At this rate, don't expect AW2 until 2017.

Whoa -- wait a minute there -- get your terminology straight. If we have to go with rMB and rMBP, I believe 2AW is the official unofficial designator. Apple will of course use something that makes sense like "Applewatch Fall Equinox mid-decade"

Many pre-orders with initial shipping estimates of 4-6 weeks or later have already been shipped or delivered

Really......mine is still delivery between 12May and 26May......wish mine had....must be so far down the preorder list it has got lost....but then again I did get confirmation 6 minutes after preorders went live....

Resolved?

I'd like to make it clear that Apple hasn't said that this is resolved, the writer of the article has said that.

It isn't resolved. There were two manufacturers of the engine, one in Japan and one in China. The one from Japan is fine. The one from China fails after a short time of use. Apple found that out before they were shipped, in testing, after they were built.

They stopped using the defective units from China, and that's, apparently, what the writer means when saying that the issue was resolved. But the Japanese manufacturer is ramping up production which is well below Apple's needs. That will take time. So the issue is not resolved. The problem was found, and the issue is on its way to being resolved, but it likely won't be for a couple of months, hopefully.

Good job Tim Cook.

All that time worrying about what Indiana is doing is working wonders for quality and logistics at Apple.

You mean the one press release? OMG, all that tiiiiiiiime!!

I suppose you also blame gay people for earthquakes and tornados.

I feel like I haven't seen anyone post that they recieved a 42mm SS with BSB either. I still have a 5/13-5/24 ship date. Has anyone seen any of those floating around or recieved one?

I finally received my 42mm SS with BSB yesterday. It was in the 4/24 to 5/8 delivery timeframe from the moment I ordered it at 3:06 AM ET on 4/20 though.

My bet is the people who setup appointments to decide on which watch to get are catching up on ordering what they decided on. For 2.5 weeks now, I'm sure stores have been packed and can only take so many people In a day, limiting how many people will order, slowing down the process.

I wonder how many people are like me and are close to cancelling the order or have already have cancelled it because of the unexpected wait time for an Apple product that typically is delivered on the release date.

Sorry, but I don't understand any of it.
The way things going, we will soon see the estimates for deliveries as - "sometime in 2015"...
What a joke, not funny though... :(

Yeah, gosh... worrying about human rights is so much less important than a slight manufacturing hiccup that will be resolved in the next few weeks. Plus, they are clearly connected.

Fire angela

My 4/24 - 5/8 order must have been delivered to someone else, oh wait it was.

42mm Stainless Steel with Milanese Loop, order confirmed by Apple 4/10 @ 3:08am EDT. No update from Apple Whatsoever, however I sit here watching these very models ordered minutes to hours later, going to others throughout the world, and some are even moving within 2 hours distance from me in Harrisburg PA.

I never recall an Apple pre-order taking so long to fulfill and be so oddly dispersed. So much for the 1st come 1st served customer service mantra.

Apple is not Burberry nor was it founded on carriage trade principles

The thing is though if you cancel you'll never get it until next year.

I wonder how many people are like me and are close to cancelling the order or have already have cancelled it because of the unexpected wait time for an Apple product that typically is delivered on the release date.

Got my 42mm SS BSB yesterday. Has anyone received a 42mm SS with link bracelet yet? From everything I know, none of those have shipped yet.

Didn't know Apple was a human rights advocate, thought they were ae tech company

Im not an expert on the matter, but the stores, from my experience have been handling the fitting appointments very well. The people doing the fittings have been busy, but overall it is not crazy crowded at my local store. I've gone twice to make sure the one I liked fit well (42 mm SS Black Leather Loop(mine says June)) and I have a couple friends that have gone in to fit them more then once without issues making appointments. Stores don't seem any less or more busy then normal, in my area at least. I ordered 2 watches, both said June on the 12th of April(other was 38 mm Green Sport for Mrs. Q) and we received the sport on launch day. They have been good at providing some people with an early arrival at least.

Bought mine night of, 3:15am , still says

Processing Items Available to ship: 4-6 weeks
Delivers: May 13 - May 27 by Standard Shipping

...... Guess Im not pare of the "Most orders"

bought mine at 12:06, 42mm Space Grey Sport, same 4-6 week delivery.

