You mentioned earlier in the thread you have changing needs for a phone etc. What are your specific needs? Surely there can't be that many that it's taken months to decide? I thought I was bad with being indecisive but you seem very much the same. This isn't an "attack", it's just an observation.

This is how bad I am...

- Usually want the latest phone because it has the latest tech and will be future proof
- Then realise it'll only be the latest phone until next September and I'll want to upgrade again
- Then I'll think "it's only a phone, it can get damaged/lost/stolen and there are more important things in life that spending lots of money on on one" so I'll look for the cheapest 'latest looking' model e.g. an X or XR.
- Then I'll miss the pocketable size/one handed use so think about the 12 Mini or going back to a smaller iPhone.
- Then I'll miss the physical home button and TouchID, so I'll look for the cheapest TouchID phone that runs the latest iOS (e.g. 6S or SE1)
- Then I'll want something newer that's "future proof" so I go back to thinking the SE2 is a good option
- Then I miss the swipe gestures and ease of FaceID so think about going back to an 11 Pro/12 Pro or get the 12 Mini.

I've had maybe 8 different phones this year.

I'm trying to get out of the mentality of thinking phones are important, because they aren't. We spend too much time with/on them and we shouldn't.

Right now I'm in the frame of mind of going back to the SE2 - it'll be future proof for at least a couple more iOS versions, is quick, cheap (ish), and pocketable/one handed. Only downside is battery life.

*sigh*.

Well I’ve gotten to where I want lighter weight because I use it a lot in bed, and it gets tiring holding the heavier phones up to read.

I struggle with typing on the small screens though, so that has been a frustration.

I used to want the new phone every year, but really only because I love tech in general - not because I need to have the latest and greatest.

It hasn’t really taken me months to decide. I had a month or so where I was struggling to choose between the SE2, 11 pro, or keeping an 11. I chose to keep the SE2, and see what 12s would offer.

So here I am trying the 12, deciding if I want to keep it or stick with the SE2.

Sounds fair, I hadn't read the entirety of your other thread so assumed it was some huge saga or something but that sounds pretty reasonable.

Totally get the weight issue. The SE2 isn't super-light but with the size/form factor is much more manageable than the larger phones.

Hope you settle on a decision soon. I'm in a similar position now (12 mini versus SE2) and leaning towards the SE2 for another year and seeing what comes next Sept/Oct.

I’m not planning on trying the mini. Maybe I should, but I just don’t think I need to throw another phone in the mix.

Typing/texting on the 12 is much better than the SE, and I assume it would be much better than the mini as well. The display on the 12 is great, and the camera on the 12 is great.

The SE has size/comfort going for it (as I mentioned, I really prefer the rounded edges), and of course the easy one-handed use.

I actually prefer Touch ID on the phone, but I am getting used to the Face ID and swiping gestures again, and I know that’ll wind up being a wash once it becomes the norm.

So that’s what I’m weighing, and I’m making a decision by tomorrow. ;-p

Yea size/comfort and ez 1 handed use is important to me. When I’m having my cereal in the morning I’d like to be able to play with my at the same time.

However the battery life of the SE for my use stinks. Since I’ve been using the 12P the battery life is FANTASTIC vs the SE.

I don’t want another phone that will provide battery life similar to the SE2020. I know the mini won’t provide same battery life as the 12P for obvious reasons but if the mini can provide around 30% better battery than the SE2020 then it would be a definite consideration.

I would have to handle the mini first. Still can’t my head around that the mini is a smaller device than the SE2020 yet with larger screen real estate. It might be the mini will be too small maybe.

how was the battery life of the se? and how is your experience with the battery life of the 12p?

SE2020 had to charge it about 2x sometimes 3x in an 8 hour work day. The 12P so far haven’t had to charge it in an 8 hour work day.

Thanks - how thoughtful of you to take the time to do that. 🙄

I’ve been on this forum since 2006. Why don’t you go ahead and share every thread I’ve ever posted with a question? Or everyone else’s they’ve ever posted for that matter?

There were legit reasons for my questions, and I really appreciated people’s input. Last I heard, this was a discussion forum.

