GM, I went to my local Apple store, and checked out the 12. I have a 11 pro, and the 12 is definitely lighter. I could feel the difference right away. If it’s light enough or narrow enough for you, don’t know. The S10 plus I have is wider than the 12.

Thanks. I don’t have an 11Pro to compare it too. I have an SE2020.

The 12Pro is top heavy when I rest it on my pinky shelf.

With my SE2020 my fingers are able to rest on the back of the phone vs the 12P my fingers only go up 3/4 of the way so there’s too heaviness.

I agree. I think the mini is gonna be one of the hottest sellers they’ve had in a while.

I think I found out the issue with me.

My SE2020 in a Magpul case is the same size as my 12P in a Pitaka case.

You would think since both are same size what’s the problem.

It’s the screen. Even though both are same size in form with the 12P with 1 hand I have to fiddle and / or stretch too much to get my thumb to the top of the screen and fiddle and / stretch too much to get to opposite corner of top of screen.

Where web start about 1/4 from top of phone that’s where I can put my thumbs comfortably. I can’t go past.

See the line underneath cancel Reply Topic Reply, I can get my thumb up to that line under Reply and Reply Topic without any fiddling around and stretching 1 handed.

I was referring to the regular 12. I imagine the 12P would be heavier. I noticed on oled phones including Samsung's, that they are made narrower. Don't know why.

Thumbs up for @ssledoux's post. I am second to all of that.
Today went to BB and tried 12 and 12 pro. Luckily they were sitting between inch together and had a no weight anti-theft cable attached. Long story short i had a great time (30 min) of using my SE2, ip12 and ip12 pro.
Summary:
1) Iphone 12 feels much nicer in hand and the weight is almost identical to the SE2.
2) Iphone SE2 in the apple leather case is 1:1 identical in width to the Iphone 12 without the case.
3) Iphone 12 XDR display is amazing. I have airdropped photos from Iphone 12 to my SE2 and compared side-by-side.
Verdict: Iphone 12 had much more accurate and live/vivid colors, overall difference was as day and night. Then i have compared 12 to 12 pro screen, and noticed that 12 pro has a little bit better display/colors. I would say 5-10% better. But it is really hard to distinguish.
4) Iphone 12 pro was really heavy and brought back forgotten memories why i didn't buy 11/11 pro.
5) Sides of the iphone 12 looked much better than shiny side of 12 pro.
6) So i put my se2+apple leather case on top of iphone 12, and 12 was only half inch taller and that is it. All the difference is half inch taller. But the screen size increase is really appreciable.
7) Camera: I can see that iphone 12 had more complex/new lens, so the photos looked better on 12/12 pro rather than my SE2. BUT the difference was something really pixel pipping. I would say that 12/12 pro main cameras are better by 20-30% in average scenario. I took a photo of far away objects/texts, and iphone 12/pro was having 10% better clarity of the small text when zooming, but still both are readable, and when SE2 photo is not readable, then 12/pro is also unreadable. Of course i am not talking here about all that night super duper shot modes, telecamera and extra wide lens. I am talking about the main, original lens and usual point and shoot scenario in BB.
8) PWM. It was noticeable when i looked through camera, it was big until 70% of brightness, but overall it didn't feel like a problem. I used oled displays earlier in samsung galaxy s3, that also should have got terrible PWM, but i didn't notice.
9) Overall i liked Iphone 12 much more than pro. But with the only caveat - only if used without the case. If case attached, this thing will be too wide for my taste.
I am returning my Pro for the 12 for the reasons you’ve stated. I’ll wait til the pro is lighter in a later model and the pandemic has ended. Then it will be practical for me to use a pro model again.

Note: I’ve had the X/XS/11 Pro prior to the 12/12 Pro. The Pro is not worth it unless you want the Max. The 12 is the ultimate consumer phone for 2020.

Talk about over thinking it, do you only have one hand? Even the Se and the mini won’t be able to be used one hand all the time.

I’m pleased with how the 12 handles as I was fearing it to be too bulky and heavy. I was pleasantly surprised to feel how light it is by comparison to my previous phone.

My return to iOS has been positive with apps for sure.

I for one enjoy reading your posts @ssledoux

Surely you would of known the 12 pro wouldn’t be

I thought it would be borderline 1 handed but it isn’t even that. There are some instances where I can use 1 handed but 80% of the time I find I have to use 2 handed. 50/50 I could live with. Plus it’s significantly heavier for me than the SE020.

From my perspective going from 11 Pro Max to 12 Pro - this phone is a joy to use with one hand. Heh. :). I see your point tho - sometimes I have to slide the phone down a little to get something on the top left (I’m right handed).

Just wanted to update and say that I’ve officially started to really enjoy and appreciate the 12. I think the Loopy case, when it finally arrives, is gonna seal the deal. My makeshift loopy isn’t bad, but it’s not the same.

The screen is so responsive, I barely even have to touch my thumb to it to swipe, and I’m definitely enjoying having a bigger display. I’m getting used to the swiping gestures again, and I can ALMOST get my apps to pop up so I can close them on the first try. ;-p

I’m loving the camera. I didn’t think the pictures looked that different until I blew them up on the SE/12. They definitely stay sharper when zooming them in on the 12, which is nice if I need to crop or want to print.

I have missed my Touch ID a little, especially the last couple days when I was out running errands, but that’s not really the norm for me, so it’s doable.

All in all I think I’m gonna be really glad I stuck with it. :)

I'm glad you're getting settled in to your new phone. One thing that I've found that helps with my 11 Pro, is to use back tap and set the two tap to reachability. This allows me to gently tap twice on the back of the phone and the screen goes down so I can reach the top of what is displayed one handed. I can do the two tap one handed as well. Has made a big difference for me.

Not sure if this will help, but having followed your journey online with this new phone, maybe it will help with the gestures etc.

Go to settings/accessibility/touch/back tap and you can set it up and give it a try.

Never knew that was even an option. I don’t really pay attention to those details. ;-p

I usually have a case on, well actually always, so IDK if that’ll be an option for me.
