It would be interesting though if you looked up your serial on one of those apple serial sites to see if you can find out a bit more about your present.
Eventually Apples system will catch it, if not than sooner or later you'll do the right thing and return it.
I'm sure there is a tracking number from the shipper that you could give apple and there shipping department could go back and track it and find out how a 2000 dollar plus mistake happened.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone
The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 (the "Regulations") came into force in the UK on 31st October 2000. Rather than cover all details of the Regulations, this Article highlights the most important requirements.
Inertia selling / unsolicited goods
A person who, having sent in the course of business unsolicited goods to a person with a view to the recipient acquiring them but who has neither agreed to acquire or return the goods, makes a demand for payment or threatens legal proceedings to get payment will be guilty of an offence. The recipient of such unsolicited goods may use, deal with or dispose as if they were an unconditional gift.
They'll just raise the price of the Mac Pro to compensate for it.Soo.. that means Apple can come knocking but I can blatantly refuse to return it and there's nowt they can do. They can't even charge me.![]()

Haven't heard of this. Got a link to one of the sites you are referring to?

This is the first hit I got in google. It's not amazing but is still good fun.

In your quote it says "with a view to the recipient acquiring them".
That is not the case with your "gift".
p12, The Sale of Goods by Michael Bridge (Oxford University Press):
"[...] a number of points have to be satisfied. First the goods have
to be sent with a view to the recipient acquiring them. This would
protect the sender if the goods were mistakenly sent to the wrong
person or the wrong address."

Thats a shame you lack common courtesy. Imagine if you owned a business and misshipped something and someone like you got it and was like this.
Plus, the misshipment is not considered unsolicited goods. Unsolicited goods used to be when a company sent out something in the mail to you with a bill. If you didn't return it, the bill was valid. This is no longer happening because of laws that allow you to keep stuff that is sent like that.
In your case, you ACCEPTED a misshipped package. By accepting it (i wonder if you signed for it) you are accepting a sales contract from apple. IF they discover this and bill you, you are responsible for the bill. this is not a case that would have acceptable negligence. you can't say, well i didn't order anything, you did. in the process of your order, something else was shipped.
The funniest part to me is that you come on a forum and talk about it and how you plan on keeping it.
Urotora Akira, is that right? is that how you spell it?
I signed for it cause it came as part of my original order... I was expecting to receive one system not two.. I didn't know about it till the driver told me to wait, there's another box!![]()
if the second box had your name on it, and you signed for it, you acknowledged that you received it. You were expecting something else, and got something you did not order.
My guess is you are probably 18-20, and really don't understand the implications of how you are doing business with other companies.
The best part is, though, you are posting it all here, and it is now all in record, so you can't turn around and say anything to the contrary. and i bet apple sales management is getting a good laugh reading it as we type. thats the cool thing about public forums. with just a link, you can email anyone and have anyone look at it. you should be proud of your boasting...
I feel for you. I do hope that someday, you make a mistake, and someone screws you over. then, you can look back and know what it is like.
Plus, you need to work on your website. the links in your blog and other links just don't work right.
See, you're speaking to me like you know me; like i'm daft enough to post and use my real name online. Sorry, I don't trust the internet that much, especially public forums.
As for my website, well, I don't use the blog on my domain any more, all my bloggings are on mixi. Have fun!
i don't know you but i know enough of you and people like you.
well, have fun with your stolen merchandise. tell yourself it was unsolicited and enjoy it.
it will come back to haunt you, and i hope sometime in life, someone screws you over then you can come here and boast how awesome it was someone stole from you.
Ok, so did the second box have your name and address on it?
If it did, then yes, you should lawfully be allowed to keep it. If it didn't, you are unlawfully keeping it and you should've reported it to the shipping company and some poor customer is sitting with your cinema display instead of his/her Mac Pro.
It's hardly stolen.
actually, it is. you'll find out shortly.
cheers.
