I haven't had an issue with native apps.... It's all 3rd party...

After deleting music directly from my phone, this issue disappears... Once syncing via iTunes and reinstalling music, it comes right back.

Oddly enough, one app that worked despite being on the "broken" list before was TheScore sports app... But MLB At Bat, eBay, Yelp, and the Apple Store are among those that won't work with music installed on my phone.

Oh well. Here's hoping they're really trying to fix it...

Just wanted to add my name to the list. :(

No 3rd party native apps are working unless I remove all my music, reinstall the apps. Sadly, it is not a solution. As soon as you either restart the watch, put the watch in power reserve mode, apps stop working again.

I'm just amazed that Apple still didn't acknowledge any of this. I mean, it's basically a critical bug, we can't use apps on our watch at all, and it's been going on since a long time now. As we saw the last update didn't solve anything.

Maybe some press about it would help speed up the process...

Has anybody made a Genius Bar appointment with this issue? Just curious as I haven't loaded music to my watch yet.

I did. Twice. The first two times, the guys had no clue what was going on. (This thread was much more helpful than he was). The third time, the guy knew about the problem because he experienced it and said the only known solution at this time is to set up both the watch and phone as new

This is what I expirenced. We unpaired my watch with my phone, effectively wiping it clean and paired it with a newly set up store phone. All the apps that didn't work on my phone, worked on the newly set up store phone. So their answer was to set up both my phone and watch as new. So they have no fix. It's 2016, we should be able to individually delete preference files. Even from a diagnosis mode. Wiping my device and starting over shouldn't be an option -__-

Has anyone submitted a bug on bugreport.apple.com ? I submitted one just cause it's clearly a bug

I had the same problem, no 3rd party apps were working on my new Apple Watch Sport. I tried resetting the watch and no joy, then I tried deleting the music from my iPhone as others described (in the usage menu on the iPhone and deleting all music), then sync'd with iTunes to update it to show no music, then all apps were working fine, then re-synced to add all my music back to the watch and all apps still working fine. Took about 20 - 30 minutes all in all to re-sync the music, not a big deal, and everything is working as it should now :)

Did you try to restart your watch or put your watch in reserve mode? What you did worked for me UNTIL I restarted my watch.

Yup - same experience. Also you'll note that after an app with a watch app updates, it'll break that too.

I didn't try restarting the watch, I guess i'll try to avoid that for the time being.

I might turn off the auto app updating too until there's a solid fix from Apple.

the problem is that as soon as the music is Synced back to the iPhone with iTunes the native apps on the apple watch stop working again, That supposed music delete solution does not work and i do not believe anyone that says it is, because i experienced it first hand that doing the music delete solution makes native apps on the watch work but it is not a SOLUTION nor is it a workaround because as soon you sync your music back to your iPhone the problem comes right back and native apps no longer work

shame on apple for not fixing this silly horrible bug in watchOS 2.2 , they went through 5 BETA VERSION OF 2.2, can you believe it? what in the world were they testing that needed 5 BETA TESTS before they released 2.2 when they have such a MAJOR bug plaguing the apple watch and they STILL didn't fix it in WatchOS 2.2, someone at apple is NOT doing their job right

Yeah I'm gonna have to agree here. This is a pretty serious bug and they shouldn't be dropping .x releases with it persisting. The watch in its vanilla form is pretty nice but they shouldn't tout these new third party complications as a feature when there's no way to use them.

Is everyone affected by this? I'm guessing not or else we would hear a lot more about it in the media. There must be something specific about what we have on our iPhone that is causing the issue. I bet Apple is having trouble reproducing the problem. I wish they would at least make an official statement about it.

Yeah, well, I got an Apple Watch to try out for the first time to see if it was truly worth it, and I encountered this terribly annoying issue with all third-party apps on the watch.

Terrible first impression and I'm probably not touching an Apple Watch again, much less purchasing one.

On board a Delta flight today I spoke spoke with a flight attendant on how he liked his watch. He described the same problem but figured it was just his watch. I wonder honestly whether most people even use the watch beyond its key features, making this the sleeper bug of the century.

It's not as serious as most people having the bug. I had the problem and fixed it with this thread. Came across two other people with the same issue, directed them here, and solved.

Unfortunately I have to disagree. For me it's been a recurring bug as I pointed out earlier. Others have experienced the same.

You're talking about most people though. What there seems to be is a lot of people complaining about the speed of 3rd party apps, not that they're flat-out not even opening.

This topic is about native third party apps not opening... And so far, it's still not fixed (at least for me and some others here).

It IS a serious bug. All the fixes on this thread are only temporary. Not to mention that they are time consuming and that we shouldn't have to resort to that. Of course, YMMV and one of the fixes work for you (including if you reset your watch!)...

You're misinterpreting what I'm saying. Of course, it's serious, but it's not something that's affecting most people. The complaints most people seem to have about the apps are that they're slow.

Not true. They were not temporary fixes for me and others. Haven't had any more issues since I fixed it in January.

Yes, you shouldn't have to fix this on your own, but it's not a perfect world. Either you go ahead and do what you can to fix it or yourself, and if it works, fantastic, or you return the watch.

I went through a number of things to fix the thing for myself and, ultimately, I was successful.

I see you say you removed the music and the apps, and put them back, and it was working until you reset the watch? Why not set the watch up as new, back up the phone, and set the phone up as new? Then sync everything back.

From everything I went through in my own experience, I can tell you that it seems like both devices end up playing hot potato with the bug. Solve the issue on one, and it's like the connection between the devices passes the bug back. It was not until I set both devices up as new that I ended up wiping it out.
