This is why I NEVER order an iPhone from Apple
They are terrific, the very best online store for ordering Macs and other items, but when it comes to iPhones, no one is as fast as AT&T.
I ordered one for my wife and I already have a confirmed FedEx delivery time for Friday before 10am.
I would not be surprised if it arrived early, on Thursday of this week since that's what happened last year they were early by one day prior to release day.
My friends that decided to get theirs at the Apple store were pissed to see I already had my iPhone 4 and didn't have to stand in line.
FedEx is so far superior to UPS, plus I get it before 10 am instead of having to wait all day.
UPS and FedEx aren't showing my order. Apple.com shows "Preparing for Shipment" as the status and "Delivers Oct 14th" for the delivery date. I ordered the phone at 3:45AM Eastern on Friday and it's a White 32GB on AT&T.
I called UPS this morning, and was told that my iPhone 4S (Shipped by SPRINT) would be delivered on Wednesday, the 12th. I asked if there was a hold on it until the 14th and was told no!Anyone think this may reallyyyy happen???
Just a shot in the dark here, but did any of the people who ordered from Apple on Friday that are not able to track also purchase AppleCare? My phone has been "preparing" since Saturday, but AC is still processing. Both say 14th delivery.
Yes, I agree with your point. I'm in a large city with all delivery services.I guess it depends where you are. UPS is superior where I am. Fedex actually shutdown all its kinko's/delivery stores because they weren't generating enough business. Come to think of it I rarely see a FedEx truck anymore. I'm located in central jersey/shore area.

Ordered from apple.com at 5:30am eastern Friday morning. Still no shipping email or info from UPS along with FedEx.Still says "Preparing for shipment" on Apple's website.
Is anyone on here from FL that ordered as soon as the orders opened.. and got a tracking number.. still nothing.. i get a preparing for shipment from apple and a "not found" on both UPS and FedEx![]()
Threads like this are why I come to this site
Bunch of geeks trying to find info on something that won't be there for days
And yes, I am right there with them in wanting everything early

Note that if you create an account on UPS.com and log in before tracking, you'll get more information back in the Additional Information section. There's generally about six reference numbers attached to the shipment -- one of which being your phone number (the one associated with your purchase, i.e., Apple Store ID if you ordered that way) and another being your order number. If you ordered from the Apple Store one of the reference numbers will likely be the order number w/ the last two digits missing. So, if you happened to order more than one phone (as I did) you can figure out exactly which one it is.
Oddly enough, my wife's white 64GB phone has been shipped (according to tracking by reference on UPS.com) but my black 64GB phone has not. Hers was ordered about 30 mins after mine. Both show as Preparing for Shipment on Apple's site.
EDIT: FWIW, both phones were ordered between 2 and 3pm EST last Friday.
I tried using my order number with the last two digits removed and got a hit on an order going to California, which isn't my order because I live in Virginia.Note that if you create an account on UPS.com and log in before tracking, you'll get more information back in the Additional Information section.
