just fyi the forum does have policies about duplicate threads here... the biggest mistake was typing another naked thread. So obviously TS knows there have been others.. but I guess he needs his 5 minutes of fame.... ;)

OFF TOPIC. THREAD VIOLATION. You all need to pay a penalty.

Folks. Angry internet people are unattractive.

I have always had a case on or a bumpe. I decided to go naked with my white 4S, so I placed a ghost armor on the phone. My only concern is the camera lense getting damaged/scratched when placing the phone on my desk or other flat surface.

Do others have these concerns and how do you avoid scratching the lense?

Its not really naked if you wrapped it in ghost armor.

Thread for people not using a case for your iPhone 4s

I am debating if I should use a case?

Anyone here does not use a case? Have you phone got scratched or broke? Please post your experience here.

I don't use a case, but I do use a full body skin to protect from surface scratches...although the Iphone is scratch resistant, it is not scratch proof

I stopped using a case on my i4. Turned out every time I put it on my desk or table, I would make a small scratch on the camera and flash. ruined it because of that. the new one has a case, and gets put down a lot more carefully on the touch screen side.

There are people here that will claim they never use a case for years and that their device still is like new.

They need glasses! I have a scuff mark on the back of my 4s from just sliding it in and out of the case each few weeks to clean out any debris!

We never said it was like new.

We said that scuff marks are not cracks and they are not scratches and that they are better than any case.

I'm using screen protectors on front and back and a clear bumper guard. It keeps the phone off of surfaces and maintains the naked look.

Cool, here's mine. :D

I'm using front + back film protectors and LuckyLabs spectra wrap for the antenna band. Adds some style to it while still keeping the form factor. If I drop it though I'm toast!

I only use thin cases. Casemate barely there is my fav. Trying Moshi iGlaze now, personally I think they're crap.

Why do people use cases??? It ruin the quality of the phone. If you put it in a case you might as well get a free phone and put it in the case.

Before the iphone even came out, my nokia n95 cost 300-400 dollars without contract and nobody even thought about cases or screen protections. It all started because of apple. So what if you have scratches on your phone, so what if you drop it. Just get a new one. By the time your device is all scratched up, a new device is probably just around the corner.

Just sitting it down on the naked back can scratch the lens.

The edges of the glass are exposed so that you will likely break the glass if you drop the phone.

The oleophobic coating on the front scratches easily.

The stainless steel antenna is very easy to damage.

There are way too many horror stories to risk going naked.

I really hate looking at all the pics of destroyed phones.

Get a good case.

Used my iphone 4 since launch day. Only used a case when I was out hiking or skiing.

Same with my 4S, I ordered a case, but will only put it on when I am doing something that I think could increase the likelihood of damaging it.

What's the point of having a beautifully designed phone (and no doubt heavily R&D on the design by Apple on how it feels in your hand and how it looks), then to have it wrapped in some 3rd party ugly piece of plastic that probably took a month to design?

I put a thin case on my 3gs. That created much more scratches from dusts and sand getting between the backing, even though the case feels skin tight.

I have clear protectors all around right now, and just set it down carefully on the table instead of tossing it. The 4s still looks brand new. And I pay attention to the smallest details.

If in the event the phone gets too much scratches and scuffing, then I'll put on a case to hide it. By that time I'm probably tired of looking at the phone, and a change would be welcome anyways. And the next phone would be coming out right around the corner.

I had gotten a case for my iPhone 4 when they were giving out free cases. I had an Incase Snapcase that worked well and allowed me to use the holster I had been using since my 3G. But I have to say ever since I got my 4S I've really enjoyed the phone without a case - there's a definite different feel to it.

Haven't dropped it or anything yet, and I'm sure more than likely I'll be getting a case some time in the future - but I really do like handling the phone without a case right now.

I love the naked iPhone.

But I have thrown on a Dodo Book Back on it and love it. Simple high quality leather just covering the back and not the sides. Perfect.

Apple's design is elegant but not practical. Form over function. I agree its a shame to hide the phone. So you should complain to apple and ask for:

Gorilla Glass or sapphire crystal
Removal of the AF coating which like the clearcoat on your car (another stupid innovation) scratches very easily
A stronger band that covers the edges of the glass or more of a bumper band.

Just as elegant but more suited for pocket / mobile use.

Oh and they can offer damage protection included in their warranty (if they are so confident in their design).

My solution is to buy a few bumpers from sw-box. They are cheap enough to buy quite a few to have as spares. My favorite of the ones I ordered is the black/white bumper... it has that storm trooper look to it on my white 4s.

I REALLY like that!

That is so slick.. wow!!

My phone is naked as well. Been doing since all the iPhones. I'm sure most of you partly bought the iPhone for the amazing design of the phone, but now that you have it, you want to cover it all up and not enjoy it? For the 4S, the only thing I have on it is the Power Support Crystal Film to prevent scratches that it will ultimately get. I'm not going to baby this phone, but I'm not going to be reckless with it either. It's just a phone, and that's why I have AppleCare+

So true. This flimsy glass is just an idiotic choice of material. The upcoming model has got to be better. A friend in the glass business is a certified Apple fanboi, and even he says it's a poor quality glass Apple uses. It's the first negative thing he's ever said about anything Apple.

I've been using the iKonicEdge pouch on my 3Gs and my new 4S (got it Friday) and will never go to a regular case again.

Leather pouches ARE very snug at first, but after maybe a 10 day to 2 week breakin time the work great. Easy to remove the phone and it does not fall out.

Got the new pouch for my new 4s the other day. Seems iKonicEdge revamped their pouches (at least for the 4 and 4s) as there is no break in period...must be he initial build is a little more relaxed or they pre-break in before shipping. My phone slips in no problem and out nicely with a small pinch at the bottom, and is secure when in the pouch. No worries of it falling out on its own.
