Everything I have read says the current iteration of the Camaro has terrible rear quarter visability. It's a sharp looking car, but it is something to pay attention to if you buy. FYI, I have a Mustang.

Would not matter to me. If I owned either of the cars, most things would be far enough behind me and of no concern. LOL!

My choice is Camaro. But my real choice only has 2 wheels and would be in front of both these cars!

Why not a decent car, say an Audi or Mercedes Benz?
Because he can't afford them. Premium cars like MB or Audi costs way more than a typical American "car". How much is a Mustang? Probably cheaper than a entry level C-Class.
Don't forget BMW, they make great cars too, even though i am not a big fan of their design.

BTW, i love MB, i had 13 (9 AMGs)of them in the last 10 years (for me and my GF). :)
I even have the SL55 AMG (S.Jobs had a silver one). Mine is in champagne colour. :D

In other words, you completely agree, but have figured out how to live with the design flaw?

Pretty much. I haven't driven a Camaro daily to really get a grasp, but I know it doesn't have the best rear visibility.

But, people do learn to live with it and compensate for it.

Yes, because everyone buys a Mustang because they can't afford a Mercedes.

Premium cars like MB

Yes, because they're so well made. They're beaten by 19 other brands for reliability. Audi beats them by quite a bit.

how much is a Mustang?

Depends on which you want, they range from a little over 20,000 for the base model, to about 70,000 for the fully optioned out 600+ Horsepower 202 MPH Model. Some of the 3rd party track packs can go well over 100,000. Its not a luxury cars and makes no claim to be.

Probably cheaper than a entry level C-Class.

Who would waste their money on a C class? Its like buying a 3 series, waste of time and money.

I am not dissing MB, Ive owned them before. But so far I can't seem to find a model that gives me a good sports driving experience on the track and on the road.

Both boring

Which do you prefer? And why?
And if you had to chose between the V6 Camaro vs the V8 Mustang, would that change your mind?
(New 2012 models for both)

Ive been wanting to get a Camaro for a long time. No I can't afford the V8 Camaro. However, Ford has a $3k rebate for Mustang GTs, so Ive been thinking whether I should just get a V8 Mustang for basically the same price as I'll pay for the V6 Camaro.

It really boils down to style & sexiness of the Camaro vs the power & sound of the V8 in a boring mustang (yes they're boring, theres so many of them on the road).

Your opinions are much appreciated!

Get a motorcycle

Extremely safe in a crash and bad weather.

I have done over 500,000 km on two wheels in all weather from sub-zero temperatures and falling snow to 40ºC sunny days and tropical storms, in a dozen and a half countries, over nearly five decades..... and each km has been more fun and involving than any on four wheels (maybe 100,000 km in half a dozen countries since 1969)

By being more alert than any car driver to what is going on around me I have managed to avoid crashes since 1976, when a car sideswiped me after passing a another car.

"Sorry mate, it was my fault. I was going well above the speed limit and didn't see you," the driver said to me...... didn't offer to pay for the bent handle bars or anything though.

Lesson learnt for me..... be aware, and ride to the conditions.

Heck, car drivers in air-con comfort and power assisted this and that have little appreciation for much beyond their own little cocoon and the thrill of stamping down on the loud pedal..... not much finesse required..... in a word, boring.

Get a life..... get a bike.

Save for the Camaro V8. Don't settle for something you won't be happy with.

Get a life..... get a bike.
I was just in Bangkok and rented a motorcycle, nothing fancy or fast, but it is much different riding there than in the US..haha. Was not boring at all!!

Not really a fan of either, but I'd go with a Mustang. I don't really like GM products all too much.
I'll take an '86 though :)

Fixed it for you

Agreed.

I have a few bikes, and while they are great fun some fall days out, I would NEVER drive one every day. In a car or truck, I have several thousand pounds of metal, airbags, seatbelts, and an onstar or sync system in the newer cars that automatically calls for help.

In a bike you have a leather jacket and some skin.

I would love to see your bike get through a heavy New York winter with over a foot and a half of snow and ice on the road in some cases, even with 4WD my F350 starts to slide around and struggle a little bit. ( I would NEVER take my Vette out in the snow ), I had it in Fargo during a business trip once, and actually got stuck O_0

Thats good you've avoided, many bike riders are not so lucky.

Thats why I drive a 2012 Corvette, and 4 other 1960s Muscle cars, plenty exciment for me.

FOr me? WHile I have a few bikes they hardly get used.

In a crash?

Not hard to see who's gonna win a crash. And I am a very carefully driver, as I ride myself, I always look out for guys on bikes.

No, you didn't....

Among many others, I would be bored to death in a big "I am" poncey car...... that can be out performed by even a modestly specced motorcycle.

Yes, that can hold 4 people with the convertible top down, AC blasting, V8 roaring, still doing 150+mph if you you really want to. And can survive a crash with a coke can.

Agreed.

Wow, you must have a big one. I would be mortgaged beyond my means to even keep all that heavy metal on the road, let alone acquire them in the first place.

I thought that in New York you had a subway to use when there's snow around. No such luxury in the middle of an Exmoor winter when I had to go out to check the cattle grazing on Withypool Common. A motorcycle was ideal for the job, and the ride a buzz.

It's within my means and I enjoy classic cars and sports cars.

The truck is mostly there to be a daily driver to work, and I have a good bit of land and a couple projects going on, which means I have to move some pretty heavy materials around, and lots of it. And I also have a boat that I need to tow when I want to use it, a bike couldn't do that.

I don't live in NYC, theres more to New York than just NYC ( which I do love ). And sure a bike is great fun for me from time to time.

And I'm sure it was the right choice to ride out onto a lightly dusted road, I might do it myself.

But you probably wouldn't get far trying to get down or up your rather steep half mile long driveway with a foot and a half of snow on it covered in hard ice, then drive out onto roads that aren't so much better ( at least until late in the day when the salt trucks can catch up ). A Large 4WD truck is best for that, I've never gotten it stuck.

In Wisconsin I've had it in snow comming halfway up the doors, plowed right through it ;).

Bikes are good, but not he jack of all trades you seem to think they are.

What you have done here is asked a religious question....Mustang or Camaro.

Its the same as asking vi or emacs. Or Firefox vs. Chrome.

There is no right answer. Both cars have their pluses and minuses, and you will have to decide for yourself. I'm not even going to weigh in on that part.

The part that I will weigh in on is the part you should already know...the engine. If you want an economy car, then go buy an economy car. If you're going to buy the type of car you are planning to buy, at a minimum, get the V8.

When the time comes to sell, you want a car that is as desirable as possible to the new owner. I have seen it several times over.

The most blatant, 10+ years ago during my time in the military. A guy came back to the states from overseas duty. Proceeds to rack up a bunch of debt on a bunch of stupid things, among of which was a V6 power Camaro. He is stateside for barely a year and he gets orders to head back overseas.

As such, he is trying to sell off all his newly acquired possessions for nickels on the dollar. He can't figure out why no one wants to buy his low end, V6 powered Camaro. I don't know for certain how he ever got rid of that car, but even just watching from a distance was painful.

It takes some getting used to, I suppose, but I can echo this sentiment. Visibility is quite low...like driving a cave.
