Just another supposed iPad killer that no one will care about. Move along.

I wouldn't consider this just 'another tablet'

it will be running a tegra2 SoC, with Honeycomb on top. its the first true next gen specifications. Dual Core processor (using ARM Cortex-A9). its no slouch.

ummm...is this a joke? This looks as if it's a entry level 3D Animators portfolio piece! This does NOT look like a flagship teaser for a major corporation. Sorry, but I think this is a hoax...if it's not....I'd be embarassed to be a part of Motorola who allowed this clip out of the box.

its a TEASER. for goodness sakes, this ad won't be on tv, and its meant for gadget enthusiasts.

This ad is stupid because it doesn't say why their tablet is better and they don't even show it! Lame.
I agree. What a completely useless teaser. It knocks the other tablets but yet says nothing about what Motorola has to offer.

Who is the target audience for this? As someone who has not researched what Motorola plans to offer, this teaser, for me, doesn't get me excited about anything.

But the problem is there are so few tech spec people around that no-one will care.

No-one bought an iPad because of the A4 chip.

Motorola

Listen up Engine Ola: Please make something that is not as embarrassing as all the other tablets out there trying, and failing, to compete with the iPad. Competition is good for consumers. Please do not fail! :D

It will be interesting to see what interesting thing Motorola has come up with and what is in android 3.0.

It looks like iPad 2.0 will have some interesting competition.

Why all the negatives? This is positive! Competition spurs innovation.

Exactly! It'll force Apple to up their game (which they DO need to do in the long run!). The more tablet makers out there, the better IMO.

So you wouldn't call this just 'another tablet' because it comes with some better specs than whats been released before it?

Lame

Seriously lame ad, the cheeseball 3D was bad enough...but it was about 30 seconds too long...lost interest before they even hit the iPad. Amateurish work from a company that's not used to creating engaging marketing of any kind, but I guess that's to be expected from Motorola. At least they tried...

yes, i would. because almost all devices sold in 2010 had the same processor, including the iPhone4. they just varied what type of SoC they put on it.

its also going to be the first device running Honeycomb. Here is the video of it in action, and it looks great.

not really. It still have the same limited interface.

You mean that the iPhone and the iPad both have an interface designed for multi-touch? Kinda makes sense since the primary input on both device is multitouch. Other than that, the apps are all redesigned to take advantage of the larger screen size, so I'm not sure what you are getting at.

My understanding is they did some changes for Honeycomb to change the interface to work better with tablets.

And, once again, future products are better than current products! Breaking News!

End of the day iPad is pretty much a gaint iPod touch.

Sigh. I thought this argument died with the bathtub/swimming pool analogy.

I realize that I may be in the minority here, but I thought the Motorola ad was great! And I hope that their new product is awesome. I also hope that they give customers a choice of carrier and at a fantastic price.

I say this because I believe that when there are great products from different manufacturers, we all win! Competition is a great thing.

That was about 1 minute too long for me. And I love how the camera zoomed out from the tablet so you really couldn't see anything. That's never a good sign.

What if they'd shot their CEO with an old SD Flip camera with no lights or extra mics?

Would you say "It's just a teaser!" Or would you (correctly) ask why they didn't bother to spend any time or money on the darn thing?

This is the same as that, and it's very odd. 'Short and simple' are not the same as 'amaturish and unrefined.' As a teaser this should be short and simple. But that's not the problem here.

thats what i thought when the iPad first came out, it really is just the big ol iPhone / iPod Touch....nothing new really. I was even more shocked by the name

competition is goooooood, i really have no use at all for a tablet so I probably won't get one for a long time, but its still cool to see whats happening out there. i'm sure ipad 2 will have a front and rear facing camera, different profile to match the iphone in some way, larger storage....thats just about it

FYI, this is meant for gadget enthusiasts. not like this will be on TV.

additionally, you seem to have an attention span of a gnat. Call of Duty: Black OPs is beckoning for you to play...

Mhm, so you are aware that this tablet is coming out in 2011, correct? You are also aware that there will be an iPad 2 in 2011, correct? Good, glad we got that out of the way. iPhone 4 is irrelevant in this conversation.

I've already seen the entire interview with Andy Rubin. Didn't see anything at all impressive in that demo. I saw a copy of Mail for iPad that glitched out and I saw some laggy 3D building implementation for Google Maps that will soon be coming to other devices as he stated including the online version of Google Maps.

You talk up Honeycomb but the only thing that's even been disclosed about it is 'tablet support'.

If this tablet is:
- 10 inch (maybe along side the possible 7inch one) with a higher-resolution than the iPad.
- Has a gyro, front 720p camera and a rear, at least 720p and 5mp.
- Honeycomb OS is more desktop like; but not so much more "desktopy" that it becomes like Windows 7.
- Can edit movies and photos.
- Can edit documents and powerpoints - but with the easiness of the iPad's "pages" and "keynote"
- Good price
- 512mb RAM
- 128gb storage option
- Flash

However, if the iPad 2 cannot / doesn't have:
- Gyro
- 512mb RAM
- 128gb storage option
- Front facing camera and rear facing camera (720p and 5mp)
- Image and Movie editing software, which isn't a load of carp.
- If iOS5 is more desktop like.

Then, I'm buying. (But, in all honesty, I think that I'll still get an iPad, simply for its apps; and I'll use the Motorola for web browsing, email etc.)

As much as I'd love to have a 7-inch tablet for traveling (that size is perfect watching movies on an airplane and fitting in a big pocket when its time to go), I also like to take photos and movies when I travel, which means I need a laptop to offload and process the photos.

The day I can hook up a CF card reader to a tablet to process RAWs and do simple video clip editing and conversion is the day I start leaving my laptop at home.

Until then, I will rock my Thinkpad T60 with the IPS screen.

I got it! I bet their going to put a big slide out keyboard on their tablet like the phones!!!!

Oh wait... then their tablet will be like a giant phone too?

Cool ad, but when it all boils down to it, it's not going to be anymore than a giant Android phone... not that there's anything wrong with that. They better do something out of this world good or they'll look silly.

a teaser isn't defined as the length of the actual promotion, its the idea that the actual product is NOT given a full reveal. in this case, it might be a 1 minute+ (funny as well) promo, but its a teaser as it does not show the actual device, hence, a TEASER.
