Let's enlighten this thread.

What should I upgrade to an iPhone 4 or Droid X? :apple:

I think the better question is what carrier are you on? Both are highly capable devices. If you are on AT&T and prefer their service, get an iPhone. If you're on Verizon and prefer their service, get the Droid X. Sprint, EVO (or Epic), etc.

It depends on whether you want to be 'trendy'.

The iPhone is NOT dying, but it has lost its 'cool' factor, which is half the reason there are so many whiners on the iPhone forum as of late.

iPhone4 = smaller screen, worse reception, locked down features, etc... these things are a matter of preference, but with the iPhone you only have 1 option whereas there are about a dozen modern android phones with different characteristics to choose from.

Its no wonder fan boys on this forum are lashing out and feeling insecure.

Do your own research and decide whats right for you.

Your the Android fan that came to a mac forum... Yup, most of us are "fan boys" but I definately think you are the insecure one.

Edit..

UGH, I responded to another new "I only signed up once iphone 4 was released" users.

Motorola should worry bout there own issues right now The Droid X has plenty of them and there worse than than the antenna issue IE Screen Issue

Apple should be fixing their own issues right now instead of releasing videos of their competitors' phones with attenuation issues.

Note: Apple is misleading the public by saying that all handset makers have this issue, but its really an issue of DROPPED calls due to attenuation.

Not to mention the horrific proximity sensor issue that many ip4 owners are having.

They are deflecting the issue, and spinning it so all handset makers are to blame. Lets not be duped by Apple's marketing war machine.

Dropped calls don't seem to be the issue, unless you are going to consider it a issue with the 3gs, as they have nearly the same dropped call ratio.

No one knows how big of a problem the proximity issue is, so unless you have some data, I am willing to bet it is a small fraction of the 3+ million phones they have sold.

I do agree, both companies should concentrate on the issues within thier own products, but marketing overpowers all corporation ethics.

Except that a busted screen can be replaced with a phone that works. Not the case with the iPhone.

It is a design flaw, and a very big one.

If it's a flaw, then all smartphones have it, maybe to a lesser degree (but sometimes greater!); and it's not a big enough flaw to cause a lot more people to return it than is common with other cell phone models.

Can a Droid X get a signal in really weak coverage areas (-115 dBM or less) with 1 finger touching it in the left or right corner?

Apples next ad

We already sell more of these than Droids, imagine how many more of these we'd sell than the Droid's if it actually worked well!!!

droid sucks and they know it...anybody who has ever owned an iphone and droid would know this...i mean honestly they have a different phone every week...unless your loaded you will never keep the "new" droid longer than a month before its outdated

IPHONE 4 FTW!!!

Why does everyone refer to it as "Droid". Droid is ONE model of an Android phone. If you're talking about the operating system or all Android phones, then just say it, because the Droid is outdated compared to the iPhone 4.

Here's the thing I have a problem with most of these posts here: everyone feels that they're entitled the have the superior phone for a year. Wrong, that only works with Apple products. Phones change many times and get better faster when there's more than one company driving to be the best.

Now, back on topic. Apple isn't innocent, they had this coming to them. The fact that they played this antenna issue as a "non-issue" and blamed other companies is totally irresponsible. Touching the bottom left hand corner off a phone and dropping a call is totally different then karate-gripping your phone and losing bars.

Not anymore. I don't think it's faster than the iP4, nor the upcoming Droid Pro or even the HTC EVO for that matter. In the world of Android, it's pretty much outdated in terms of specs. Only the software can keep up (for now, that is ).

the iP4 I do not believe is over 1Ghz chip. Nexus is still faster.

Faster clock speed than iP4 (Overclockable to 1.2Ghz with undervolt to save battery), expandable to 32gb, faster browser, more frequent software updates, slightly larger screen, same battery life. Yep, definitely still better than the iP4 hardware wise.

As far as the other Android phones, it will be at the near top for a long time as it will get all of the optimizations and software updates long before any of the other Android phones do.

Only to developers which has increased its value.

Can't wait for Gingerbread... Will load it on my Nexus before all other major phones out there and sell it on eBay for major bucks.
