This sound like a phone of the future with all its automatic capabilities AND 24 hour battery life. However, the always listening feature is somewhat concerning. Also, I doubt the claim of 24 hour battery life.

I want the voice activation phrase to be:

"Gosh, that Italian family at the next table sure is quiet"

Chances are they judge solely on specs and specs alone.

That's one part.

The phone doesn't bring anything new to the table. It's essentially catching up to iPhone 5 from last year. GoogleNow is available on iPhone5, plus Siri.

Only difference is the bigger screen but then Samsung is already there with multiple sizes.

Google still have problems with fake marketing claims, and unreliable h/w reputation to fight with. Only Google fans will get this. Rest of world will stick to their favorites.

Maybe someday voice recognition will be so accurate that it's actually convenient to use all the time. And maybe then will it be socially acceptable to use it in public. I think we're many years away from that happening.

Right now it's a nice feature that comes in handy in certain circumstances. I would like to see a usage statistic (for smartphone/human interaction) on Siri and Google Now. I bet its less than 1%

well with NSA and everything i am sure google is the least of our problems

At least the NSA is at least mandated to appear to be working in our best interest. Google we know exists to make a profit any way they can and have proven they will walk any line and even cross if they don't think they will get caught or feel back lash from it.

Now how is that 'Designed by You' if you can just choose a different colour of the back?

Edit:
On their site it says ''Through our online studio, Moto Maker, you choose the colors, and decide on the details: front, back, accents, memory, wallpapers, even add a name or a short message.''

Only for ATT customers.

I use Siri frequently for Maps and Reminder. Try the iOS7 beta. ;-)

Clumsy

This looks like a clumsy copy of the iPhone. Remember folks, large is easy; it's small that's hard. I just don't get the rush for larger phones.

How is it a copy of the iPhone, especially if it's large?

That's because the phone is not so inspiring. It's really not a sleek or unique phone by any measure compared to HTC, Sony and iPhone 5.

This is why the Android fans are bitching. People posting praises about the phone... Ahem... *cough*

unless youre POTUS or the leader of Taliban, what do you say that you're so worried about???
How many people would want to know that you're going by the nearest Starbucks on the way to work??
Not but you could be having a private conversation or giving your bank or checking account number to someone and one of those pesky hacked apps you bought from Google play figures out how to tap into this always on feature.

It's a nice phone, but it is priced too high at $199 on a two year contract. And that just gets you 16GB.

For a phone that is supposed to be designed for the masses, it certainly isn't priced that way.

I think Apple can roll over and go back to sleep.

I also think that lack of a tablet to compliment the phone will hurt it when compared to Apple. Of course just could just be me. But I would be curious to know how many smartphone owners have a tablet also.

Android fans will bite.

But yes, specs is too last year. That's why people declare it's expensive.

Funny why Google and Samsung feel the need to make false marketing claims these days. Can't innovate anymore ?

Google servers listening on every conversation … waiting for a command? no thank you.

No offense, but you're probably not important enough for Google to really care about what you do. You're just a mere mortal like the rest of us folks. :)

For a moment I thought I was on a website that focuses on Apple news and rumors.

Yup, it never stops to amazing the typical comments I'll read when a story has anything to do with Google or Android. One story about something other than Apple and ya'll get your panties in a bunch. Wake up, there's more to tech than Apple. Just because it's an Apple site, doesn't mean we can't discuss other companies or say negative stuff about Apple.

I think they've doing that for a while now.

People here should be used to that! :p

It also doesn't mean people can't laugh at folks for praising a normal piece of hardware.

I don't know man. Google and Samsung claim a lot of things like long battery life, high clock speed, wireless charging, but are basically just boosted claims and empty promises.

Do no evil, my foot.

People can certainly laugh or bitch at google for this normal piece of hardware. Just look at the Android fans' reaction on the Android sites.

Good to see phone manufacturers concentrating on battery life now, the only bane in existence for smart phones. Hope apple takes on the idea.

I'm sure they will, but the phone isn't targeted to Android fans. It's target market is "everyone". And "everyone" isn't going to be interested in paying $199 on contract for this phone, no matter how many colors they can choose.

I think it is a nice phone, but it doesn't hit it out of the ball park for Motorola.

It's a $650 phone made of plastic.
