I now have you tagged as an AT&T fanboy / unequivocal Sprint hater. Enjoy.

I switched to Sprint after 6 years with AT&T also. Happy so far. There's some areas where I notice slower speeds, but AT&T was usually super slow, when it worked at all. And god forbid I try using data on AT&T if I was in a crowd of more than 20 people. Absolutely useless.

Tag me whatever you want:)
I bash AT&T equally cause of their greedy tactics with FaceTime only on shared plans and other stuff. But their speeds and service where I am are solid.
About sprint I just speak the truth. They are horrible all around.
I'm sorry you have to use them:D

People need to understand one carrier is only better than another depending on the area you live in not taking price into consideration.

I had sprint for 15 years in Orlando, Florida where the Sprint speed on the new iphone is like less than 1mb a second and data sucks. I switched to AT&T last year and could not be happier, I am saving money way better faster service. I get 30-50mb down something Sprint was NEVER that fast

you guys updates your PRL on your phones? it will help tremendously with speeds. at least it did for my roomate. went from 300 kbps to 800 kbps

Yes.

In fact the only way I've made my phone (nexus s) usable currently is by forcing a Verizon PRL and keeping the phone in roam mode.

There are supposed to be network updates, or new towers, or the tower is down, or a ticket is open, or whatever other none sense they want to spew out of their mouths at the time. I wish I could get 300k. 300k would be usable. I get around 2k using Sprint's "service".

Yes, I used to dial update almost everyday... I also end up putting Verizon PRL in my 4s my last month with Sprint in order to be able to get emails and stream music...

I hear you.
But I rather not sit there and wait with hopes and dreams for the future while in the meantime Im paying this company every month for subpar service.
There are options out there where you dont have to wait and hope for your service to improve in the future;)

I did and it was the best decision EVER!

A few calls to Sprint customer service will douse the "I'm glad I left AT&T" glow.

As a Sprint user stuck in contract, I agree. They are very good at giving excuses.

I'm very surprise with AT&T customer service.. they are very nice and they return all the calls when they tell you they're going to call you. Very happy... maybe because I'm a new customer? I hope not..

I think we're discussing NY here... ;) but to be honest I started experiencing problems with Sprint in NYC/Long Island after they released the iPhone 4s.. never had a problem before and I was really happy with Sprint.

I made the exact opposite switch. After just 9 months with Sprint I could NOT deal with those .3 Mbps data speeds anymore. I am getting speeds averaging 4 Mbps down on AT&T HSPA+ and when I'm in LTE coverage I get around 25Mbps.

I guess it is different for everyone. I am getting pretty decent speeds.

I just switched from AT&T to verizon after 9 years but I didn't post about it. (I guess I just did)

People that left Sprint will come flocking back once the LTE upgrade is done. VZW and ATT peak LTE speeds may be better, but you can barely use the damn connection.

I was very displeased with sprint for most of the year waiting for the LTE upgrades, but they have come, with more every week, and I am becoming quite satisfied.

If Sprint can't even build out a reliable 3G network with few iPhones on there, what makes you think that their LTE network will be any better? AT&T and VZW have the experience from their 3G networks to ensure that their LTE networks will have enough backhaul and capacity in high traffic areas.

Remember, AT&T had no idea the 3G iPhone would tear down their old 3G network. And look now. Their 3G network is faster than Sprints and Sprint has had years to prepare for the iPhone and it still sucks. AT&T has been constantly fixing issues and their LTE network (and VZW's LTE network) are top-notch.

That's a tremendous difference:D
lol

Lol, that's about 1/2 the speeds I get when I get throttled on LTE. Sad that people actually dump VZW and AT&T to go to that crap.

Lol I hate the term fanboy... People use it like troll when they disagree with someone.

Yeah I was very pleased with my AT&T+ hspa coverage/speed and LTE speeds, not pleased with me being throttled at 3gb on 3G and their FaceTime policy. I was lucky and found someone to trade me my AT&T unlimited for their verizon unlimited :) so no throttling

Very soon Long Island will see speeds like this on Sprint. Enjoy ;)

That's pretty poor LTE speeds for a network with barely any traffic on it.

