I agree with you. It seems a lot of people these days want everything for free or handed to them in a nice pretty box with a bow on top without having to work for it.

If you guys want something free, go ask the government, they seem to be doing handouts.

What are the odds. Two people who can read but not comprehend. Amazing, well, not really. Never let the facts get in the way of going off on on an irrelevant tangent.

The amount of time someone puts into something is irrelevant to what it's worth. That's basic economics.

Nor did I ask for a handout. Try actually reading my post.

If multifl0w is nothing more than a pretty face on the Apple MT function it's not worth $4.99.

I couldn't care less what he charges for it, but it should be described accurately so people can make an informed buying decision.

The fact I can use dozens of apps and they all get put into the Apple MT display and if I use more than 9 then multifl0w crashes my phone that's simply poor coding.

Go use some other post to go off on an ill informed rant.

I did read your post. Try actually reading my post!

I never said that amount of time or effort a person put into something equated to its worth or value. What I said was is that if someone wants to charge for something they put time and effort into, that is their prerogative.

If you had done even a modicum of research into the product, like read the description on Cydia, you would have known that all Multifl0w did was provide an alternate interface to Apple's task switcher.

So, as I said previously, the app may have no value to you but you don't get determine if it should be free or not.

Multifl0w is not worth $5 to me so I am not buying it. But I am not going to declare that it should be free or complain that it is not described accurately.

Exactly where did I say I should get to determine if it should be free?

Next time I will check with you before expressing my opinion...NOT.

Too funny. This coming from someone that couldn't understand from the description that all Multifl0w does is provide an alternate interface to Apple's iOS 4.x task manager.

I am sure you will be the hit of detention this afternoon.

Here are the things I've been able to figure out about it over the course of testing it for a bit.

1) This app does not multi-task. It just piggybacks off Apple's multi-tasking/save state system. It's just another way (same as Apple's native task bar) of access apps that are in a MT/save state. Any app not yet updated for 4.0 so it will not MT/SS will not show as a preview in multifl0w.

2) Closing the previews in multifl0w does not close the apps out of a multi-tasking or save state. It even goes as far as to remove it from :apple:'s native task bar but does not close them. This can be seem by opening an app the has a loading screen. If you open the app and close it via multifl0w then relaunch it's still in a saved state and will not show the loading screen. Do the same thing from :apple:'s native task bar and on next open it will launch from start and show the loading screen.

3) This app is not a replacement for the native task bar (not yet?) if you care about memory management at all. I have a problem with it setting Activator for double press anywhere being as how it does nothing more then just shows preview of recent app to go into a MT/SS and doesn't do a good job of managing apps that are multi-tasked. Not to mention it messes with things like media controls on the lock screen. I'm not sure if the developer has it set up where the previews 'fall off' after a certain amount of time but they disappear from multifl0w if you let it sit long enough.

A lot of these problems I'm going to chalk up to being an early release but there's not telling where the developer plans to go with this app as far as functionality. If some of the support email some people have been claiming here is true then I don't have a lot of faith in it. 3gs and ipad don't have enough memory to store a preview image of more then 9 apps? This app shouldn't be a memory hog and he makes it sound like the app handles multi-tasking natively which it doesn't.

I have an iPhone4 and multifl0w crashed on me. Whether you have 256 mb of ram or 512 mb, the program should not crash.

Also, what's unacceptable with only having 20 - 30 mb of free ram?

interesting that is crashing for you also on an Ip4, I think once the app gets more polished it will handle RAM and everything else much better.

For me at least 20-30 of free RAM was no problem before iOS4. But now that iOS 4 has seven new multitasking service that also are consuming a small part of your RAM it matters, the 3GS only has 256MB of RAM while yours has 512MB to work with all these new multitasking features... Let me explain my reason for it being unacceptable for me: I have placetrack on my phone which sends to Google Latitude my location every time I move a specific distance and every time it needs to send something it uses RAM, I also use skype and whatsapp and they are both running in the background so everytime it needs to check connection or someone calls/txt through them is also consuming RAM, then I have push email, contacts and calendars w/ google so everytime there is a change they also use some RAM. Then I also have a couple of MS addons that are running always and consume when needed for the appropiate task. After all of these and for example you have 20MB of free RAM and you start using the ipod app or surfing safari then it will consume even more RAM and then lets say while surfing you get an email or skype or wtver then the RAM that was not being use gets relocatted for the new webpage you just opened and must sign back in to skype or simple crash of the app you were using. (end of reply to MikePA)

Also, I really like multifl0w new style, it's in apple expose style and not copying any other phone, maybe he changed it also so that they can't sue him for copyright or something. I think is a little expensive, but if the developer wants to charge x amount that's their decision. If you really don't want to pay for it there are other ways to getting it if you feel that the developer doesn't deserve it. I understand if someone complains of the high price, but asking for it to be free is another thing...

