Ordered around 7AM Pacific.
Apple.com says "preparing for shipment"

UPS and Fedex can't find anything.

I should just leave this site until I get it in because all I'm doing is reading threads like this. :)

I called UPS this morning, and was told that my iPhone 4S (Shipped by SPRINT) would be delivered on Wednesday, the 12th. I asked if there was a hold on it until the 14th and was told no! :D Anyone think this may reallyyyy happen???

This is why I NEVER order an iPhone from Apple

They are terrific, the very best online store for ordering Macs and other items, but when it comes to iPhones, no one is as fast as AT&T.

I ordered one for my wife and I already have a confirmed FedEx delivery time for Friday before 10am.

I would not be surprised if it arrived early, on Thursday of this week since that's what happened last year they were early by one day prior to release day.

My friends that decided to get theirs at the Apple store were pissed to see I already had my iPhone 4 and didn't have to stand in line.

FedEx is so far superior to UPS, plus I get it before 10 am instead of having to wait all day.

In order for you to have it guaranteed by 10am it would have to be sent with priority overnight delivery, which I'm positive AT&T won't do.

So either you're lying, or you're lying. Which is it?

UPS and FedEx aren't showing my order. Apple.com shows "Preparing for Shipment" as the status and "Delivers Oct 14th" for the delivery date. I ordered the phone at 3:45AM Eastern on Friday and it's a White 32GB on AT&T.

I am in the exact same situation.. I order time was even the same!

Im hoping for FedEx delivery again.. I got my last iPhone a day early, that and FedEx shows up at 7-8 am in my neighborhood!

I'm sure it will change to shipped soon..

In the past, there is usually a hold on the part of the delivery service as a request from Apple. With that said, if your order is shipping from Sprint, there might not be that request. Also, in the past, there have been early deliveries, so Wednesday is definitely a possibility!

Bunch of geeks trying to find info on something that won't be there for days

Just a shot in the dark here, but did any of the people who ordered from Apple on Friday that are not able to track also purchase AppleCare? My phone has been "preparing" since Saturday, but AC is still processing. Both say 14th delivery.

I guess it depends where you are. UPS is superior where I am. Fedex actually shutdown all its kinko's/delivery stores because they weren't generating enough business. Come to think of it I rarely see a FedEx truck anymore. I'm located in central jersey/shore area.
Yes, I agree with your point. I'm in a large city with all delivery services.

I placed my order when they opened the site for orders. Within 10 minutes I had completed the order, and received the confirmation email.

The next morning AT&T emailed an estimated ship time. Then the following day they sent an email with a confirmed arrival date.

This morning I tracked it and we are right on schedule.

It turns out that the shipping reference is for the 16GB white AT&T even though that it was for the other number. I wonder how that happened.

Anyhow, the reason I know this is I got one shipment confirmation from Apple.com. Still waiting for shipment confirmation on 32GB Black AT&T even though I ordered that one first (5:30am eastern).

I ordered AppleCare with my 64 GB white iPhone 4S but mine is in Preparing for Shipment since yesterday and the AppleCare shows as complete. However I can't find any shipping info on FedEx or UPS and my order was email confirmed at 3:56 AM ET on Friday Oct 7th. Also of note, I've not seen a charge on my credit card for the phone yet, but do for the AppleCare.

I wonder how they are processing these? I used to like to believe it was in order of order placement, but obviously not given people that have theres shipped and ordered after me.

I ordered from AT&T.com around 1:00-1:30 AM PST time and I've had no luck using the trick. I've tried my phone # with a 1, without the 1 and my order #.

I ordered two iphones from the apple.com store on Friday the 14th @ ~2pm PST.

"Preparing for Shipment", but no luck with any information on UPS or FEDEX.

:(

Is anyone on here from FL that ordered as soon as the orders opened.. and got a tracking number.. still nothing.. i get a preparing for shipment from apple and a "not found" on both UPS and FedEx:mad:

From Florida, but ordered from Sprint.

Still nothing on my end.

We're just like a bunch of kids shaking the presents under the tree! I want to thank Apple for giving me a piece of my childhood back every time they release a new product.

Note that if you create an account on UPS.com and log in before tracking, you'll get more information back in the Additional Information section. There's generally about six reference numbers attached to the shipment -- one of which being your phone number (the one associated with your purchase, i.e., Apple Store ID if you ordered that way) and another being your order number. If you ordered from the Apple Store one of the reference numbers will likely be the order number w/ the last two digits missing. So, if you happened to order more than one phone (as I did) you can figure out exactly which one it is.

Oddly enough, my wife's white 64GB phone has been shipped (according to tracking by reference on UPS.com) but my black 64GB phone has not. Hers was ordered about 30 mins after mine. Both show as Preparing for Shipment on Apple's site.

EDIT: FWIW, both phones were ordered between 2 and 3pm EST last Friday.

Yes, mine is coming UPS started shipping process on 10/9 China, Cleared Hong Kong 10/10 and should be in Alaska within a few hours...

2 years ago my 3GS didn't ship to me from China like everybody else's was. It shipped from Tennessee via FedEx.

It didn't get a tracking # until 3am the day it was promised for delivery. It was at my house around 10am.

Most everybody on MacRumors was tracking flights from China and watching their phones, while mine was "preparing for shipment" the entire time.

I tried using my order number with the last two digits removed and got a hit on an order going to California, which isn't my order because I live in Virginia.
