I'm not a pet, I'm patient and on official carrier. I don't update without a jb and I'm grateful for everyones volunteer free work.
I don't demand or expect anything from strangers. If it happens it's great that's all.
I'm more mature than that and don't act like a 10 year like some on this thread;)

No he doesn't deserve my support. And my comment still stands. You know why people are so self entitled right now to the Dev Team's work when in the past they weren't? Because egohot has been the idiot releasing stuff before its has too. Releasing half baked stuff that barely worked (greyed out wi-fi and no fix) just to appease the masses and get donations. Where have you seen the Dev team releasing something half baked and then asking for donations? Never. To be quite honest, I'd rather have this way.

The Dev team is here to watch for us. Yet more and more users think all the work they do is supposed to be done on a timely fashion. Doesn't work that way.

As per him rotting in prison, yes, it is very possible. Sony has laid down some hard arguments egohot can't remotely respond to. The DMCA law he clings to doesn't protect him outside the iPhone. Furthermore, his debt scale right now is so high that if he doesn't go to jail, he'll be working to pay off debts for the rest of his life. Serves him right for being a self centered prick.

Yeap man. Either do I. I am on official carrier (my iPhone 4 is factory unlocked, anyway) and I am patient. I also don't update without a jb and I am grateful for everyone work. Have I said I'm not?

I just don't like they keep giving wrong info and creating false expectatives in everybody, we only have this thread because MN said HE HAD A FULLY WORKING UNLOCK.

You got my point? I don't care if it's any of the teams or individual work (i0n1c), it can take 5 years or 1 hour but if they say "I have it done, release 1 day after the official iOS release" I will wait for that. What if suddently they don't have anything more? Got it?

I hear you, it's all volunteer work and whenever they or someone else gets it done I'm cool. I won't sit here and cry and throw a fit like some. I don't think that will make a difference anyway besides making myself look like an idiot.

If something came up and they misjudged the unlock that fine. It's not like things don't come up in life.
They don't owe me or anyone anything.
I can look past that, not like it matters to them anyway:)

I agree 100% and those bashing those who've been waiting is just uncalled for. By the way, do you all bash your favorite musician when their album gets pushed back? Doubt it. Do you refuse to listen to their music? No. You have a right to make a statement and we're free to make our opinions. That's the beauty of all this. I'm just not going to feed into whatever they state. As I stated before, actions speak louder than words.
 
Someone above mentioned that s/he is a consumer and the unlock is what s/he is waiting for.

Consumer is generally thought of as someone purchasing (for money) an item or service. You are not a consumer of anything that any jailbreaker or unlocker puts out, unless you are paying for it. Oh, wait, you are not.

What makes me laugh is that, if you had gotten an unlock this week, and it hadn't been thoroughly tested, and it was released to "meet a deadline," you'd be the first one complaining. Be grateful that it was not released, or there would be ever so much more whining about "how could they do this to us," etc.

Why this thread keeps going is beyond me. An unlock will be released when it is ready. A jailbreak will be released when it is ready. Until then, ignore everything, because, if you can't keep your cool, you will just get riled up, post here, and be mocked. I'm waiting for a 4.3 JB. When it is released, I'll read the reports from early adopters and then decide if it is safe to use. I'm not whining now and I won't whine then.

Oh, and again, if you bought a phone from AT&T, it was locked to the carrier and you knew it was locked to the carrier. If you travel for business, get a cheap phone for when you do. If you are in the military, I think you have a real gripe with AT&T, the company actually driving this bus, not Apple. Oh, wait, and Verizon, too. But otherwise, you made your bed, lie (quietly, please) in it.

As soon as i opened the box i tryed it with my rogers micro sim card ( it said SIM not supported), then i jailbroke it using limera1n final.

Everything works fine with it but since the unlock is not out yet i never used it with a sim card ( tryed rogers and bell, both were not working).

I think i know to which carrier its locked to ( telus) but when i got into settings general and about, its written Carrier: Not available.

