Pass a kidney stone with no pain killers. I hear that is comparable pain.
My fiance and my last two ex's had kidney stones in their opinion childbirth was easier--and yes apparently I tend to attract a lot of MILFs...Its a good thing that I am great with kids

5. Been to every continent bar 2 (antartica!) before I was 16!

You made it to McMurdo/Scott Station? I landed On Pegasus runway on one of our C-17's. Stuck around for about 2 hours and bailed. I know drinking and getting "really friendly" is one of the past times down there. Not much else to do there.

They say the closest a man can come to experiencing the pain of child birth is to pass a 5mm+ kidney stone through his urethra. I cannot imagine this pain
Been there, it hurt like hell , altho the actual passing-the-stone-through-the-urethra wasn't painful, it was the part when it was passing through the ureter that was just completely unbearable -- from the kidney to the bladder. From that point on, barely felt a thing.

The stone, apparently, had this 2 mm spike protruding from it, and that's what caused most of the trouble. And the hospital had the dumbest policy regarding painkillers, all they would give me was IV paracetamol. It did nothing to numb the excruciating pain :(

To tell you the truth, I was disappointed that they wouldn't give me anything stronger than Tylenol :/ I'm actually curious if this is common procedure, it doesn't make sense...

It is fairly common to provide minimal pain medication. Due to the pain being nearly impossible to stifle. It hurts because of pressure and stretching of the ureter, not tearing or cutting like a flesh wound. Nausea is a common side effect as well, and thats usually the second priority after pain management. Pump them full of reglan and they're much better ;)

My first go around with the stones I got a nice demerol IV. Of course I didn't pass the stones while in the hospital and the pain subsided. Then a few weeks later, when you least expect it POW - blinding, cold sweat, knock you out pain.

They're jagged little buggers reminding me of Rice Krispies. Being jagged they lodge themselves in various places until they are passed - if they are passed.

I chose to pass mine vs. the Roto Rooter approach the urologist was championing.

Ripped my scrotum open hopping a chain link fence when I was six.
Ouch.

I think so.

Reminds me of a story our HS coach told us. We were in the locker room after practice doing the usual grab ass things guys do including snapping at each other with towels.

Well, he walked in, saw us doing that, and grabbed one of the star players and slapped him upside the wall a few feet in the air and when into a rant about snapping towels. Then left. We were all stunned to say the least.

A few minutes later he returned an apologized and explained that when he was in HS or college, they were doing the same thing. One fellow when to snap a guy in the butt, but the guy turned around at the last second and the snap went to the scrotum and burst it open with both items dropping.

He went into a bit more graphic detail. Needless to say, we didn't snap each other with towels after that.

That is one experience that I hope I do not receive in this lifetime.

Had a few friends go through it. Not fun.

Wonderful. :(

OK I have a new one, applied for a "Working Holiday Visa" to go and work in Australia and have a holiday at the same time lol IDK how many people here have applied so I am guessing 99% haven't done this.

I always saw my pop as some sort of giant superman till a saw him on his knees in front of the toilet, his wang out screaming and in tears. Since that day I have made sure to do as much as I can with my diet to prevent kidney stones. I didn't manage to avoid my first heart attack but so help me I will do my best to avoid that!

in the delivery room
did your hubby shout heyyyy batter batter LOL
My husband was there, but I really don't remember what he was doing! I think he was probably in more pain than I was. Funny that what I do remember was the nurse wiping my face with a wet washcloth and my thinking, "God, would you stop, you're going to mess up my makeup."

Driven this for 8 hrs straight - full load, no power steering, harsh brakes and equally harsh gears.

And one of this kind for a total of 3 hours highway run on a rainy night - needless to say safely returned home ;)

Would not do that again unless at a gun point.

It's weird, docs don't like to order demerol anymore. Apparently it's HIGHLY addictive and hallucinogenic in those who are allergic  They used to give it out as a standard pain med. But in the past 5yr they've gone to mainly hydromorphone, otherwise known as dilaudid; member of the opioid family with similar affects without the crazy side effects.

Yeah the sonic thing that breaks up stones, it still hurts about the same, bc you have to pass all those smaller pieces too. Might as well pop out a big one and get it over with :p haha