Don’t let them bother you. This is fun to read. Please continue. I enjoy it. I downsized from the 11 Pro Max to the 12 Pro this year. A lot of what you wrote is interestingly similar to my own thought processes over the last few weeks. Lol

Disregard the peanut gallery, like you said this is a discussion forum, we're all here to talk about our iPhones and/or what have you. I don't get the negativity some bring here. I just don't get it. FYI- I like your posts, I think similarly myself with regards to some of what you've posted.

Just wanted to update, for those that are interested.

I’m keeping the 12.

I’ve been sitting here texting

myself back and forth using my SE2 (which my granddaughter has already confiscated), and my 12. Silly I know, but really my only gripe with my SE2 was texting because of the small keyboard. Being able to go back and forth between the two made me realize just how much roomier and easier to use the 12 keyboard is.

Since the main things I do with a phone are texting and taking pics (and reading social media sometimes, but no real noticeable difference there), it just makes sense for me to have the phone that is easier to text on, and has more camera options.

Pretty sure I’ll enjoy it even more when my official Loopy case arrives (instead of my makeshift Loopy I’m making do with til then). It really is a great phone.

It all comes down to what you need in a phone and what works best for you. I LOVE the screen and battery life of my 11 Pro Max, BUT and it's a big BUT, it is a heavy phone. There are times (like almost every waking moment) when I think about how great it'd be to have a more pocket friendly, lighter phone but I'd never be able to type comfortably on a smaller screen. Plus I like the added camera the Pro versions have, so there's that too. I know the cons outweigh (pun intended) the pros of the Pro Max (wow again with the puns, I'm on a roll) at least for me anyway. So I suck it up, at least for now anyway.

Yeah like there’s that part of me that longs for the days when there was only the one, although I do realize it’s great for everyone to be able to get what works best for them.

Right now I’m leaning towards keeping the 12. It’s what I wanted as far as getting more screen without much more weight. I’ll learn to live with the flat edges again, and having to use 2 hands sometimes.

I’ve been playing with the camera a good bit and trying to see if I’m really getting better pics too though, because that’s a big perk for keeping the 12, and if it’s not really gonna be much difference for my usage, that could sway my decision.

I’d say keep the 12. Enjoy the extra screen. The notch isn’t all bad and the camera is amazing! I understand why people like Touch ID but the screen you lose for it is crazy. I see it has its uses these days of course.

I’ve been mega impressed with this phone and its a breath of fresh air to me. Personally it’s sits nicely between devices in terms of price function and weight. I’m super pleased

Yay!

Was going to say. Where’s the loopy!! This will make a big difference to you I’m sure.

You are making the right decision in terms of size etc.

Yeah sorry, no worries have deleted them.

I’m coming from an 11 Pro. Originally ordered a 12 Pro but may go with a 12 due to the weight. How does the size of the 12 compare to the 11 Pro? Very similar?
Here are the weight and size comparisons.

I’ve definitely been there, done that with big, heavy phones. I haven’t had a max only because when I got the XS Max, the OLED bothered my eyes/head, and I didn’t keep it. With the 11s, I was just afraid to try OLED again. This year I figured I might as well since it’s likely gonna be on just about all the phones going forward. I have learned more about the various settings, and I will say the phone isn’t bothering me like it did before.

I actually had my hands on my sister’s 11 pro this morning too because she was over here. I love the size, but it just really reinforced that the weight is an important factor for me.

How much lighter is the 12 vs the 12P. I think if I can cut down in weight it might help.

Of course, now that I’ve made up my mind, I clicked talk to text on my phone and got this weird, static ding that dinged like 4 times. Then I went to play music to make sure it wasn’t a speaker issue, and I clicked to play a song and it just didn’t play. Then it randomly started playing another song in my playlist, and started skipping like it was a record, and I couldn’t stop it - I had to shut down my phone.

I had forgotten that it did this over the weekend. Since I was considering returning it, I never really thought about it. But then it happened just now and reminded me.

WTH?

Me too... feels like the best of both worlds...

Size. My main, maybe only, issue with the SE was my struggle to type/text because of the small keyboard, even zoomed. I can’t imagine the mini will be better. Otherwise, I think I’d be all over it. I’m so over these bigger phones.

I know moments like that: It's like 'Seriously? I just made a decision, and now this?!' Totally empathize.