Hum, what's about my thread? It was my first touch with iPhone, I had zero knowledge about iPhone hack stuff. As everyone, I was a noob someday (I'm still, but always learning with an open mind).

Well mate, I am not crying or anything else. Only thing I am against is to you guys make MN look as a "God". Lately he hasn't release anything and haven't been useful for the hack scene, even though he wants to keep being in focus. I dislike his attitude, not his old tools or anything else. I don't own nothing to anyone, jailbreak made my life (or my iPhone?) easier, but I could live with the stock iOS.

People here are so rude, if you guys can't argue with other people, just get away from public forums. I have a different opinion, respect mine as I do yours.
 
OK, so you dislike MN's attitude and don't need his work. You've said you are fine with stock iOS. Then what are you hanging around here for?!
 
Why do people get so riled up over this? If you bought an iPhone knowing full-well that you wouldn't be able to use it without an unlock that was promised by someone on the internet that you've never met before then you either have enough expendable income that you can go buy something else to complain about or you're far too naive to be able to manage the amount of money it costs to own an iPhone.

Unless you've actually paid someone on the dev-team to make you an unlock, then you have absolutely no reason to be upset about the delayed release (or if it never happens for that matter). You look as ridiculous as the people who got all angry because Popeyes ran out of $5 fried chicken meals.

I am not making MuscleNerd a "god". He is not. However, I do not demand things given to me just because my hopes were brought up. I understand that the unlocking business they are in is tough. I completely understand. I never take their stuff for granted, I have great respect for their abilities. That said, I am in no position to demand as CZK demands. The work they put in and what they give us is free. How can you argue with free? If they stopped, oh well fun while it lasted. I was never paying them. I move on.

Also, I am always grateful this things take time, because that way potential bugs are ironed out. Just look at egohot. He never gets his stuff right and releases them half baked and bug ridden. That's worse than not releasing anything.

DevTeam has always used Twitter for their updates. Just the way it is. I guess if that bothers someone, they should find another hacker group to follow or start their own.

The latest exploit to unlock iPhone4's didn't work out. Who knew. These things are all trial and error. Doesn't mean they have stopped trying. I surely don't see any of those complaining doing anything to contribute to an unlock.

People are just completely ungrateful. I don't even use an unlocked phone and this thread pissed me off how people seem to feel a sense of entitlement for a software unlock thats free that took hundreds of hours by people working in their spare time to create. Unbelievable.

The only person who's ever done anything outside of at&t for me was geohot, thanks for limerain and I thank him for it and he's gotten money, fame, recognition, etc. Who are these other kids you all keep praising? Muscle Nerd? Oh god, stop. He said he was going to do this but didn't do anything. All bark, no bite. Again, actions speak louder than words. Just let it go and a mod should just close the thread, it's starting to get like the console wars of fanboys on here.

There's plenty of thoughtful and well-reasoned posts on both sides of the spectrum. I logged on today and was overwhelmed by how many responses my thread generated.

For the record, to the gentleman who suggested I cannot afford an AT&T contract, I'm actually paying for two plans I don't even use, as I am a US citizen but I live and work away from home.

I'm surprised though that we went over 6 pages with no one commenting on the pun in my thread title. ;)

Hopefully this thread is bumped soon to celebrate MuscleNerd and co. for saving the day, however long it might take to do.

We can argue just fine, thanks. And point out human frailty and foibles as well.

The people here suggesting that whining about a delayed unlock is, well, whining, didn't start this thread. No one has suggested the MN is "god." Far from it. Nor is George. Just guys having fun playing with phones. For free. And then releasing what they find. For free. When they want. For free. So why don't the demanders and their apologists just go off and find another sandbox? There's no need to start things up and then complain that people are being mean or rude. Mean or rude started this. The rest of us are a response to mean or rude.
 
Who do we blame? Apple for locking our devices. Or, people who spend their time trying to unlock it, and release it for free to everyone.
