They probably meant walkins, but reserve and pickup will be available online. Also they don't know more than we do.

and also I am almost positive that when they are processing the pre-order it always gives the estimated window which ranges at least 2-3 days and sometimes longer and then once the item is either preparing for shipping or has shipped you get the exact date which is where I believe people are getting confused. I have preordered and ordered multiple items form apple including the iPhone 6 plus and received it on launch day but initially had a window and the iPad air 2 which also gave me a window until it was actually shipped.

Wow. The watch that no one was even sure was actually real just 7 months ago, and that everyone has managed to live without for their e n t i r e lives, and that absolutely not a soul on the planet actually needs, *might* deliver a few months late. The amount of analysis and drama about ship dates is totally unwarranted.

If Apple had promised an earlier date, and rushed delivery, and there were quality control or software issues, I can guarantee that everyone currently crying about waiting a month, would be crying "Why did Apple release this junk so soon?"

As I recall Apple always gives shipping windows with online orders, because they can't guarantee that the shipping company will be able to deliver to every single person everywhere on the same day.

Well, having worked in the freight/parcel/logistics industry for 15+ years you are correct.

How you do it, and how we did it at the distribution center I ran, is you stagger the days products are shipped to try and get all the deliveries on the same day.

You can also have the carrier hold packages to meet a release date and not authorize an early delivery.

There's a number of ways to do it.

I have a feeling, with a new product category, all the press they've gotten, Tim's first time heading up a brnad new product category, Angela's first rodeo with Apple, Ive/Newsome running wild on design, they are going to want as many in customers hands on the 24th.

LMAO I love that.

Apple has already started updating delivery dates to the 24th April.

I don't want to post the picture as it's not mine but check out @Applwatcher on Twitter

None of the status' on my orders have changed, granted my 3AM pre-order was apparently 1 minute late and I have a May 13-24 delivery date.

Here's a link with a screencap of a user who is claiming to have had their date updated.

EDIT: In their screencap, the status has been updated to "Processing", which this early likely means that it's being shipped directly from China.

EDIT 2: Whoops, I was thinking "Preparing for Shipping" vice "Processing"; that theirs still is in Processing but they got an updated delivery date is interesting.

I ordered through the App Store on my iPhone at 8:01.

Super fast fingers, signing in, entering my CVV, I get the email confirmation at 8:01.

If I don't get it on the 24th, no-one will

Mine says the same delivery range that everyone is getting at the moment, and guess it will stay like that until "preparing for shipment".

I'm suspicious because he "highlighted" that line in the order in white. Clearly other parts of the image have been modified to remove personal details so it would be trivial to add a line of text while you're in there editing. Using white makes matching the color of the background unnecessary.

I'm pretty sure that's been altered.

In light of the fact Apple have now removed the "Available April 24th" line from their website, I believe more than ever that no member of the general public will have a watch in hand on this date. :(

Shipping will probably commence around this timeframe with the first actual deliveries occurring early May.

Again, this is just my feeling and I hope I'm wrong!

They still have 24th on all their watch faces. Some people will without a doubt get it on the 24th. How many is yet to be seen with their large 2 week cushions.

He did post an updated photo on Twitter without the white box. It's well done if it's fake.

He ordered on april 11th and got early range than a lot of people here  ?? first one I've seen with a 2-4 weeks range, after 24th delivery it went straight to 4-6 weeks as far as i know.

Yeah the more I thought about it it's suspect at best. It's easy to modify the HTML on the page and make it say whatever you want. I tried it to confirm.

This is a dead thread now. It was just confirmed that some people that pre-ordered would start getting deliveries on launch day! Check Angela's memo!

Yes, hallelujah, people with a 4/24 date can cease worrying about not getting their watch on launch date!
