why why why why why why why why why why why why do I keep getting an error?!?! Anyone else getting the error? Does persistence pay off?
 
Been trying nonstop for 2.5 hours on both ATT and Apple sites. Variety of errors, no progress. This is frustrating.
 
Persistence does pay off - successful

Mine took a series of steps, getting notice of my elegibility took a bunch of tries, getting it in my cart was the first significant step. Then once it was in my cart it took another bunch of tries to finally start the checkout process. Then a bunch of tries to finally get it checked out. I can go on and check my account and it shows it as a purchase, but still no email.

It took from 6:30 to almost 9:30 a.m. EDT.

When I tried ATT earlier this morning it wasn't any better so I kept my focus on the Apple Store.

Keep trying. It seems to be dependent upon getting lucky and finding a window in all the crashes.
 
I had issues with ATT.com, but got a rep to STAY on the phone while I went through my variety of errors and she talked (re-navigated) me through the messed up process/site.

She wasnt getting off the phone with me untill I got my conformation number. I felt stupid, but eventially got it ordered. Like pullin' friggin' teeth, but done.


Call and have someone take your hand and walk you through it (like me). Who cares if you feel stupid. Its their job to help and it WAS a messed up process (for me at least- I have FAN to make things even more messed up).
 
Some bad news my cousin manages an AT&T store and infomed me that all orders placed on line with AT&T will most likely be delivered the 25th or later. The phone ships on the 24th. Only apples website states delivery by the 24th.

I call shenanigans.

Was there something you had to do other than login to your account and click the upgrade link?
 
yay! i was able to order 3 iPhones 1 32gb and 2 16gbs. had to order one thru AT&T because the apple website wouldnt allowed shipping in one of them it was weird. i cant wait!:D
 
Reserving was pretty painless for me.

woke up this morning around 5:30 to get ready for work. noticed pre-orders were available and got thru no issues. Received confirmation e-mail and everything:D
 
Website crashed as I was submitting but I look good, moneys gone and do have an order #.

I live in a small area... and I just got back from my AT&T store and there were quite a few people there. But I have a friend there and it didn't take too long for me and my brother to pre-order, even with all the problems they have been having.

Also, my friend informed me they are telling people the 24th, but there is a possibility that it may ship earlier, so take it how you wanna take it... but it makes sense I could see them getting shipped early next week maybe.
 
Got order through, but they would only ship to my at&t billing address. After waiting 15 minutes, I was able to log back in and change the shipping address. Hope that doesn't screw up my order.
 
got mine done at Best Buy this morning 32gig white on pre order. No garauntee about the 24th, but I am crossing my fingers :eek:

I had to trick the system though. I am presently on a 8 year old 1000 minute voice plan for $29. When I got to the voice plan selection screen, I had no option to keep my existing voice plan. I chose to add the 450 minute plan so I could continue. When I got to the cart, I deleted the voice plan and it let me place the order. i am hoping since there was no voice plan selected they will have to default to my existing voice plan. if not, I have all of my account info printed and will force them to re-add my 1000 minute plan

I was also able to choose a different shipping address though premier
 
I preorderd a 32Gb Iphone 4 for instore pickup at apple store in San Antonio! I got my email confirmation too.
 
Ive been trying apple.com for three hours. Its now 10:50est and no luck. Anyone found a way to make the iPhone4 show up on AT&T site when having a FAN discount. Whenever I choose upgrade I dont get the iPhone4 as an option. :confused:

Well, first I tried to upgrade and they were updating the site, ( which I had NO clue was happening while I tried to up grade). Good timing AT&T. People had already placed orders, so it wasn't too early.

Next time I tried to upgrade, the site wasn't allowing me to upgrade at all, then when I FINALLY got the option to upgrade, the iPhone 4 wasn't an option, whIch after trying three times ( with both of my lines) was verified by the rep, we started over, she did some finaggling with my FAN (which was initially messing things up) we went through step by step and eventually got it to take.

So no. I couldn't just log into my account and upgrade. it's all behind me now.

I'm done too . . . couldn't get the 16gb to work so I had to bite the bullet and order the 32gb. 5 hours of trying to order later and I finally am complete.
