Caudabe Veil at work. Naked (save for a basic front screen protector) at all other times.
Rocked my 4S for two years completely naked at all times. Had a few minor hairline scratches on the back, and still got the maximum trade-in amount from the Verizon store.
Hi everyone, i've been trying a lot of different cases/back covers/bumpers for my 5s and i still can't find the perfect one. I think the size, weight and feel of the naked iPhone can't be experienced with a case; however, it's too scary for mee to not use any protection on my 5s.
To those who don't wear any cases, do you recommend it? Is your iPhone too damaged, scratched, etc.? Have you ever regret not using a case? Please convince me to go naked![]()
I dropped my phone this past weekend, out of my lap, out the car door, and onto pavement. Thank you, Otterbox, for saving me. My phone would have been destroyed if it weren't in a case.
Having done this with my old 3GS i can confirm the phone wouldnt be "destroyed" by any length! Mine had a small ding on the plastic casing despite ending up face down. I've also had my iPhone 5 knocked out of my hand outside a pub dropping it from a standing position which marked the black banding but nothing more.
They are pretty hardy devices actually!
I finally bought this: http://www.amazon.com/Skinomi®-TechSkin-Definition-Anti-Bubble-Replacement/dp/B00CTVJGKI
I've only applied the side/corners and back protectors, but no the screen protector (i've never liked to use screen protectors, i don't like its feeling). The iPhone looks like naked, but it has at least good protection against scratches. Best solution for those who want the look&feel of a naked iPhone but also want to protect it against small scratches. Bye bye ugly cases!![]()
It's funny how people say Apple meant for the phone to be naked disregarding the fact that Apple also makes and sells cases for the iPhone as well.
Yet you never see these cases in any Apple ads.
Also their own dock doesn't work with cased iPhones. They probably figured they might as well make some money off the butterfingered people too.
Is there a good waterproof case for the iphone? I saw someone playing with their samsung phone in the pool this weekend, and I think that that's pretty cool.

I see iphone 5 ones... I have an iPhone 4, though.
I've used my iPhone 5 buck naked since 2012 and I've had plenty of drops. Yes, it's scratched to hell even though I take good care of my devices. But the screen is perfect and I love using the phone as Apple intended. They spent all that time and money and effort designing a beautiful premium feeling aluminum and glass phone and it's a shame to cover it up with plastic IMHO.
Now I do believe there are exceptions. If you are using it for running or outdoor activities or around water or something like that then by all means throw it in a case. But for everyday use I say go naked.
You have protection. You got AppleCare+ with your phone right? Right?
Two incidents of Accidental Damage and Handling (ADH) at $49 each, no questions asked.
I hate cases, they ruin the look and there are some real fugly ones (Otterbox) that make your phone unrecognizable as an iPhone. But I don't resell my phones, I use them and enjoy them and then move on to the next when I can afford it and put the old one to a different use.
Most people wanting a pristine iPhone AND using a case to achieve that are doing it because they want to resell the phone to fund a new one. I don't play that game, especially when I have to hide my phone during the years I'm using it. When you have heart palpitations because your phone is out of your case for cleaning and it's all you can do to get it back into it's case – well it's time to rethink things.
My iPhone has been dropped, it has scratches and scuffs and one chamfered edge has been worn. But it's not beat up and it's fully functional. Use a case or not, it's personal preference.
I'd just rather enjoy seeing and using my phone without a case being in the way.
I don't keep my phone in a case for resale value, I keep it in a case when I leave home incase it gets damaged.
I don't want scuffs and scratches, I like my gear to look pristine, looked after, immaculate. It's an expensive piece of kit so there's nothing wrong with wanting it to look as good as it did the day it left the box.
I do that for MY enjoyment. I use the phone without a case when at home (I'm on my iPhone a lot for browsing - like now as I cook dinner).
I don't believe that "scuffs add character" either. I work hard and earn my toys ... nothing wrong with keeping them in as best condition as possible for ones own enjoyment.
I look at other people's scratched/scuffed phones and think they're careless. That might not be the case (no pun intended), but for me I'd rather be seen with my phone in a case than with a phone that looks like it's been through a blender.
Of course, neither "version" is wrong ... it's all down to personal preference.
naked all the way.