Keep hoping that it'll miraculously improve but seems they didn't make nearly enough of the Space Grey, almost like they waiting for the Aluminum ones to finish manufacturing first :(

Ordered at 3:07am eastern and received my 42mm Sport on 24th and my 42mm Watch milanese loop yesterday.

After seeing and using both in real life, I'm going to return the Sport and we'll order another Watch.

Didn't know Apple was a human rights advocate, thought they were ae tech company

Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, Google... all human rights advocates along with being tech companies. Does that bother or threaten you? Can a company be an advocate for things such as human rights, the environment, eradication of disease, etc? Does the Project Red involvement hurt your feelings?

Apple is the biggest company in the world. Their voice is important. If you don't agree, stop buying their products.

I have to disagree with this. Apple set a precendent themselves, that if you ordered within the first hour, you got your product on launch day.

They also said April 24th was launch day. Never said 4/25-May. This was after the fact, after a few months of proudly touting 24th.

Apple drop the ball, severely. its no big deal in the grand scheme of things. But this launch was a disaster. If samsung did this, this board would be through the roof

Suppose this is a byproduct of launching simultaneously at the exact same time.

42mm SS Black Sports Band hasn't had _any_ ground made up at all. They are only just now to minute _8_ of preorders (Yes, they've only delivered to people who pre-ordered in the first 8 minutes after midnight!).

Personally, I'm at 11 minutes after midnight... so I'm hoping for some movement sometime late next week. Ugh.

Damn! That milanese loop is awesome!

Same situation here....

Here in Maryland, I'm still waiting on the same configuration of watch, that was ordered within 30 minutes of the web site going live for orders. Same estimated delivery date of May 13 - May 27 shown, and no word yet of a change in order status or credit card being charged for it.

Clearly, there's some sort of issue with production of the space grey aluminum bodies and black sport bands.

I don't doubt Apple still might have shipped "most/many" of the pre-orders, but some of this may be due to folks who figured out they needed to reconfigure an order to get the watch sooner. (One of my wife's co-workers did just that, changing from black sport band and space grey to a white band, and received his watch already by doing so.)

As a point of reference, I ordered my 42mm Watch Sport "Space Grey Aluminum with Black Sport Band" immediately once the web store was open. My delivery estimate has never changed since that moment:

Processing Items Available to ship: 4-6 weeks
Delivers: May 13 - May 27 by Standard Shipping
Apple Watch Sport 42mm Space Gray Aluminum Case with Black Sport Band

I get aggravated when I see posts saying that most Watches with delivery estimates in May are being delivered early. This is clearly not the case with the Space Grey Sport (as far as I can tell) and it is quite clear that this model represents a large percentage of what has been ordered. So to suggest that many/most/etc. Watches are shipping early really feels inaccurate, at best.

This waiting game has been driving me crazy! Out of all of my Apple experiences, this has got to be the worst…

It could just be that demand for the watch has increased because if people have been going in to the retail stores and receiving news that its still online orders only then there could be an increase for online orders hence the reason for the dates extending

When I ordered pretty much as soon as orders opened the quote was for 24th April to 8th May. I got it in that window. Some people got it on the 24th - I didn't, but I did get it in the quoted window. I'm happy - Apple delivered exactly as they promised.

That's how it is for every product, new iPhones are usually back ordered for weeks after launch too, and you might not get it on launch day unless you're lucky. Nothing new for a high demand Apple product.

Since when was this precedent set? As far as I know there has never been a 1 hour window for for launch day delivery - that's crazy, and if Apple ever promised that I'm stunned.

I can't see how they dropped the ball at all. As far as I know everyone is due to get their watch within the quoted delivery time frame. If people start being delayed after that passes sure, be upset. But before they clicked buy they were given the dates and the option to back out? I haven't really been following that closely but it seems most who ordered early were quoted up to the 8th of May.

There are 3 watches in the collection, with 2 sizes in each, and various colours, with numerous straps. All customisable. These things are assembled in one part of the world, and sold over. Different payment methods/authorising banks for good measure. Estimates say pre-orders were over 2 million. Can you even begin to imagine the logistics? It blows my mind. And seeing as you care about Samsung - they're struggling with demand too: http://www.theguardian.com/technolo...-edge-faces-shortages-demand-outstrips-supply
