Apple are soooooo going to shower you with free stuff to keep you quiet on this one.
Probably best not to mention you've already posted it on one of the webs most popular Mac destinations tho'.![]()
This should also serve as a good lesson to never ignore a notebook battery recall....
QFT. I never used that acronym before.![]()
But this is so true. You gotta do it. When the recall happened, there were people who thought they could be clever, also, and just keep their original battery. This is why you do not want to do that. What if the notebook had been unattended when this happened? My iBook (with replacement battery, per the recall) is now sitting at home, plugged in. No one is there except my cat, Iago. What if it had caught fire?
It came in an Apple laptop. I wouldn't give a flying **** who made it. Period. It's not my job to see who made the parts inside my Apple laptop to ensure that it won't explode. That assurance should automatically come with my purchase. On the trusting apple thing: They didn't make that battery. Sony did (IIRC).

As for your English homework, I'm sure if you explain - perhaps with a note from your dad as well - that your computer exploded while you were working on your essay your teacher might make an exception.
And Sony issued a recall. Apple did their due diligence and issued the recall on Sony batteries that they included with their products as they identified which ones were affected. This was all covered in the news BIG TIME for MONTHS when it happened. Yes, it sucks that some of these batteries were defective and led to overheating/fire. However, saying that Apple is somehow responsible for the OP still having a bad battery is absurd. They did all they could to take care of the problem. If people IGNORE THE ISSUE, that's not Apple's fault AT ALL.
