I wasn't able to order through Apple, so I went to AT&T. logging into my family account log in (my mom gave it to me, I'm just an additional line, she is primary account holder), we are a FAN account / Premier Account holder as of a few weeks ago. I received error messages when trying to upgrade my line, saying to go into the store.
I decided to try and just preorder one under a new account in my name.
It worked. It all went through, absolutely NO hassle involved. I even got a chat window that popped up and was talking with a customer service rep on their website.
I asked her the following:
1) would I be able to apply my already existing AT&T phone number to this phone, since I'm already on a family plan.
-- She told me yes, just wait until I get the phone.
2) If i decided to want to stick with my already existing family plan on my mom's account, would I be able to cancel this new account, and just use this phone as my upgrade for my family plan account?
-- She also told me yes, and that I may have to take it into the store in order to do so, but that I should be able to.
Here's hoping it works.
I received an e-mail confirmation, and a tracking number.
It says it is processing.
