If they charge extra, I won't use it. It should be part of an ichat app.

It will probably be free. Like Maps is completely free on an iPhone, but if you use a similar feature on a Verizon phone that feature costs $9.99 a month, or if you want wireless push mail like the iPhone it costs a whopping $19.99 a month. Most likely a video chat feature on non-iPhones is going to be a paid feature.

What are you seeing? It looks real to me.

I can tell from the pixels and also from seeing a lot of real photos in my time.

Look at the gray on the left where it meets the black. It is retouched. That's what you should be seeing.

We've determined that it is the person's reflection/shadow who made it darker.

i took my sample from engadget which has two shots of the front of the phone from different angles. The shadows cast by the phone suggest main light source was in front of the person taking the photo and as such no shadow could be cast onto the phone by the photographer from that light source. another light source is not unthinkable but it is not evident in the picture. Also note that both images from engadget show the 'bleed' of the overlay from two different angles so that in my mind rules out shadows or reflections from the photographer as plausible. And just common sense tells us that people don't cast shadows in straight lines as no part of our bodies have perfectly straight lines. The only plausible explanation would be a refection from a silver-ish object like a cheap digital camera that caused the luminosity of the top part of the home screen and side of the bezel to be lower than that of the rest of the image, but considering the angle at which my sample was taken, I can confidently say that that is a physical impossibility.

"...Light years ahead." = iPhone Lite?

I noticed that Apple usually puts subtle clues in their advertisements for WWDC about what they will announce. There have recently been talks about an "iPhone Lite"... could this have something to do with Light Years Ahead? Just a guess..

Also, just wondering what everyone else thinks about the possibility of a Verizon iPhone announcement? Any hope for Verizon?

Video chat, looks real:

If you were going to post a real photo of a yet-to-be-announced Apple product, thus bringing down the fiery wrath of Apple (and its army of lawyers) upon your head, would that real photo include your own face and that of a friend/colleague (as well as her name!) with which you are "video chatting?"

Epic fake or epic stupidity. You decide.

LOL I never thought of that but I hope its real.

The keywords stand out. If it were about an iPhone Lite, the banner would say "Lite Years Ahead" like there was "There's something in the Air."

If that is the new iphone I hope the earpiece isn't up that high on the phone..

Actually, the word "air" was not capitalized and the only reason it stood out was because of all of the rumors of the macbook air. Otherwise, the word air would have been the last thing people would have been paying attention to. But, you are probably right that there will not be an iPhone Lite, I'm only hoping.

The word "Air" was capitalized in the keynote.

So maybe in the keynote it'll say "Lite years ahead?" Just something to think about. I wonder how many times that has happened?
