Boondock Saints.. Love this film... Love it!
Dog Soldiers.. Another film I really like
From Hell... this one might be popular thou. But a lot of my friends haven't seen it nor have they heard about.... so I thought I would mention it here.
Highlander

Those are the only two I can really think of right now..

+1 for the Lucky Number Slevin and Big Trouble in Little China mentions. I'm adding the following to this thread; these flicks deserve to be in your Netflix queue if you haven't seen them:
True Romance
The Last Dragon
Memento
The Host

Is Downfall/Der Untergang underappreciated? Maybe I just hang around with people who like that sort of thing™ but all my buds loved that film.

The Beast,

A fantastic story about the war in Afghanistan during the 1980s.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beast_of_War

Definitely a +1 on The Beast.

Others ...

Big Night -- Tony Shaloub and Stanley Tucci
Birdy -- Matthew Modine and Nicolas Cage
Diner -- actually, nearly anything by Barry Levinson set in Baltimore

Many people have seen The Commitments, It's the first part of a trilogy of sorts, and "The Van" and "The Snapper" are both fine films.

Anything pre 1990 by Jackie Chan (post 1990 are pretty good too, but hardly underrated)

Veronica Guerin
Confidence -- Edward Burns and Rachel Weisz
Slacker -- Richard Linklater's
Enemy of the State -- a great guilty pleasure
Time Bandits

And since the remake is in theaters now, the original "The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3" is just damn awesome (and the remake is pretty solid, too)

Not much by the Coen Brothers could be considered "underrated" but one of my favorites is "The Hudsucker Proxy."

I can't believe someone else mentioned The Secret Garden! One of the most gorgeous, brutally dreary (at times) movies ever - and it's a children's film!

Let's see, here are mine...

Titus (Julie Taymor's anachronistic/stylistic version of Titus Andronicus)
Dune (David Lynch)
The Fountain
Pan's Labyrinth
The Secret Garden (1993)
A Life Less Ordinary
Velvet Goldmine
Down with Love (yes, I tend to like Ewan McGregor movies)
Sleepy Hollow (Tim Burton)
Meet the Robinsons
Hairspray (the musical one)
The Iron Giant (maybe not underrated - it depends on who you talk to)
Monster House
Oscar (Sylvester Stallone comedy - HILARIOUS)
Clue
CQ

...and Titan A.E. Because my boyfriend worked on it. ;)

Most of the films listed here aren't really underrated etc. I think a really underrated film would be something like Woody Allen's What's up, Tiger Lilly or Mel Brooks' The History of the World Part 1. Both are not intensely enjoyable, but they've been far more influential in films than they are typically given credit for.

An almost completely overlooked film I kind of liked is Uso Justo.

Pan's Labyrinth

Eh, don't think Labyrinth fits in here. That movie got a ton of accolades, but it's all a matter of opinion.

Hehe. :D

Down with Love (yes, I tend to like Ewan McGregor movies)

Thanks for reminding me about this movie.

It's actually one of the (very few) romantic comedies I enjoyed. Gregor did well, and I liked the film's style.

Is Downfall/Der Untergang underappreciated? Maybe I just hang around with people who like that sort of thing™ but all my buds loved that film.

No, not really underappreciated. I've never met someone who didn't enjoy it, but because it's a foreign language film it is mostly overlooked by English speaking audiences.

A couple of mine would have to be:

My last choice isn't particularly under-rated or overlooked, I just feel that in the UK it never got the attention it deserved. Not sure about elsewhere though.
