I know I could say lots of stuff, but it has all been said before.

I am so excited about this. So very pants-wettingly excited. :D

Thank you for the explanation. Would that mean that these apps would work better in Leopard, or simply that final products created by Final Cut Studio will run better in Leopard?

I'm just speaking in general about a full-blown 64-bit GUI-based app running under Tiger. They're not easily put together, at least not at this point in time, without building most/much of the GUI from scratch.

I'd think FCStudio2 would have been designed with Leopard's 64-bit features/abilities in mind. So, in theory at least, there may be aspects of the app that could be "unleased" in a sense via the improved 64-bit support under Leopard.

I'm only basing this opinion on what I've seen with other OSs during their 64-bit expansion phases, combined work in programming.... I'm just offering "theory" in other words, not speaking specifically about this new Apple app, nor do I have any sort of direct knowledge regarding how it actually is coded, or works. :p

wow...that`s all i can say.
motion2 was the reason of our company`s sucsses. when it came out, we were one of the few componies who used apple softwares in iran. using these apps and the great maya we bacame a huge compony....

but time changed everything. similar apps came out for pc. suddenly we had to throw away our power pc macs and buy intel based macs. rumors about usa attacking iran made apple compters really expensive here.my personal mac pro cost me about 4000$.the orginal price was 2800$!. company`s lawyer told us we have to switch to pc or we`re dead!
of course we didint listen and spent most of our money buying mac pros. we bought 12 mac pro each one at the price of 4000! we lost LOTS and LOTS of money! it was crazy!
but after all, when i see motion3`s new increadble features i say to my self "we did the right thing!"

... cant wait to get my hands on motion3

Wow, thats pretty....intense!

Anyone Become Sick Of Apple?

I dunno what is has been lately, mabye the delay in leopard, but i'v become really tired of apple. For so long have i been fixated about there every move, but now i just cant be bothered. It's as if they have have just left there computers behind and instead focused on the less exciting such as apple tv iphone. I mean , why the hell didnt jobs say anything at NAB to help mend our shattered hopes for a new os soon?

I checked into the discussion hoping to see people talking about the new stuff(I think Color is going to be a killer), and I've read more stuff about people complaining. Wow.

How can you even THINK that Apple is abandoning the Mac when they unveil an amazing suite of high-quality software for it???

Some people are just plain retarded. Grow up.

This sucks guess i got to go by a windows system now. Hope next time i need a new system it will be after they release some new products just can justify paying premium price for overdue hardware.

Did you really expect basic stuff at NAB...come on! Where is Apple behind? Merom is still being used, so iMac, MacBook and MacBook Pro are all good, Mac Pro is still a chip currently only Apple has so that perfect. Mac Mini is the only thing o overdue for an update, but its a low end Mac.

This whole Apple and Intel thing worked out well, but now we have the whole board saying "Intel say a new chip is coming soon, we must wait!", something we didn't have in the PPC days, people based the purchase off the speed of the computer, and if you only going to what the Mac Mini is for(Safari, iTunes, Pages, iPhote, iMovie ect), a Core Duo computer is more then you need!

In this case, however, what you're looking at is clearly a derivative/rebranded version of Proximity's Artbox, which was cross-platform already and acquired by Apple a while ago

Thanks for the info !

As for Quicktime for Windows, I thought they did it before OS X, with lots of Quickdraw behind the scenes. Are new Quartz-based APIs ported to Windows ? or does iTunes only use older API for compatibility ?

Sorry for being off-topic.

Why does this happen everytime Apple hosts a special event? These whiners really need to wake up and pay attention. What did you honestly expect at NAB? I expected a Final Cut update and that's exactly what we got. The NAB is strictly for professionals so quit the complaining.

And of course Apple is going out focus on the Apple TV and iPhone right now... they're brand new products! Do you know what it takes to release a product as huge as the iPhone? Obviously a lot if it means delaying their next major OS. Do you honestly think Apple wanted to delay Leopard? Of course not! Getting the iPhone out on time is their most important goal right now. If they miss the June mark, they're practically screwed.

So please... look at Apple from a bunsiness point of view, because they are a business. They have two markets to constantly satisfy: the consumers and the pro community. Our favorite company just happens to lead the way when it comes to professional software like Final Cut. You should recognize this. Their focues doesn't always have to revolve around the consumers.

And to the people threatening to purchase a Windows computer, go ahead and do it already. You're obviously not bright enough to get what's going on here, so you might as well join the "dark side."

