Had the same problem here in Singapore with 12 Pro Max. Apple replaced the phone and now working fine for last 5 days.

I get a similar issue on a 6s in the UK on Three. Randomly goes to No Signal in areas with known signal. Often seems to happen when coming off wifi or when emerging from the Underground.

On my 12 i tend to get far worse service than my last couple of phones. it reads 5G on my phone, but pages load like molasses. I have shrugged it off as growing pains with 5G by both Apple and Verizon.
I heard a rumor somewhere that 6G is going to be pretty darn good. Makes your 4G feel like 5G on your LTE.

Good luck beta testers. Another reason I'm waiting for the iPhone 13.
I had a similar issue with my iPhone 7 when it was released. Eventually the issue was fixed.

This was happening to me in Boston a lot last month but seems to have been rectified in the last week or so.

Absolutely no dropped connections. And my LTE speed has increased by 300% compared to the Pixel 3 I had prior. loving my 12 Pro.

Unfortunately I am working from home and I make 50 calls per day - about 5% get disconnected. I have an iPhone 12 mini. Apple still hasn't fixed the dropped calls in Continuity either - another 10% of phone calls get disconnected on my Mac forcing me to quickly grab my iPhone.

Also have this problem with 12 Pro Max. I've had to turn the phone off and back on to get a connection again. Usually happens when i'm using maps and leaving a 5g area and it can't switch to LTE.

Try this: Settings -> Mobile Data
Either the connection will repeatedly drop and then reconnect at this point, or
the connection will drop at here: Settings -> Mobile Data -> Data Plans
Note: if you're not at this settings screen, the connection is fine.

yup, happens to me every time.

Just because your phone reads 5G doesn't mean it's actually on 5G. Apple tweaked the signal indicator to display the 5G icon to denote best available connection, not that you're necessarily on 5G. It's part of Smart Data Mode.
Just tested at home on 5G with WIFI off and it works great.
Are you in a city near a mmWave tower? If not, you could be testing Sub6 or 4G LTE. The 5G icon is not an indicator you're on 5G.

Mine will go from full bars to no service while sitting by itself in the same spot. Switching airplane mode on and off restores service but I’ve seen it go back to no service within a few seconds afterwards occasionally. There clearly is an issue impacting at least some devices.
Same issue I been having since day 1

I lose service entirely on my iPhone 12 Pro Max occasionally. Not sure why, but nothing fixes the problem, it eventually comes back 10ish mins later.

I get that every year there are issues, and I get the old saying about first gen Apple anything, in this case something related to the 5G perhaps, but between this and the other issues I’m reading about, my gf and I are holding off for the 13. My 11PM is great, and her XS Max is also humming along just fine. Having already decided to hold onto our watches until the S7, our wallets are happy.

I know, I know, there are plenty of users who are just fine, but......
The problem is that the post Jobs Apple HATES to admit their mistake. Case in point: their MacBook Pro keyboard problem took THREE GENERATIONS to fix (IE go back to the old scissor switch instead of the butterfly switch mechanism). So it’s a gamble how long you’re gonna wait.
