Take it for what it is. A low-budget teaser promo to create excitement for Android enthusiasts.

That's my confusion. Is this exciting any of them?

Seems more like an ad for Apple, honestly.

But I can't claim to know how Android fans think so maybe it makes them happy in some way I don't understand.

Most iPad Optimised apps are little more than pixel graphics and a split view controller. So I think it's a fair critism to also say that most Developers (including Apple) treat the the iPad as a big iPhone. Not as a unique set of opportunities in it's own right. So it does become "Just a big iPhone".

Moto are suggesting they are have something up their sleeve that will change that, and this will product will live or die on that claim.

See...I thought that's why people liked the iPad. It reminds them of their iPhone.

Dunno. I'm not an iPad owner either. I thought most of them were happy, though. Am I wrong about that?

Why 2/3 are negative ratings

Why does this post has 2/3 of its ratings negative?? It's just an ad, it's very smart and cool. Don't think that the whole ad is targeting ipad. They made a nice ad, and ipad is not the only tablet in the picture. In the end they both know it is not a race, there will be competition and everybody will play, apple might have the biggest share, but there is room for everyone.

And 99% of the time it is better to support your product than knock others.
BINGO! If a product is that good, it stands on its own.

Motorola has already lost points just with this teaser. Makes me wonder what they plan when the product is revealed.

wow, it really is true. as the generations go by, people become less patient and have that 'i want it now' attitude.

i found it funny. as well as many others here. you seem so distraught over the fact that moto made a little clip mocking the iPad, and the Galaxy Tab, mind you.

and its not 'slow-paced' if you actually read the subtitles. but then again, coming from you, i doubt you like movies with subtitles in them.

I find you funny, as well as many others here. You seem so distraught that I didn't like the little clip moto made especially for you, so you could feel good about yourself in some twisted little way.

It is slow paced, especially if you read the 'subtitles' ( not actually subtitles). But, then again, coming from you ( don't try to know me ) I doubt you could actually keep up if this "teaser" went any quicker.

I said nothing about the product.

Again, I have to ask if you're reading my posts because there's nothing like that in anything I wrote.

When I make a comment on the animation, I'm talking about the animation. I'm not speaking in code or anything.

"Online consumption" means their geekiest clientelle. That's my question: Why is Motorolla putting out cheap animation to the one demographic MOST likely to notice it? This would honestly be better if it were a TV ad because that's the audience that wouldn't be noticing stuff like that.

So, to summerize, this animation confuses me. That's all.

Exactly, but common sense seems lost on this one.

 Not having a feature that you would like is not the same as not being optimized for the screen size.

As far as your request to compare two pictures side by side, there is an app for that.

I choose an example but there are multiple things like that. The UI is not optimized for tablet design. It still optimized for iPod.

funny teaser nice to see a company poking fun at other companies, religion and the past. makes a change from the stale stereotypical ads about now.

No. The iPhone is a mini-tablet that just happened to be released before the iPad.

Your one and only example was horrible and who the hell are you to say what is and isn't optimized for a tablet? Did I miss the product that defined how something should be optimized for a tablet? Because last I checked, before the iPad, there wasn't one.

You repeat your claim without any evidence. Super. Yes, having two apps run side by side may be a nice feature for future iPads. Probably a bad idea on the current one though.

That doesn't mean the OS isn't designed for a large screen. It actually was. Apple designed iOS to run on the iPad.

Seriously lame ad, the cheeseball 3D was bad enough...but it was about 30 seconds too long...lost interest before they even hit the iPad. Amateurish work from a company that's not used to creating engaging marketing of any kind, but I guess that's to be expected from Motorola. At least they tried...

yeh...AGREE 100%

The giant iPhone comment was stupid a year ago, and it still now; what a lack of originality for an ad with a comment like that. Expect the same originality in the Motorola tablet?

They could have say any, ANY kind of weakness the iPad had, and they came up with that, really? Maybe haven't found one?

Same goes for Android OS, the only weakness is that is made for a phone? Really? How thin is the line between a smartphone and a tablet anyway?

Motorola, you are betting high, and you better surprise people with a LOT of innovation after an ad like that.

Agreed. Calling something a really big iPhone... isn't really an insult.

P.S. Bees sting once and die. :D

Lol I so laughed and I'm an apple fanboy

Hopefully moto comes out with a great product that knocks the socks off of steve jobs.

Really who didnt laugh when steve pulled out the iPad.

It's a giant iPhone

Has anyone considered the possibility of the teaser being rendered on the tablet itself?

If you check the video posted earlier in this thread he mentioned a dual core nvidia processor. It doesn't makes sense to publish a video with such a low production quality in 2010.

It would certainly be cool if it were indeed rendered at the new tablet.

How exactly? Motorola is irrelevant as the competition really is iOS vs Android), and apparently Motorola is going to use just another Android version for its tablet, as there weren't enough versions already.

This tablet is going to merge with all other Android based tablets are coming out throught 2011.

Want Android?
Pick your Android OS version;
Pick one of the tablets of your like.

-my opinion-

It's a giant iPhone

And yet 7+ millions unit sold...

The Bee

The Bee was put there to foreshadow the bugs that will go along with the product at launch. ;)

There is no hardware that fits in a tablet of such capability without melting the device as far as I know.

Yeah, well, almost a decade ago we saw lots of pot shots taken at the iPod, and lots of pundits predicting that soon the iPod would fade in market share, and how the future belonged to the competitors who were rushing to market and . . .

. . . yeah, we know how that turned out. Seems the infrastructure around the iPod made it more popular than those competitor's devices. It could never be beaten, and it never was. Despite the predictions.

Same thing will be true with the iPad.

Yes android phones are a compelling product that is almost an equal to the iPhone. Minus the polish.

I'd give the iPhone a 92 and a great android phone an 85. It's that close now.

I'm not gonna bother. It would be a waste of my time.

Not sure why you'd want to. While it would be neat, I highly doubt it.