Almost all of the 9/21 speed tests were done outside of the Boylston Street Apple Store here in Boston on iPhone 5 launch day, so it was high traffic. 68 mbps down test near there also.

I hear you on the term, I like to say it as it is and even though I like AT&T's service they do lots of stuff that piss me off and Im not affraid to point them, same thing with Apple sometimes. Its not like they're perfect and everything they do is right and everyone is wrong.

Not bad on your deal though, worked out pretty good.
What I dont like about Verizon is their policy about grandfathered plans. If you renew your contract you have to lose your old plan or keep buying devices full price. Also their prices are higher than AT&T and with AT&T I get 25% off from a fan discount account so its hard to drop that.
I dont go anywhere near 5GB's per month or ever had gone that high so Im sure I wont notice any throttling with my i5.

Exactly.
People throw out numbers like that thinking we're all clueless about Springs CDMA 3G limitations and actual speeds.
Glad that you're happy with them but tone down the bs meter a little:D

Yep! I've been with Sprint for years, used them all over in the U.S. and Canada and those speeds don't happen. They're reliable and fast enough for what I need, but that's a real stretch.

Exactly more expensive, and I too had a discount with AT&T :( 20% that sucked. I'm enjoying the broad LTE coverag though. I do a lot of traveling for work. I still have my AT&T iPad with LTE so I have both options if service isn't good on one.

Yeah the none subsidized prices suck. I just am a heavy user so the lure of none throttle one me over. I don't plan to buy a new iphone for some time (well see how that goes) so the phone pricing shouldn't be a problem.
Oh and I do miss my voice and data. I don't use it too often but after 5 years with AT&T i still forget I can't do that now.

Cool.
If you travel a lot then Verizon most likely will be a better option.
I travel maybe once or twice a year if that:D
How much data do you usually rack up a month and what's the most you hit before?

Houston is actually far larger, more expansive, higher population (2 million + more people than Boston). Don't know where you're getting your data that there's no LTE traffic here. Already know quite a few people who have switched to Sprint here for LTE. Sprint made it clear that roll out is abt 30-40% complete in most of the initial roll out cities with the exception of KC, their HQ. Agree though that ATT and Verizon's LTE networks are much faster at this point. But dont really see a huge difference in real world usage once you are over 6mb down.

Never noticed any meaningful difference with Sprint vs AT&T vs T-Mobile and I've lived in many diff cities. Never used Verizon before.

Suburbs of Atlanta 3G speeds on iPhone 4S. Not on par with AT&T or Verizon but hey life is not fair...thats why bra's come in different sizes!

They are just a horrible company.

Now they are censoring forum posts over on their Sprint.com community forum and are moving meaningful posts from their network & coverage forum to the "speak your mind" forum and locking the topic.

Sprint can't even host a forum without putting blinders on.

They don't deserve anyone's hard earned (or otherwise obtained) money.

If you're within 14 days of signing up with Sprint, cancel and sign up with someone else. Read the forums, google "horrible sprint service" - it's just not worth it. Even if it's good right now, remember, you're going in to a two year contract with a company that loves to hate it's customers.

If you're in a Sprint LTE coverage area, what do you think is going to happen after the users in your area also upgrade to LTE phones? Your service is going to tank, just like their 3G network and just like their WiMax network.

What other wireless company in recent history has made such piss poor decisions as to a) buy NexTel and b) Purchase 15 Billion dollars worth of iPhones (without upgrading their network! while all the AT&T drama was already going on!).

Dan Hesse might as well be John Sculley's nephew.

Just to be clear, you don't need 80 Mb/s to download an email. If you have good coverage, even 0.5 Mb/s will get the email relatively quickly.

If you're more of the multimedia person who streams videos and what not... then yeah, stay far from Sprint 3G.

It depends on the OPs usage but if he's getting better service, who cares?
It's become a piss contest now, to see who has the fastest LTE speeds :) I personally think that everything over 10 Mb/s is good.

My Verizon 3G speeds are just about the same. But in real world usage, it's just as good as my 6 Mb/s AT&T HSPA+
Verizon / AT&T doesn't automatically mean better (though in most cases, I guess it does hahaha)
