My iPhone 4S has shipped!!

AT&T here and ordered from apple.com and have a tracking number. Although mine says the 14th as does the UPS rep. Not sure how others contacted reps and got the 12th has a date. Good luck
 
Looks like other people also got told that their package is scheduled to arrive the 12th.

What's the likelihood of that? Will they just hold it at a facility until the 14th, or will it actually might be delivered then?

Shoot opinions!

I haven't seen anyone post about this but my iPhone 4S has made it to the US....Kinda....Alaska! :)

Also from FL, though I was unable to order right away (was hitting F5 on the Apple Store page from 2:45 am EDT until it finally opened an hour later or whenever). After several failed attempts there and through the Apple Store app, I went back to bed. Ordered at about 7:30 through the app and got the confirmation email at 8:04, but I've been stuck in "preparing for shipment" for more than a day.
 
Arrived in Alaska

My iphone has just arrived in Anchorage....leaving for Ontario, CA in a few hours... :)

What I want to know is how people had the UPS reps tell them the actual date is the 12th. Mine kept insisting it was the 14th. Ugh I'm so darn anxious.
 
Ditto -- mine just arrived in Anchorage, AK :D

Unless Apple gave specific instructions to UPS not to deliver these until the 14th, we should probably see them on the 12th.

My wife's White 16GB is sitting in Anchorage on the same flight.

My White 64GB, which I ordered about 2 hours before she did (and within 3 minutes of the link going live on apple.com) is still listed as "Preparing for Shipment."

Ordered 2 iPhones-- one for each of the lines in my family plan and I just got the same e-mail for my wife's phone. We preordered as soon as the store opened and just got that e-mail today. I reordered with no issue and e-mailed them. I called and talked with a couple of people at Apple who said there's no way they can honor the original date-- all they could do was throw in an accessory. The delivery date is now 10/24-10/31. Really disappointing :( They could have at least tried to work out the issue before canceling the order I woke up at 3am to place.

For those of us who are still seeing a " preparing to be shipped" status, our iPhones may just be already in the US.. As in initially stocked by apple in the states. Obviously they won't send them out now most likely tomorrow or Wednesday but I'm sure the reason ours isn't being able to be tracked down is cause it's not coming from china or Japan's or somewhere outside the country. It's probably at one of the many dist. Centers that apple has and just waiting for the right moment.
 
Orders from Apple.com, are they signature required? I've gotten mixed answers between yes and no.

Yes BUT they give you the option to Pre sign for the shipment ( its a form you print out,sign and leave on your door). You"ll recieve that option when Apple emails you that your phone has shipped:apple:

What was your order status before this happened? Was it still at "processing" I am assuming? It'd be pretty BS if you were at "preparing for shipping" and then they cancel the order then.

I agree with you because my 2 friends ordered late friday morning around 11-ish and they already received a conformation ship from apple i ordered at 530 am and the only reason was because of the whole system crash, I'm just hoping we are from the first batch that is in the apple US warehouses. BTW the whole ups tracking thing did not work for me.

I was thinking about this too. Are the people who have been tracking their phones today and yesterday mainly on the west coast or in the western half of the country? Maybe west coasters' phones are coming from china and east coaster's from distribution spots from within the US?
