I like "Creep", it's the only good song they've ever written but they're not as innovative or original as their fans seem to think.

Have you listened to any of their albums except for Pablo Honey? I think Radiohead is one of the few bands who keep getting better as time goes on. IMHO, Pablo Honey was their worst album, and Creep as a single isn't much better.

This is getting repetitive.... :p

It's nice to know that people I encounter online are a lot like those I meet in person.

Most overrated band would have to any band which comes at the end of this sentence...
"The Beatles are crap. There are way better bands today, like ......... "

Which brings me to another point. Beatles bashers. You think they were boring and uninnovative, but you know that they did invent/perfect modern music as we know it? List of things they did...
- Arrangement (2 guitars + bass + drums (+ maybe keyboard)), taken for granted today...
- Wrote their own songs. Beforehand there were professional song writers. The Beatles made writing your own songs expected from bands...
- Made the album a piece in itself. The Beatles arranged songs on an album so that they worked together. Not a compilation as there was before.
- Which brings me to Sergeant Pepper. Every song was different to anything that had gone before, and yet it still worked.
- Variety of styles. Bubblegum pop, proto-Rock, Ballad, experimental songs (see Yellow Submarine, Strawberry Fields, I am the Walrus e.t.c.), Rock, proto-Heavy Metal . They tried everything. And it all worked...
- And most of all...it was good! Hence why girls screamed and such at the time, and their music collection is the most valuable today...

Sgt. Peppers = Best Album Ever

Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen...
Really???

For me....

Rolling Stones at the very top of the list.
Don't understand how this band ever became and survived.

Kid Rock. I haven't seen him mentioned.
Nickleback: I can tolerate them except for the fact of all the clones that sound like them. The production is great though.

i agree on the nickelback and also greenday

yeah, the only thing that grabs me is the production value.
I think now we live in the most 'cookie-cutter' generation of music thats ever been. Thats too bad cause we have the greatest music production tools today of any generation. Should be even more creativity and unique compositions. Its just not on the radio/mainstream.

Cool. I know its out there but i haven't been listening to much anything new. Can you give me 10 artists that you feel are doing something fresh/new in indie rock? Anything would be great. Thanks. :D

people who say the beatles are overrated don't really know what they're talking about and as such shouldn't be allowed to post in this thread

furthermore, those of you who mention u2 as overrated; go listen to achtung baby

right now

I never really thought of Nickelback as highly rated to begin with. If so, then they are definitely on my overrated list.

I must agree with the thread creator, US is overrated. I can't stand listening to U2 evangelists.

Went back and checked out the OP's first post and yes Dave Matthews Band definitely should be nominated.

Listened to Radiohead's "OK Computer" album, and I wasn't impressed. Sometimes it sounds like every instrument is being played to a different time signature... and I don't know. I don't see why people think they're such a great band.

Do you just search around for no name Indie rock bands? Or is there a certain way or blog you get them from..

Radiohead, The Beatles, Tool, Metallica, Led Zeppelin and U2 but all are talented, I just don't think they live up to the hype.

Whilst U2 and Led Zep are some of my favourite bands, definitely overrated.

SLAYERRRRR!
