when they don't actually release a MBP tomorrow.

I agree, wat i meant was .. it would be ideal if apple add it .. but they wont .. if they do at all it will be a BTO ( they will charge moolah upto $500 4 sure ) .. n yeah there might not be a MBP 2morow but thats the reason we all survive on forums like deze , aint it:D

Ha ha...Swiftlives is getting some people worked up with this one. Easy people...he admitted to it being a fake several posts ago. He was just having a little fun with white fonting.

Why am I envisioning a mob of angry mac fans storming Swiftlives house with burning Macworld magazines attached to 1st generation iPods?

Not worked up. Any fool can see they couldn't get that graphics card into a laptop. (yet)
Just fed up with the wasters.
Who spends that amount of time (OK maybe a whole 10 minutes) to fake up a picture just to mildly annoy people?

I hope this is the new MBP, it is my birthday tomorrow and i have been waiting for 2 months now. this sucks terribly. i just want to order the laptop and get on with my life.

P.S. ~ Everytime I come here to MacRumors i see a windows ad on the bottom or top of the page...i find that to be funny.

A waster!

Ouch. Not feeling the love. :D (no offense taken, though)

So - what graphics card are you expecting?

(By the way, this is where I lifted the graphics card info from...so I do think it's at least plausible.)

MB vs MA

I don't know what all the /A business is about. The current MBP models have the /A, but only the 17" does for the mid-2007 models.

Hmm.. interesting!!!
Dont know if you guys noticed, but the all the macbook pro's part numbers start with MA**** (http://support.apple.com/specs/). Of late, starting 2007, the macbooks have aquired the part numbers that start with MB**** .. which i guess gives more validity to the rumor on macbooks being updated rather than macbook pros. yikes!!

Oh well.. few more weeks of waiting... i wonder if apple updates iMac before MBP.. with the aggressive sale on refurbs an'oll..

Does anyone know how updates affect education discounts/promotions? In the T&Cs of the 'free iPod for students' promo it says nothing about new products, just that it needs to be purchased before May. what about the pricing?

I'm hoping that the MBP gets revised, and because of this revision the macbook gets some new features too - as thats what I'm more likely to buy (on size).

Just would rather the LCD/backlit keys/multi-touch pad as mentioned above - thats pretty much what I'm waiting for. 2.2Ghz is quick enough at the moment, altho a speed bump would be nice.

I think you are right. Massively overdue as they are, I don't expect new Macbook Pros tomorrow.

Only way I'd sell my MBP I purchased in September is if the new one has 200 GB+ hard drive, better video card, and a higher res screen standard. Anything less wouldnt be worth the effort/ money right now IMO. How much would I get for an almost 6 month 2.2ghz MBP with installed Leopard (Tiger installtion included) 160 gbs and 2 gbs (keeping my 4 gbs:p) anyway?
