Eye Of The Tiger
Survivor

Risin' up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

So many times, it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all with the eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
They stack the odds, till we take to the street
For the kill with the skill to survive

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all with the eye of the tiger

Risin' up, straight to the top
Had the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I'm not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all with the eye of the tiger

The eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger

I'm looking forward to getting Tiger as soon as it is available. I plan to camp at the Towson (Md.) store, and also pick up iLife '05 at the same time. Heck for another $300, I can get a Mini. Hmmm.......

If anything apple will ramp up seeding if a final release is on its way.

Seed, seed, seed.... no seed... no seed.... release! I've heard this may be a typical cycle. For one, a company may have seeded enough to think they have a good bug list and only have to find bugs on the last small changes, which they can do internally. And, a purpose of seeding is to get feedback, and at the end of the cycle there is no time to receive and integrate the feedback.

So, possibly... No news is good news.

Guys not to get too off topic but typically how long after release before we will see Apple hardware ship with the updated OS? I'm jonesing for a Mac Mini but it would be critically stupid to get one this close to launch and with a possible hardware refresh at WWDC. Possible.

Once Apple announces Tiger, you should be eligable for the Up To Date program with any machine purchased after the announcement.

Once Tiger actually ships, current machines will start showing up with Tiger tossed into the system box. Existing models may or may not get Tiger pre-installed on them.

New models announced after Tiger is shipping will come with Tiger.

Ah, but I'm not asking for a copy, just curious as to whether such activity goes on. I don't want to install a beta on my Mac - don't have the time to risk a buggered system
FYI, yes there were. I've seen people selling CDs/DVDs of betas on a certain large auction site. They also were doing the rounds on the usual p2p networks months back. I wasn't interested as I've got better things to do than download 2GB of buggy beta that could hose my data....

Thanks - figured that would be the case.

A related question - anyone know how many official beta testers Apple has for Tiger?

Let's hope the new OS is better than that song! :p

What are you talking about?! "Eye of the Tiger" is one of the greatest songs of all time! lol!

Well I think that the date mentioned in the newsflash could be the actual date for releasing Tiger. Mainly because Apple will have a decent period for shipping OS 10.4 to their Customers. Also this has an advantage for their WWDC upcomming in June. Because at this WWDC they can tell to the world how many Tiger Copies are shipped and/or are reserved by Apple Users.

If they are willing they may also update the PMG5 lines in order for me to buy a new Dual 2.0 with 512mb ram if the rumors are right and served with the delicious sauce of Tiger ;)

You figure it out...

From people who get developer builds, sounds like Apple are rushing it.

Hope its not a highly buggy initial release.

Don't know if it's coming out in April or not (I'd rather see it stabilized a bit more myself). But... I have a stable system *now* albeit without all of Tiger's features.

I'll let all of you folks let me know where the bugs are and I'll move from one stable system to another when I stop hearing talk here about how unstable and buggy it is... several months from now... :D

Knowing that Tiger is available for pre-order, would we even bother to upgrade to X.3.9 ?
That depends on each person needs.

Some people won't upgrade to Tiger for many months. Some may hae something fixed in 10.3.9 that they need immediately.

So I can see lots of people installing 10.3.9 and any other updates to 10.3 that may come out. Remember Apple is still providing security updates for 10.2.8.

The whole topic of whether people get Tiger straight away, whenever it comes out, is really down to them. However it cannot be that buggy otherwise why would Apple release it? I thought this company were proud of their quality image? Also this is Apple we are talking about, not Microsoft! We dont want to wait 5+ years for an OS that is already out of date! Anyhoo, how perfect are most OSs on first release, despite how long they take to develop?? Nothing is perfect.

I can really understand large pro customers and businesses wanting to wait however, they do not have the luxoury of an immediate swap for the very latest thing like the normal everyday home user with money does!!

Also, on the whole topic of whether this is real or not, I can understand Apple wanting to fool TS and reveille their leaks, but why drag eWeek into this, who as far as I know have been pretty quite for Apple!...unless eWeek was not Apples intension and all this is indeed a stunt. But ofcourse TS could be the source, as my fellow forumer "uae" before has mentioned!! If not TS, another rumour site. These circles can be vicious!! Lets hope they dont bite us in the ass!!

If it is a hoax and a prank I think Apple will be playing a very dangerous game, because as this one forum shows, people one way or another are getting excited and worked up over it. If Apple do not release it in April like it is rumoured too, it may have a lot of unhappy customers and potential customers on their hand who may just get tired of waiting.

Also, linked with this, as said in a similar Tiger string by someone, why would Apple risk losing money from people not buying their hardware or software until Tiger came out?? If it is a hoax it could be dangerous, they may want t oget it out now the rumours are very hot and close even if they werent.

You should talk to the people who installed 10.3.0 and had firewire harddrives with a certain type of controller in them. A lot of them lost all their data due to one of Apple's little bugs. That's why 10.3.1 came out so quickly. Personally I'm happy with 10.3.x at least until 10.4.1 comes out.

Anyone know how 6800 Ultra performance is under Tiger? I can't decide if I want to throw mine back in and sell my x800.

TIGER TO THE MAX

tiger will be released on the 15 because some of what Apple is going to release at NAB is tiger dependent.... shake 4...and the new mystery app...

prepare for the total domination...one os will rule them all...

It was combination bug, one that was caused by issues in the drive firmware the Apple's driver didn't gracefully deal with.

I'll be putting Tiget on at least one computer by September, most likely, and earlier than that if I decide to order a PowerBook in July.
