I'm curious about the T-Mobile model. I hear this is unbranded and unlocked. If I buy it for full price off contract (with $150 promo :)), does that mean it's unlocked or do I need to go through another process to get it unlocked.

To clarify, by unlock, I'm asking about sim unlock as I care little about bootloader being unlocked. I'm fairly new to Android (well, this will be my first Android phone), so I don't plan to be too adventurous with my modifications.

I'm interested in sim unlock because I may have to use this phone over seas a few months a year, so this is important to me.

thats correct. im using tmobile moto x on att without any further unlocking.

Is there anyone here who wanted to get the Moto X $150 off promo code? I have one I did not use as I decided to get a Note 3 and would rather give it away to someone who can use it. Mine expires at 11:59 PM tonight, so if you want it, please send me a PM and I will get it to you ASAP. First person to PM me can have it!

Not sure how to PM, but would love the code if you could message it to me.

We have a private wall?

I don't think its private, I just posted it in the "Visitor Messages" portion of his profile. Since he wasn't accepting PM's I wasn't sure how else to send it. I hope he used the code, or if not someone else did since its expiring in 9 minutes!

Oh, gotcha. I thought i was missing something there, lol.

Is there any way to make the volume for Google now/touchless control not be affected by the ringer? I would love for it to talk to me even when on vibrate.

Idle battery drain seems to be just as bad as my Nexus 4 and 5. Nowhere near as good as my past iPhone.

For those using a Moto X, do you leave active display and touchless control on? Do you see an increase in battery life? If so, how significant?

Not even my Note 3 beats my 5s standby time, no Android phone will, too much running in the background. Turn certain apps or processes off, it just restarts itself. You'd have to root and rom for full control I think and even then, it won't be as good. Standby on the Moto X is not too bad actually, here is a shot of mine on standby, haven't used it more than a few minutes. Active display and always listening on. Compare that to the 5s Ive used for a few hours and its not too bad.

For whatever reason, my Moto X does not like going to sleep and prefers staying in the lowest clock speed.

I have disabled touchless control, active display, Google Now, location reporting, location history, NFC, bluetooth, and probably a few more that I missed. And I uninstalled the Facebook app as well. But I don't know what is causing it. And everywhere I look online people say to download a specific battery stats app, but on 4.4 they all require root to be useful.

I don't want to root my phone at the moment, I just want it to stop sucking battery all the time. Anybody know what could be causing this or have suggestions on what to try to pinpoint the issue?

I am getting awful battery life. At this rate I will be lucky to get 2.5 hours SOT in less than a full day. That's pathetic.

I dont see anything wrong with that. Nearly 11 hours and still at 53% is pretty good. What android system things have you been using since that appears to be the most usage there? I dont have a Moto X. What were you expecting? If it goes nearly 22 hours, how is that not a full day?

Are you using ART or davlik?
Dalvik

That was awful and nowhere near good by my standards. Luckily the Moto X agreed with me. I was loosing 4-5% every hour without doing anything. By that alone, 100% pure idle time wouldn't reach the 24 hours of moderate use marketed. I did a factory reset, didn't install anything, and left it unplugged overnight for 8 hours and it only lost 10%. Huge difference. And before, 384 MHz would take majority over deep sleep. Deep sleep would be lucky to hit 30% (see the picture a couple posts above and deep sleep is at 11%) and 384 MHz would be above 50%. After last nights test deep sleep was at 95%. Now I just have to figure out which app was causing it.

If any of you have owned the HTC One and the Moto X could you list some pros and cons of each compared to each other? I've played with both in the store and I'm having a hard time deciding which I like more. How do these phones compare for reception and camera quality? I think the One has a better screen and from what I read on here the X probably has better battery life.
