System you initially ordered?
Wow. This is getting very confusing, very fast... did they even say anything about the second MP?
They only mentioned the replacement.
My guess, the order reference didn't being up the display.

That would be the icing on the cake.![]()
I just wish it'll snow on Christmas Day.
Now that would be the icing on the cake![]()
Morally speaking, I think the right thing is to contact Apple
to return the extra machine. But that's just my view. Yours
may differ.
Quite apart from any moral or legal concerns, you may want
to consider what will happen if you ever need that machine
serviced, or if it ever phones home with its serial number.
When it comes to free gift's I won't feel any guilt or negativity.
And why should I?
You guys are all saying it's wrong... it might be so, but you're missing the point entirely. First of all, I didn't steal the machine from someone else's property and I didn't find it while walking the dog, it didn't falling off the back of a truck (so to speak). The delivery guy asked me to sign for the goods being delivered (to my property) and I did... Is it my fault I received more than I ordered?![]()
I don't think any one is missing the point. It's not a free gift, a gift is intended and obviously this wasn't. Let's forget the moral issues with this though as this thread might serve as good information for anyone else who has something similar happen in the future.
Whatever you decide to do, I wouldn't go setting up the extra Mac Pro just yet. I don't know how Apple deal with orders, it may have been that your ACD got changed to a 2.8GHz MP somewhere along the line and it seems likely that will be on record.
when we did the back to school promo in the UK (Buy a macbook + nano, get 95£ rebate) we received 3x95£ rebate checks instead of 1.
Apple didnt email or anything about the checks, however we decided to return the 2 which we weren't due, we received no notification from apple that they had received the returned checks. Therefore i think apple are pretty unorganized when it comes to this stuff, dude keep the MP.
keep that mp but dont set it up for 30 days...
if they ask you something you say you called and the guy you talked to did nothing special about it and that now its too late ...
anyway "free gift" not so much when you see the price of apple MP on japanese apple store....
personally i want to buy the base model and its 350 000 yen on the apple store and can be found at 250 000 yen (1000$ less) on some other stores (with same apple guaranty of course..). i dont understand why someone will order a mp from apple in japan... ^_^,
And when I called Apple about this, they don't have any records of it.. so, why the hell should I waste my time for a mistake someone else did? You go think about it for a while...
I don't get it, you are obviously getting a big ego woody from telling everyone on the internet that you got something from Apple for free you didn't ask for, or even deserve from an objective standpoint, and now you say you don't know what karma is. Are you asking for something?
Even if you don't know karma, it sure as hell knows you; whether or not you'll post later that it introduced itself to you is another story
...
Now if the guys computer you "acquired" was in a life and death situation and had to have that mac pro for little jimmy on christmas day or he might take a short walk off a tall building...thats a differnt story.![]()
nice, you scored an extra 2.5k bonus?![]()
Well I don't know the laws there (you're in Japan right?), but I'm pretty sure there are ways for them to get their stuff back.
