A ban worthy offense, no doubt! just kidding

Stairway to Heaven gets me every time. :)

Did you not see the first part of this thread. It really is sad to watch people just rant about such talented people. I mean even those that we think are bad are still fairly good...

But I'm still waiting for the ban for the one that said Dylan.

This thread iThink is more just the take a s*** on everyone else's favorite artists.

I just don't understand why people like Radiohead at all.

The Doors had Jim Morrison but the rest of the band was of minimal talent. Did any of the surviving members do anything musically after Morrison died?

I've always thought the opposite. Morrison got all the attention, but the rest of the band really were fine musicians. "L.A. Woman" and "Riders on the Storm" are particularly great arrangements.

The recent plethora of threads debating the merits of certain rock bands has lead me to wonder what the single most overrated band of all time is.

I think arguments can be made for artists big and small, and there's so many choices that it would be silly to try and make a poll, but let me get the ball rolling by nominating U2.

Pretentious stadium rock at its worst, with one of the weakest rhythm sections of all time. Not the worst band by a long shot, but probably the worst for talent-to-accolade ratio.

My first thought just by reading the thread title. I whole heartily concur with your conclusion and reasons.

I can't believe some of the band names I see on here. OMG. Led Zep, The Beatles, U2, Radiohead! wow... overrated? really? have you even heard of something called music before?

This thread is full of absurd and pretentious posts, it might as well be called "Name bands you don't like and and tell people that do they have bad taste in music"

It's a matter of personal opinion. You can't dismiss other people's reasons for liking a band as totally unfounded just because you don't.

I'm just saying you can't really bring bands into the mix that are good talent wise. Overrated would be a band that has little musical talent, but gets/takes credit for having a lot. To even join this conversation you need to know how to listen to music and evaluate it critically, otherwise it's just some random opinion based on your personal taste or experience.

I would love to hear legitimate reasons of why some of these bands are not extremely musically talented?

I'm a professional musician, I've trained drummers and my brother trains guitarists. I'll say again, Led Zeppelin.

I can see Bob Dylan being 'overrated' for his voice. I love the guy, but he is not a good singer. But his songwriting/lyrics more than make up for that fact.

That said, I got to put a vote in for The Doors -- some alright songs, but I hear people say Jim was a 'poet'. Utter BS. "If you give this man a ride, sweet family will die, there's a killer on the run..." Yeah, real deep, Jimmy.

again, I would love to hear WHY? At least the guy that started the thread gave some explanations.

Anything I'll say will just start a fight or a large debate.
It's just my personal opinion, music is something everyone hears differently.
