I'm ignoring the negative ratings and skipping all the usual Apple fanboy fluff in this thread. (It's really kind of pathetic).
All I know is competition is good for the end user. I hope the Motorola device kicks ass. They'll have a tough time beating Apple's customer service though.

Why are people taking such offense to the "giant iPhone" comment?
Being one of the most successful smartphones and platforms, I see it as a compliment indirectly bolstered by the fact that is all they have against it at the moment.
Millions of people enjoy using their iPhones so in turn, millions of them would (and do) enjoy the iPad! It's such an easy negative argument to spin into a positive IMO.

Seriously anyone else notice that the render on that add looked like early 90s 3D? Maybe they made it with blender..Anyway.. nitpickings aside.
Apple is going to wipe anything from CES off the Map and here is why.
CES = Jan 6 - 9
Macworld = Jan 26 - 29
Anything at announced CES has a two week news window before iPad 2 takes over 24/7, until iPhone 4S hits in the summer. 100% Mindshare.

Just install a VNC client on your iPad and try to see how great a desktop OS is when controlled with a touchscreen. Really, try it out before declaring it the best solution.Best tablet is going to be the iSlate running Mac OS X Lion
(Apart from that any version of Mac OS X requires much more resources than iOS currently does.)
HA! I was thinking the same thing... too long, boring, and looked like early 2000 3D graphics. If they have a true high end product then they should have hired a high end production studio for their preview.

Still it's an oversized iPod but I need that oversizedness for movies and browsing on the pooper.
I'm looking fwd to what android can do better.

I'll be holding out for the 7" iPod touch. Steve said Apple will not make a 7" iPad, but he did not say anything about a 7" iPod touch...
I like how they were talking about the buttons and the lady said "well, the iPad only has one button." and Andy said "well that can get confusing sometimes."..........wait, what? One button can get confusing? If one home button confuses you, then you need to give up in life right now.
I caught that as well. Not owning an iPad perhaps somebody can confirm they do indeed get confused and lost when the ipad gets rotated and the button changes position.
Not sure if I'd want to "swipe" a sleeping screen just to find a button either.
I have experienced with both the iphone and ipad 'thats not where the button is' moments. It happens when using the devices in the dark. You go to press the home button, and you press the wrong end of the device. A soft home button that stays oriented to the bottom would correct this.
Its not a big deal by any means, but I can appreciate what the benefits of a soft home button (or an illuminated home button) would be.
I know. It's on my iOS 5 wish list. Please, Steve?
I think having no buttons at all is even more confusing.
The only problem with this is that you're more likely to touch it at the wrong times.
