It was still processing, but yes, now is cancelled, and got this e-mail:
Dear Apple Store Customer,
Thank you for your recent iPhone purchase at the Apple Online Store.
We are unable to process your iPhone order because AT&T records indicate
multiple orders for the same wireless phone number. Each AT&T phone
number is eligible for only one iPhone at the quoted price.
Your iPhone order has been cancelled, and you have not been charged.
If your AT&T account is in good standing and you're receiving this
message in error, please place a new iPhone order and reply to this
email with your order information. If you place a new order in the next
48 hours, we'll work hard to meet the original order's delivery date
date. Please check your email for any additional changes.
Sincerely,
Apple Online Store Team
Good if true. The less hands/machines that touch my package before it gets here the better.
16GB Black with Verizon. Ordered off Apple.com at 5:30am eastern Friday morning. I live in South Carolina.

Orders from Apple.com, are they signature required? I've gotten mixed answers between yes and no.

Ordered 2 iPhones-- one for each of the lines in my family plan and I just got the same e-mail for my wife's phone. We preordered as soon as the store opened and just got that e-mail today. I reordered with no issue and e-mailed them. I called and talked with a couple of people at Apple who said there's no way they can honor the original date-- all they could do was throw in an accessory. The delivery date is now 10/24-10/31. Really disappointingThey could have at least tried to work out the issue before canceling the order I woke up at 3am to place.
Check your page again. It says 4 days till delivery i.e. FRIDAY.Ditto -- mine just arrived in Anchorage, AK
Unless Apple gave specific instructions to UPS not to deliver these until the 14th, we should probably see them on the 12th.

For those of us who are still seeing a " preparing to be shipped" status, our iPhones may just be already in the US.. As in initially stocked by apple in the states. Obviously they won't send them out now most likely tomorrow or Wednesday but I'm sure the reason ours isn't being able to be tracked down is cause it's not coming from china or Japan's or somewhere outside the country. It's probably at one of the many dist. Centers that apple has and just waiting for the right moment.
