Similar to theatrical releases, it's available earlier for an additional price and at a later point will become available for a typical rental price for non-subscribers and included with subscription for those who are subscribers.

And remember... unlike DVD and BlueRay discs, you own this for as long as Disney says you own this. That is, you're paying $30 to get temporary access to it. I'm sure as soon as your subscription ends, the access ends as well.

Which, in that sense, is still better than what you get when you pay to see a movie a movie theater where you only get access to it during that specific showtime and that's it.

And only in a specific location, often in a non-optimal seating location, typically with coughing strangers sitting nearby, etc. etc.

i already pay them why should i be treated like a 2nd class citizen.
streaming sites are still competing with Free whether they want to admit it or not, why should i settle for that and treat it like me eventually getting access is a favor.?

this is arrogance and if you let them get away with it, they'll just keep abusing you.

You know people spend money don't you when they go to a movie theater? This is a premium advanced access.
when they go to the theater, you get use of their large screen, presumably better sound system possibly more comfy chair then the person would have at home. (thats becoming less true which is why pre-pandemic theater usage has been trending down)

in this scenario not only do i need to use my own screen, sound system, chair etc. but i need to already be a paying subscriber to D+, they use my bandwidth to stream the movie to me.

with a theater, you can make a value-add argument, with this its me using my own resources and double paying them for the privilege.

If you don't care to see it, wait and save your money.
I care to see it, mostly out of some morbid curiosity, i also feel entiled to it because as ive stated IMO I've paid for it.

I will take part of your advice and save my money but as i say out of spite rather than wait i will most likely "sail the high seas"
why because media companies get triggered with pirates despite how studies have found it doesn't hurt sales and they already as you pointed out with the screenshot say i will be legally entitled to watch it at some point anyway.

You are paying for early access, similar to paying to watch a movie when it's released in movie theaters. If you wait the movie will become available without the need for that easily access, as moves do after they had their run in movie theaters and become available for rent.

I never heard anyone complain about streaming 4K titles using their bandwidth? Do you have some very low data cap?

its an argument on principle.
(i have similar feelings to Web ad's honestly its why ive used adblocking for near 2 decades whenever possible.)

i have plenty of bandwidth(at least my home internet, Canada's mobile bandwidth limits are laughably low), its the point that not only are my physical resources being used, but so are my digital ones, there is no value-add, unlike a theater.

its the equivalent to my paying to have access to buy something (or in the case of ads, paying to be advertised to.)
i guess the closest real world analog if i had to argue against my position would be costco's membership is similar but they have thier own value-add's to justify you paying for the "privilege" of buying.

Look people have different income levels, a lot of people are two professionals with kids these days. Anything that entertains the family is a big nothing compered to the expensed & time of keeping kids entertained. I can understand you are value orientated, but others won't even bat an eye doing this. ;)

true, as i say above thats the main reason i paid for D+ to begin with, personally it was just as easy for me to use Plex on my shield or kodi etc. but less so for toddlers/young kids which i regularly have to watch now.

just cause some can justify it doesn't make what Disney is doing OK, they feel justified in doing what they do, just as i will feel justified in my response to their actions.

eitherway i still have my opinion on it

The movie theaters have some things that just can’t be replicated at home - the 30ft tall screen, the feeling of shared experience and excitement when 800 people gasp at the same time when something is revealed, the whole ritual of queuing up to get in and the excitement building before the film starts.

I see the trend you mention continuing, and I’m torn...

I can live without those things. I like being able to pause the movie whenever I want. I don't want to hear a crying baby or talking kid when I go to the movies.

What I hate about this is that you don’t own it for $30. You just have access to it until you cancel your subscription. This is a way for Disney to keep people from cancelling their membership. I’m okay with waiting for this to be released on 4K Blu-ray which will have a digital copy for the same $30. Or I’ll wait for it to be available to me on D+ later down the road.

Im also the kind of person that hates buying digital because at any moment you can lose access to that content. This is why I always buy physical copies. when possible.

This is why I always buy my content on iTunes or Microsoft Movies & TV. If I want to watch 24 for example (5th time watching it), I have it on my iTunes. I don't need to pay Hulu to watch it. I have been paying Netflix for YEARS. The only show I like on there now is Stranger Things. When its done, I won't have a need to pay for Netflix anymore. However, I will not be able to re-watch Stranger Things unless I sign up for it again.

I know for some people, they do not like to re-watch content. But I like to watch something at least 3 times if I really enjoy it. If I find it amazing, like 24, I usually watch the entire thing once a year or two. I watched the first few seasons of Dexter about 5 times too. I love re-watching stuff. This is why I am not a fan of Hulu, Netflix, Disney+. I would rather spend $30 for a TV show every year, then $7.99/month when I only want to watch that show.

I have thousands of dollars spent on my iTunes! I do not really buy that many new stuff.

As far as losing access to Digital content is concerned. You cannot buy Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars anywhere (digitally on US stores). However, I still have it on my iTunes library. Problem is I bought the Standard Def version when the HD one was available and regret that decision :(. Also, a friend of mine can still download the Deadpool game on Steam. I cannot buy the game on there, but my friend still has access to it.

Tbh it’s good with options. I hope it works out. And that it continues this way. Some movies would be nicer to watch at home rather than cinema. I like to be able to choose myself. Where I live for example movies are only in cinemas for about two weeks. If I miss that window I have to wait for Blu-ray release or streaming release. But if I had the option to buy it right away. It would be perfect. Then I don’t have to wait for 3-6 months for the Blu-ray.

Jungle Book was good, Lion King was brilliant. Aladdin wasn't as bas a critics claimed. The others have been meh. Certainly wouldn't pay £30 on top of the monthly subsciption when you don't actually own it. Why not just wait a few months and by the Blu-Ray/4K for less.

I hope this is a decent movie! I am a massive fan of Chinese combat/warrior. I like Jackie Chan, Jet Li and others. And especially if the music is good in it. I like Chinese music quite a bit. Really good music makes me fall in love with shows and movies. For example, I liked Persona 5 until Rivers in the Desert started playing. Then it became one of my favorite games of all time. I prolonged that fight and was smiling like crazy. Doctor Who was good (11th doctor for me) until "I am the Doctor" started playing during a speech from Matt Smith then it became one of my favorite shows of all time. I do not think Dragon Ball Super Broly's main fight would have been as Epic without the fun chanting song (same with Ultra Instinct in the Tournament of Power with the Ultimate Battle song).

Just split the cost between 3 people and voila, $10 movie tickets without the $8 water bottles and $15 popcorn.
It astounds me that people buy the "food" at theatres. Usually low quality and always outrageously priced. Lots of people seem to be incapable of going anywhere for 90 to 120 minutes without eating.
