Assuming this new taller iPhone design is accurate, I wonder if we will see the same aspect ratio appear in the fourth generation iPad.

Appleinsider has an interesting pic of the white version of this prototype - it has the black apple and all the nomenclature written on the back for those who say this can'rt be real because the logo is hard to see and there is no "designed in California" written under the iPhone name

So today we have seen 3 different versions of the alleged leak.

To me that suggests more that the design is a way to steal the S3's thunder by Apple than being the actual iPhone 5.

Can you describe how a new iPhone should look keeping in mind a "drastic design change" ?

I mean. Get serious people. There's only so much design change you can do to a smartphone.

Make it round ?

Give it curves ?

Competitors do change designs of their phones quite often, why shouldn't Apple do the same ? And by the way, we really needed a Centered Facetime Camera : still don't know how could we survive till now without it ...

That photo on AI is the same as the first photo 9to5Mac released. The first photo and second are different which even moreso leads me to believe these are unfinished prototypes not ready for prime time.

Indeed, I think we will see a very similar design, but slightly different to the pictures today. It's either a bogus (rejected?) prototype leak by Apple to steal some thunder away from the S3 launch (although they have done that themselves with their manufacturing cockup) or a pre-production model.

Well, (assuming this is legit) now we see what Apple can produce with the bare minimum in design effort. Nice work over the last 2 years. Looks like half the bad photoshop jobs we've seen over the last two years.

Way to coast, Apple. At lease everyone who didn't want the iPhone to change got what they wanted.
Why should we assume it's legit or a fully finished product?

Waiting to see if iOS6 is the game changer I'm hoping it is. This design screams iPod touch but I do want it. Can't wait for the official reveal.

1. aint this the guys who gave us all the rumours about the iPhone5 last year with all the silicon casing everywhere

2. where is that design gone to?

3. seriously you got pictures and no freaking measurements:confused:

4. you got to question your sources!

5. i love the design but don't trust the owner of the gossip!:p

I have my doubts Apple released this intentionally unless they really want to throw people off so when the new phone comes out its a total surprise with a real wow factor. Plus it seems odd to me they'd leak it right before WWDC. If anything I could see leaks of new laptops but not the iPhone.

I don't get the venom with regard to these pictures...

I also don't follow the decisions by some to move to Android if this is the new iPhone...

Hell, the Galaxy SIII looks a whole lot like my nasty Samsung Omnia II from 2009 - only with a larger screen and thinner...

...which is what Apple appears to be offering - thinner and larger screen while keeping with a certain design signature..

I didn't like the iPhone 4 design when it first got leaked. Couldn't believe Apple would sell such a boring design with crazy holes in the bezel. But when I got it thought it was amazing. It looked so nice (still does) that I couldn't believe I didn't like it at first.

This design, however, looks.. weird. I don't like this big glass borders at all. Would love a unibody design like the iPad 2/3, with a little rounding so it feels nice when holding it in your hand..

The bigger screen is welcome, I think I prefer a 4" screen above a 3,5" screen.

It's time for Apple to be innovative again and put the bar higher and higher untill we have the most beautifull phone ever created. The design on this leaked screenshots, are not the right direction as far as I can judge. Hopefully my opinion will change when we see the thing presented by Apple.

They are the same guys who leaked the white iPad - so they have hit a few out of the park.

Maybe. Although I doubt we will see leaks on laptops for practical and economic reasons.

I wouldn't say it's odd considering the S3 launch was today. Coincidence? Who knows.

The only thing that makes sense to me is that there is protective film on the back. That's why you can't see the apple logo. Because you would not need the two screws on the bottom if it was a two peace back...I don't know but i really don't like how it looks now.

Center face time camera, smaller dock, bottom headphone jack and bigger screen yes! Central alu metal back no!

I always have loved the white iPhone, but this one looks weird with the mismatched metal/plastic/whatever. The black looks sleek as hell!

I agree, it looks bad. However, I don't think it's as bad as in the picture because the white balance is off and the metal part is picking up more of the green/yellow tint of the light source than the white plastic is. I'm still not crazy about it, but I have to believe it'll look better than in that photo.

Maybe if what was being leaked was awesome design wise. This is what J Ive would call "truly dreadful". Can't see him wanting to leak that. :D

I'm liking the black rim surrounding the phone, looks quite cool, if they made the entire back plate black aluminium/liquid metal that would not only look very cool but would be stronger too.

I was a staunch defender of the iPhone 4 as far back as its initial leak, but...this ain't doing it for me. It may well be legitimate, but the aesthetic isn't really blowing my skirt up, especially that white/aluminum backplate. The dual-finish aspect feels somehow less elegant. Those who point at the first generation iPhone as precedent should also keep in mind that the plastic window on that phone was a concession, not a choice.

I do like the dark anodized metal band on the black model, as well as the bottom-positioned headphone jack.

Multi-touch back anyone...

I think that the metal looking back panel on the white one looks like the surface of my Apple Trackpad! Could explain why there is a panel in the middle so that you know where to touch otherwise WTF!