Sorry to rant, but this happens every damn time. Unfortunately we have so many narrow-minded people who post here. God forbit Apple updates their pro software. Without their pro software we wouldn't be where we are today in terms of the entertainment industry. So like someone else said... grow up.

That's pretty intense. I didn't realize it was legal for American computing companies to sell anything in or to Iran, given the embargo and sanctions on such products since the revolution. Must have been grey market.

Is it just me? I have been waiting for months for this event to finally see some new HW like iMac, Mac Mini, new screens, etc. Based on the rumor sides I really expected announcements, like last year. I cannot wait anymore on new HW, so probably have to buy second hand Mac Mini to use till the HW finally comes. Disappointed.

Yes, it is just you. If you have waited 'months' for this event, then you should be thrilled with the new pro video tools. If you were expecting this to be the venue for a large hardware announcement, well I guess you set yourself up for disappointment.

"what is has been" ? "mabye" ? "i'v" ? "there every move" ? "cant" ? "there computers" ? "didnt" ? Our "shattered hopes" ? ..... what about our terrible spelling, inadequate typing skills, atrocious grammatical errors and dimwitted hyperbole ?

It's all a bit taxing for the feeble-minded, this focus on one thing (to the exclusion of all else), isn't it?

I agree with pretty much everything you pointed out but Apple did it to itself by becoming a "Consumer Electronics Company". Consumers are notoriously fickle and tend to be very fair-weather...

just my 2¢

Did anyone else notice DVD Studio Pro didn't recieve an upgrade.

I was hoping for blu-ray support

I think there will be greater Blu-Ray support when they finally finalize their spec.; with respect to dynamic menus picture-in-picture and other object application, etc. Blu-Ray board just "adopted" BD-J as a standard last week, better late then never. So we should be seeing more software support in the coming months but there still is the problem of hardware cost, violet laser diodes are still relatively expensive.

Adobe just **** it's pants. First FCP took over, then DVD Studio Pro, then Soundtrack Pro, and now Motion finally got the overhaul it needed. Goodbye 3D stroke plugin, goodbye After Effects over Motion. It looks as if Apple did a great job copying After Effects in the 3D cameras and lights department. I just hope they get Trapcode to make plugins for Motion. Apple, just kill Livetype already, it should really just be built into Motion.

One more interesting thing, check out these videos and tell me that is not Leopard's text to speech technology at work?

EDIT: I was wrong on the text-to-speech thing, it did sound slightly odd to me though. That would be sweet if Apple could actually secretly pull that off though, and then wow everyone a few days later with the news of how far text-to-speech technology has come.

God I dunno why people are complaining, this is amazing! I am soo excited bout FCS2, will make my life soo much easier. Motion 3 just looks like fun, god I love this industry...

The reason some are complaining is for legitimate reasons. There seem to be some apps that were not addressed with this upgrade. Logic and DVDSP are two notable ones. Also, everyone has their 'wish list' and not everyone gets what they want. Some are vocal about it.

However, much of the negativity is due to irrational expectations and the MS anti-Apple posting campaign. When Apple delayed release of Leopard, they smelled the 'blood in the water'. Better get used to it. They will seize on every subject to post their drivel.

it is grey market. actually we dont buy things from apple it self. in the case of mac pros we ordered them to another company in new york.they bought them and sent them to dubi (in middle east). and then they posted the computers to iran! and that`s how a 2800$ computer becomes a 4000$.

I believe the reason of these unacceptable prices is iranian goverment. i mean dell and hp can have branches in iran, why apple cant?
this has become a huge problem for apple users in iran. there is no REAL support for apple computers owner here.

Sorry to interject but I agree with your point. The switch to Intel by Apple has worked out really well, especially for its low and portible lines... Why? Because Apple finally has access to chipsets that'll allow it to realize its software asperations... aka native HD authoring, without the PPC FSB bottleneck but now the software is just now catching up to the hardware... the main thing holding me back from intelMac adoption was software and software... with creative suite 3 coming out and now apple FCPS upgrades, I think the time's getting extremely close to upgrade my powerbook.

http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/dvdstudiopro/

I find it odd that they put effort into the creation of subtitles, while iTS movies do not come with them even as an option...

That will probably be added in the next version of iTunes and the iTS. Then again DVD Studio Pro is exactly for what the name implies, creating DVDs. Apple did not decide on making subtitle tracks an option on a DVD a standard. I am not surprised at all that DVD Studio Pro didn't get updated, what is there to upgrade, when most of the authoring process has already been determined by the DVD Forum. I would bet on there being a free update late this year or early next year with DVD Studio Pro 4.5 featuring better HD support and a few new bells and whistles.
