Mine is naked because I have insurance from Verizon. When it gets beat up enough I will just get it replaced.

Naked all the way. I used my black iphone 5 naked for a year and sold it back to verizon for $350 when i only paid $300 for it. I have the gold iphone 5s now and it is just way too beautiful to put in a case. I dont treat my phone like **** so after 3 months with it it still looks brand new.

If my phone wasn't so badly damaged I would still be using a case. But still my screen cracked from a short distance hitting a cement block with a Speck case on. After that happened I never bothered using a case again. Plus you have to admire the design of the iPhone.

Haven't used a case on my phone since 2007 when the first iPhone came out and have had every single version since then. Ive obviously dropped it a few times, you know the occasional "forgot my phone was in my lap before stepping out of the car". The phones are pretty sturdy from my experience. Phone was made to be used and look sleek. Why put a case on it especially since there is a repair service offered from apple now. Some of those otter box cases i see are just ridiculously chunky lol

Never used a case on 3G and 3GS .... but since iPhone 4 Apple made very fragile devices (except iPhone 5C that remind me of the old 3GS).

When ever I buy a new iPhone I always purchase a case as well, and then take it off within the next hour.

It comes down to the beauty and feel of the device for me. Be careful with it, and you'll be fine.

And I have OCD, still doesn't get to me.

I almost always prefer phones with no case. But I find the less than "round" edges of the iPhone since the iPhone 4 are a bit uncomfortable. This is solved with a case. I also work outside in dirty, dusty, sometimes wet, sometimes muddy environments. So I use a case...

Been rocking the Otterbox Commuter series and couldn't be happier. Used it on my iP5 and now 5S, It does add slight amount of weight but also adds a comfortable amount of width to the device. I have also had near drop moments many times and it has definitely protected my iP5 and 5S from shattering and/or getting dented.

I like to keep my devices in mint/brand new condition because resale to me is very very important as I like to upgrade yearly. The amount of care I put into my iPhones while using them to the fullest extent is always appreciated by the second hand buyer as well.

I do not purchase AppleCare+ because I purchase my devices at full price [no contracts] and look at expenses over 2yr/24months rather than just today [if you all really think about it, it adds up quick] and adding AppleCare+ at $99 + $79 for replacements + $849 + Taxes makes you really think about where you want to spend your money and how careful you want to be.

Way too much time spent worrying about a phone.

Have a 1 week old 5s never use cases, screen protector, it makes me laugh when I see people with bulky cases on there phones and screen protectors and what not.

Why have one of the best looking phones on the market and cover it up so it looks like an old Nokia? Plus I like to feel my phone in my hand, I like to feel the brushed metal and smooth screen not some crappy plastic case.

My 5S has been completely naked for the past 2 months. It's holding up just fine. There are some nicks on the chamfered edges but its impossible to avoid - I think they would even come with a case on.

I'm not extremely careful with my phone, but at the very least, I am mindful of where it is.

Yeah I agree, little marks are going to happen, I known I'm taking a risk by not having it cased as I single drop could take out the digitizer and / or screen or dent the metal in but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

Would you buy a nice new car and cover it in plastic covers or put sheets of plastic on the windscreen?

I don't spend time babying my phone and like I said, I use it to its fullest extent and everywhere, Im naturally careful and the Defender case works best for me to avoid possible accidents, helps prevent water contact with the ports etc and once again for my average hands it makes the phone more comfortable to hold and type on.

For me having that case on it is just piece of mine that my phone isn't going to shatter the moment it hits the floor at any given time.

No way, no how. One can keep it pretty much stock weight and feel, plenty of cheap but good cases out there to accomplish that. Now those may not provide ulitmate protection but much better than nothing as far as I am concerned. And one could go clear if they want to retain the nice look of the 5s.

Mission accomplished! :D

I never buy new gadgets to be cool. I buy them for the new tech inside; physical design doesn't get my rocks off.

I bought the 5S mostly because of the ecosystem. I bought a case right away, as everybody and their mother has a 5/5s and i like being incognito with my electronics.

I prefer not using a case or screen protector, but I ended up finding an otterbox on sale and went ahead and bought it. REALLY glad I did. Last time my boyfriend was home, we were out running errands and I went to get back into his truck (Which is a lifted toyota and i'm short, so it's a little bit of a struggle), and my 5s dropped out of my pocket and did a face plant in the parking lot. Needless to say, I was VERY happy that I had an otterbox on my 5s.

I never understood why anybody would use a case on a beautiful design like the iPhone 5 or 5S.

All cases, no matter how slim, absolutely ruin the look. You may think they're sleek and thin, but at the end of the day you have a case and it's just not the same. It sucks. And deep down inside you know it sucks.

...blah blah blah...

Don't hate the player. Hate the game.

I hate the look of the back of the iPhone 5/5S with the two glass pieces on the top and bottom. I also hate scratches and dings, so I use an Uncommon, all black case, and I love it. To each his own - playa  :D

If I had the 5C, I would probably not use a case.

I almost never use a case on any of my iPhones. The only ones I even remotely liked were the Bumper case for my iPhone 4S and the current Caudabe Veil for my 5S. I only use them if I'm going out somewhere where I know I'll be sitting the phone down flat and it could potentially get scratched from sliding or whatever else is on the surface. Other than that, always naked.
