Only three years after the original iPhone came the iPhone 4... Think of all the upgrades that came in just three short years!

Not to mention Steve described the craftsmanship to that of an old Leica camera, which wasn't too far off IMHO.

I upgraded to the 5s from my 4, and I hated giving it up. Still beautiful, just couldn't keep up with technology and speed.

The iPhone 5 design, especially the 5s due to the chrome ring around the home button. The white silver 5/5s just feel like jewelry with the (shiny!) chamfered edge and this model doesn't show scuffing.

Don't mean to go off topic but believe me, the white scuffs also..:( maybe not as obvious as the slate but it still scuffs just as easy.

I learned that the hard way taking my year old case off of my white iP5 to go naked, only to have it scuffed and scratched within a week of two accidental drops!

It wasn't huge scuffs but still, I'm pissed.

I vote the 4/4s. The height/width proportions are far better than the tall skinny 5. When the 6 comes and has a larger screen then I think the proportions will get back to being good again.

The 4/4S is just a beautiful piece of industrial design. The symmetry of the dual glass panels, the extraordinary durability...it's a classic that will be referenced for decades. I fully believe that if the engineers could have found a way to make the glass thinner without sacrificing durability the 5S would have shared the 4's glass back.

I was fortunate enough to get my 4S replaced under warranty yesterday, and hope that I will be able to continue to use it for years to come.

I wish the grey 5S had a silver ring around the home button. It would look a lot more sophisticated!

I think the exact opposite. I love that my space gray has a black ring. It blacks out the whole front (especially since the old "square" on the home button is gone). Really makes it look sleek.

If the home button was also gray it would be super distracting and tacky looking, in my opinion of course.

The home button almost disappears into the screen now which I love. And when you look at it at a certain angle, it shimmers in the light. Gorgeous design.

I doubt they would as well. But here is a mock up of one I did. I realize you may not like it but I thought it looked good.

I'm sure you could find a candidate who would be willing to participate in a transplant.
A White+Space Grey and Black+Gold 5S would look cool. Can't wait to see some of these, it's going to be inevitable.

Yeah maybe, but I am not the one that wants to risk the money if it would go wrong.

Interesting; if you'd asked what the best design was I'd probably go somewhere between the 4 and 5 as I like the materials used in both, the premium feel etc etc... but aesthetically pleasing? That's a little different and once I put the aluminium/glass thing out of my mind it's the 3G/3GS that popped out.

The black 3G/S was sleek, very comfortable in the hand, slipped in your pocket like a bar of soap, was almost entirely featureless except for that iconic chrome surround and the home button... aesthetically it still kind of is the quintessential iPhone for me. But once build quality comes into play, forget it..

Which is the most aesthetically pleasing iPhone to date in your opinion? I must say the iPhone 4 and 4S have one of the most beautiful designs ever seen on a mobile phone.

EDIT: Oh damnit, I forgot 5C from the list! Can I add it some how afterwards?

[MOD NOTE]
Added the 5C option

I think the 4/4S changed the game completely, but since the 5/5S are the latest, they will probably get the highest vote.

The uk 4 and 4s have different antenna bands

Yes I could include the CDMA 4 in my likes but over here we don't have CDMA so it's the 4s

When you are in a hole stop digging, the 4 and 4s were virtually identical everywhere, including the UK.

You could take a permanent black marker and draw the 1cm long line onto the 4 to make them identical if you felt the need .

Most aesthetically pleasing iPhone in your opinion?

I loved the 4/4s and the space grey 5s is closest to it I think. Actually I think the space grey 5s is stunning.

Black/slate 5.

I prefer the look of the 5s with the new home button, but I like the black/slate more than space grey, although space grey is really nice too.

I've owned an iPhone 3G, iPhone 4 and currently an iPhone 5.

I've loved each, but the iPhone 5 is my favourite. It's the first time I've gone white, and while I do love it, I can't help but think they black slate looks way more badass every time I see one I get a pang of regret!

I think the 4 was great at the time, but the 5 is the next generation in that design and looks much better than the 4.

While I haven't seen one in person, I'm really not keen on the silver ring of the home button/finger print scanner of the 5S, and certainly not keen on the space grey. My opinion might change if I saw them in person.

I think slate looked awesome and sleek, but space gray looks so much more classic and "Apple" looking, as far as color goes. Gun metal phone vs. black? Black just seems so plain, despite how good it looked. How many phones are gun metal? How many phones are black?
