Let's be honest... if people had a fixed 24 Apr date, we would have heard it on this forum.
Agreed. Whereas there may be special cases that are not in the general population like the rest of us, I was scanning the inventory at time zero plus 30 seconds and I did not see one April 24 (hard stop) delivery date. My model was one of the last to go to 4-6 weeks and even though I got it at time zero, I have a date range. As then, I'd be interested to hear if anyone got an Apr 24 delivery date.

Just looked back on my emails, last Apple product I pre-ordered was iPad air and the email says 'Delivery: 05 Nov, 2013 - 07 Nov, 2013 by Standard Shipping'
Well yeah, but that's two days, not two weeks. The former could be due to a shipping company issue. The latter, our current situation, is they just aren't shipped.

well the rMB launch has not gone as planned either. I do not think anyone thought available 4/10 really meant available to preorder basically.

That launch makes me doubt this launch.

The new Mac Pro launch seemed a bit all over the place as well... the "release" date was basically pre-order date.

Honestly I am lol

LOL. Obviously I'm not an idiot and I'm playing Devil's Advocate.

I'm just saying just because none of us forum peeps did, doesn't mean nobody did.

TBH I don't think anyone got a definitive 24th April delivery date as opposed to the first "range" of dates. I think some people will get their watch on the 24th.

Oh I'm sure many people will get it on the 24th and I hope mine arrives sooner since I'm gonna have to ask my friend to ship it to me since I missed the launch date.

My confirmation was timed 55 seconds after launch. Admittedly I could have been quicker -- I forgot to agree to the term and conditions and I clicked on the "get it faster" link that turned out to be a scam.

But still. I was pretty quick. And I've got the same window as everyone else.

As long as one person gets one watch on the 24th, it's a launch ;)

I'll have to check the exact wording in the videos ... was it available from the 24th, or on the 24th

Yes I'm stirring ... mainly because I dicked about making my mind up that when I finally went with SS and black sport band I got a may delivery period.

My "24/4 - 8/5" confirmation email arrived at 8:09 and if I remember rightly the :apple: store didn't go live until 8:02? I really hope it arrives on the 24th but I'm almost certain it will be towards the latter half of the 8/5 target date.

During the keynote, Tim Cook simply said "Available 24th".

Like many, I would take this to mean that at least some of the general public would be able to have one in hand this day but it will be interesting to see if Apple try and talk their way around their statements. :)

My guess is that Apple has X number of Watches and X number of Bands, but they are not put together into a retail package yet.. So Once the orders came in, they now need Foxconn or Whomever to take the watches, Match them with the ordered Band and Package it and then ship it... Thats why I think there is a window.

During the pre-pre-order, the Apple Store said "delivers 24/4".

It didn't say "delivers some unspecified time between 24/4 and who-the-hell-knows-when".

If it had, maybe some of us wouldn't be quite so pissed.

I expect that some people will get theirs on the 24th. I do think that some will get their watches on the 24th. We just have no ideas which models were truly the most popular. For example, the Pink 38mm was one of the least popular models in MacRumors polls, but mine went from 4/24 to 5/8 estimate when I put it in my cart and 5/13 to 5/27 by the time my confirmation email arrived at 2:06 CDT. However, the green 38mm stayed at 4/24 to 5/8 for quite some time, at least an hour. We will know a lot more next weekend, as some people's orders will start going "prepared for shipping".

This is definitely a situation without a lot of precedent when it comes to Apple, so there's a lot of speculation going on. I strongly doubt that no one will get their Watch on 4/24, but it might not be the majority, and if Apple spreads deliveries out throughout the dates supplied, I would not be totally surprised. Those of us with dates in mid-May, then, might not see a lot of changes in our estimates.

It's a guessing game until late this week/early next, when shipping emails start to go out and the dates start solidifying. The amount of garment rending and gnashing of teeth in this forum if folks with 4/24-5/8 windows start getting solid dates at the latter end of that estimate will be of Biblical proportions, to be sure. ;)

As for me, I'm just assuming that I won't be getting my Watch until the end of May. Anything else just sets me up for dashed expectations.

I don't think Apple ever gave a fixed date for online pre-orders.

I pre-ordered both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 online and they both had a date range, both received on launch day.

here is the shipping notice for my iPhone 6 :

Shipped: Delivers 19 Sep, 2014 - 23 Sep, 2014 via Standard Shipping

The Apple Store app orders went live at about 08:01:20 for me. I managed to get my Sport ordered immediately and the time stamp of the confirmation came was 08:01. I'm pretty sure that puts me amongst the first to get my order through yet I'm also in the 24/4-8/5 bracket.

Look at the past few years of Apple product launches. Huge media coverage!

Because the press could just stand outside any Apple Store with a huge queue and know 5 minutes after opening that someone got a device.

That's not the case this time round.

They've had 6 months to ramp up production. I am sure they have quite a stock pile.
Dont forget, this will be huge for their stock price. If they want to hit 1T this year, this is how they will get there. And that only works if they get millions onto wrists ASAP

It's naive to think that the media isn't aware of the 24th launch day. There's been significant hype about the Apple Watch just because it's Apple! So I'm going to be highly surprised if the majority of the watches marked 4/24-5/8 don't go out that Friday.

Ridiculous. Of course there will be. The ranged dates just make it so if you don't get it on launch you won't got bat sh$@ crazy.

Gotta remember it's a watch and a band they need to ship with so many different variations it's probably harder to keep a super accurate track of inventory going out than just a single phone or two with the iphone 6's
