I'll ask again. Those who are getting the push, have you done the update to get the calendar and contacts pushed?

No...because it requires you to use your exchange account and you only get one.

I use Google contacts in iTunes Sync and Outlook for my calender and Google Calender syncs to my outlook

What settings do the people have on that are getting their mail pushed?

I have "Push: ON" and "Fetch" set to Manually. Should I have this set to anything differen't?

Correct... I forgot about that... copy that! Just trying to put together the peices in the puzzle... :)

Totally agree...wish apple would just add Google Calender, Google Bookmarks right to iTunes like contacts....check the box and BAM...sync done

LOL...they can keep wanting...they offered it to me for free for a year and I turned it down.

I am not going to pay for something that Google provides for free.

i totally agree, im just saying apple knows that if they make it easier to use a free alternative mobile me will tank even harder.

Just got a member confirmation email pushed to my phone. It arrived less than a minute after I signed up. It even arrived before my desktop email got it. Not sure if it happened to be at the fetch interval though.

I get within a couple seconds of osx mail when on wifi. when not on wifi it's still the same for me though

This definitely does not work for me. I often question if fetch is working properly for me in regards to Gmail...

Just to make certain, this is happening while the phone is sleeping?

Does everyone have the settings another member previously posted:

Push: off
Fetch: 1 hour (if this even matters)

Thanks!

hmm...

I just sent myself another email as a test and, indeed, I received the mail in a few minutes rather than the hour it is set to fetch at...

I don't think it is actually push, as others have already pointed out. Within the course of the few minutes I waited, a few emails were sent to me in addition to the one I sent myself and I received them all in at the same time with the same notification. Push would act differently right?

Best,

Yeah, push should forward the emails as soon as the server receives them (in other words, one by one instead of receiving several at a time like you did). However, it may be a coincidence and people just happened to send emails at the same time? :p

I just wanted to confirm that my Gmail accounts along with my 1 Yahoo! account (used for push Beejive) are all pushing since i updated to the 3.0 beta (legally, father is a registered developer, so my UUID is registered as well).

Can anyone else also confirm that there email is pushing as well on 3.0? Thanks!

I know my dad's iPhone is also pushing his Gmail accounts along with his Me account too.

THIS IS GREAT! confirmed! Actually getting gmail on two accoutns before the fetch time and before i get them on my mac! rock on!

I expect to see Google expand their ActiveSync support to email soon, but since I already have a hosted Exchange mailbox on my personal domain I'd welcome this for my Gmail account.

This is very inconsistent. I think it may depend if you're connected via wi-fi or not? Sometimes Gmail pushes and other times it doesn't.

Something is up. There is no way this works 100% of the time. But when it does, it's pretty nice to see...

so i'm sitting here trying it out. on edge, mail open. sent a test email from my work email to my gmail. as it stands right now my gmail on the web hasnt got the email, nor has my phone.

i'm on a non3g phone. i have 2.2.1. gmail web still hasnt received the email, nor has my phone. gonna refresh gmail web and see what happens.

gmail web has it, and nothing has happened on the open mail on my phone. i changed the settings to have the screen stay live. when i pushed the button on the top right, and then brought the phone back to life, it automatically checked for new mail.

i'd agree with the person that it's a pseudo push. real live push in 3.0 would be stellar and i could kill .me.

Damn you people, you made me mess up my settings somehow.

For the record, push (or any push-like behaviour) was not working for me on either 3.0 Beta2 or pre-3.0 Beta2.

I got so hyped up, that I deleted my Gmail account, and proceeded to set it up as mentioned on the gmail instruction page linked here earlier in the thread.

Now I can't receive any emails on my gmail account. The inbox is empty, and the internet activity sign spins for ages and finally disappears. But still not a single email in the inbox.

All my accounts are IMAP, and I have Fetch set to Manually.

I noticed if I turn on Push, then none of the accounts can download emails, until I turn off Push.

Gmail however still cannot download emails.

Why did I read this cruel thread!? :(
