Hmmm, weird, mine is in Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong as of 10/10/2011 4PM local time. Did people just skip mentioning this step before they left China and got airborne? (btw, White 64Gig ordered from Apple.com about 45 min after orders went live...)
Anyway, another interesting thing to note is that UPS World Wide Express (what it seems most ordered from Apple.com on release night are shipping with) is
Now I figure they changed it to "End of Day" because of the huge volume of phones being sent HOWEVER, if you're in an area that didn't get hit huge with orders I'm guessing there's a good chance your phone will get to you before 10:30 or noon since the supply chain is already setup for those kind of deliveries....

Mine now shows shipped. It is coming by UPS. I got the email from Apple at 0205 PDT.

I ordered from apple.com on 10/7/11 around 4 am pst.
Now on the order status page, it says 'preparing for shipment', but I was able to go on ups.com and found the shipping info.
It's in transit (as of 10/10/11 3 am pst) with 4 days left and is scheduled to be delivered on 10/14/11 by end of day.

Our tracking detail looks to be almost the same...just off 1 minute or 2. I wonder if we are on the same flight! haha
Did all the phones ship from China last year? I seem to remember some discussion of phones shipping from Texas, as if Apple had delivered a large quantity of phones to ATT to ship on their own.
I may be remembering that wrong however. If true, we wouldn't see ATT phones ship for another day or two.
Looking back at my ATT shipping info from last year, it shipped over night. Granted this was about 3 weeks post release.

OOps I just remembered my son also ordered iphone 4s from apple and he used MY same cell number for account number and we only for now show one box ed shipped so we have no idea which phone has shipped from china

I ordered mine via Apple's phone number Friday around 7pm EDT. Didn't have to deal with any pesky website downtime. Anyway, mine is scheduled for delivery on the 14th via UPS and is currently in Chek Lap Kok in Hong Kong.