What's so confusing? I expressed my opinion that I thought multifl0w ought to be free. sidewinder believes he should be the sole arbiter of which opinions are valid and can be expressed.

Carlanga - Thanks for the explanation.

Also, in my opinion, in its current form, it should be free, like ProSwitcher.

I installed this yesterday and don't understand it.

It takes a standard OS function and it makes it less usable. Plus you have to pay for the privilege.

Not to mention it crashes a lot. A big avoid from me.

The latest from Aaron Ash:

iOS closes out backgrounded apps when it runs out of memory automatically, so it shouldn't be that. If you're able to send a syslog I'll be able to figure out what's going wrong.

SB failed and restarted into safe mode after I attempted to re-arrange one of the 9 apps on the multifl0w screen. I sent a syslog to Aaron.

love how it worked on my friends phone so i bought one myself. I really love it until it starts crashing my phone 2-3 times in an afternoon. =(

I didnt even have 9 apps opened up and it still crashes. So i uninstalled it.

Didn't care for it at first, love it now!

I have it set to double press home "anywhere" via Activator, and even with this, when I double press home on the Lockscreen, I get the Ipod controls:cool: guess i'm lucky

I tested the memory management ability of multiflow with a bunch of different apps.

It seems to only truly close the app if it uses iOS4 multitasking.

If you are currently using Backgrounder on an app, multiflow cannot close it.

I tried it with Real Racing. With "Native" overide in Backgrounder, multiflow can close this app completely.

When I enable "backgrounder" to multitask it, multiflow closes all shortcuts to the app, but when I relaunch the app it's still right where I left it.

So you'll need SBsettings or the standard task switcher in order to close backgrounded apps. Or you could disable backgrounding :)

I haven't had background installed since I've been on before 4.0. Any app the isn't updated for 4.0 will not even show up in multifl0w. It does not close apps that save state or 'multi-task' nativity under 4.0.

I don't wanna sound like a party pooper! but what is all the excitement about this app anyway?

Reading these posts, I just get the feeling this is just a "tack on" (piggybacking app) over what is obviously a superior and more stable multitasking that the iOS4 natively provides.

is it's because it can show you thumbnail windows of your actual app (screen) as oppose to the "less impressive" icons presentation of the iOS 4's Multitasking taskbar?

If that's the only thing it has over the native M.Tasking and it's riddled with bugs that make the phone crash all the time, then really what's all the hubbub?

Wouldn't this all be similar to someone installing 22 inch chrome wheels on their tiny VW golf, or Civic that gives the car a bumpy, rough ride and damages the shocks but it looks "cool"??

So what is the appeal of this app anyway? I'm asking seriously is there something I am missing here? like I use "Radioshift" a radio streaming app that isn't supported by the latest iOS4, thus I can't really stream radio in the background while I use my Cyclometer, cycling app (I wish I could run these two apps simultaneously) but even on iOS4.0.1 of my iPhone4 I can't... would Multifl0w make that possible? (without installing other buncha memory and battery sucking apps from Cydia) if so.. now you got my attention, otherwise I am not interests in stupid "chrome wheels" (cosmetics)

I don't get it either. Which is why I have not purchased Multifl0w. It doesn't do anything new for iOS 4.x.

When I saw what the app did, it made sense pre-iOS 4.x since Backgrounder didn't seem to offer an easy way to access apps running in the background.

With iOS 4.x, that really isn't a problem. I do like being able to see more than 4 or 5 apps that are running in the background or in a saved state. Instead of an Expose interface, I would like to have a multi-row/multi-column (grid) interface pop up instead of the default scrolling row when I double tap the home button. I know what the apps are based on the icon and name. Sliding the grid to the right would still give access to the iPod and orientation lock controls.

We could see up to 25 apps with a 5x5 grid.

My battery has been terrible today. Uninstalled.

Worked for me, the 28% battery drainage I experienced 2 nights ago with it installed became 3% last night after uninstalling it, so uh yeah, wouldnt recommend this to anyone.

It is faster than Apple's multitasking (how is Apple's even slower? Doesn't make sense...) but crashed my phone a number of times. Also the UI wasn't the best, it is hard to see 9 small windows and identify what apps they are. I also didn't like that I was "suppose" to close out apps after 9 so the thing wouldn't crash supposedly. I would rather have the system close them out when it needs more memory.

Wasted $5 unless this gets a major overhaul

I contacted the dev and he said a new update should
be out in a few days to address these bugs.

Until then I uninstalled it to conserve battery and limit crashing.

Battery life is fine on mine but it does tend to crash every once in awhile. Nothing too major though. Still like the app.
