I stopped wearing my Apple Watch because of this issue. Apple is going downhill.

Why? Just fix it. You probably don't even need to spend like 3 hours going through all possible solutions, like me, if you just try deleting the music first. Now, I don't even have the slowness issue some are talking about. 90% of the time, all my apps load in under 5 seconds, even when they're refreshing.

Just days after deleting and reloading music the issue is back. So tonight I deleted all music and rebooted phone and watch...apps work again. Reloaded music. Apps still work. Something after that causes the problem to recur. Reboot, syncing...who knows. Frustrating.

EDIT: so one more thing to add. After getting things up and running and all my music back, I confirmed that the process will survive a reboot of the phone but NOT the watch. As soon as I restarted the watch the same series of apps that wouldn't run, failed again. :(

You have to back up the phone and set it up as a new iPhone.

Can you post a precise step by step method for us on how to fix? We followed past instructions but they brought mixed results and you seem to be certain you have a 100% fool proof working method so please do share a step by step for us, thank you that would be appriciated

Have you done everything in this thread? I read up to around page 19 before trying what I said I did on page 25.

I said everything I ended up doing on page 25. I've since come across 2 other people having this issue, and referring them to this thread has taken care of it. Basically, back things up, and set both devices up as new, and don't restore the watch from backup. I made sure things were working on the watch, and then I restored my phone from backup.

It's crazy to not have full use of the watch.

Solution is unacceptable. Paid a premium price and I don't want to spend the time to backup and restore, not to mention set up as a new iPhone. I do t understand why Apple has not fixed it in a patch.

Actually, you don't. You remove all the music, wait a few or reboot and the native apps that weren't working start working.

You can reboot the phone numerous times and still works...I'm a week in. Reboot the watch....then you're screwed and need to delete/wait/reload all music.

And for context, I have set the phone up as new as well as restored from backup and can repeat the same behavior.

So are you saying that all that's needed to be done is to remove the music from the music app on the iPhone and then Reboot and the apps should start working? I can re sync my music after the reboot?

And you're saying that from that point on when the apps start workin i should NOT restart my iphone as it will cause the native apps to stop working again and will require me to repeat the steps above again?

I do not have the issue now, no matter what...it's some kind of bug that goes on when connection is made. If you only re-set up one device, I've seen people say that the issue has come back. It did that for me too. Gone completely after I did this.

After you did "this"? Not sure what you're refereeing to as "this", Please be more clear, can you write a step by step instruction list for us so we can do the same steps as you and solve this issue?

Thank you. I did various steps mentioned in this thread and 90% of my apps do not work. Basically only using Activity Tracker and Wallet now.

He said I didn't have to set up the phone as new, and yet it sounds like he still has the issue. My issue is gone completely. All apps load within a few seconds, if not instantly, and I know I haven't had one app load to infinity and crash, since I did this. I can reboot my watch or phone, as many times as I want, and nothing.

I already said what has to be done. I'm sorry, but I really can't get any clearer than that, because I did this like 2-3 weeks ago.

Unpair watch, backup phone, format phone, format watch, set phone up as new, set watch up as new, pair and see if the apps are loading, if yes, restore iPhone so you can get all your stuff back on there. Somebody said they restored their iPhone and it came back. I haven't had that issue.

Only problem I ran into was I set up the phone as new, but the watch still had all the settings on it from when I connected and it was having the app issue (i had not been formatted yet). I connected them and the issue was still there. Formatted the watch, and it was as if the bug got passed to the phone, because I repaired and sure enough, it still wasn't working. Formatted both devices and set them up as new, and everything is smooth.

So I recently gave my son my 6s and tinkered with the 6s+ ultimately coming back to another 6s. Each time I set my phones up new - never restoring from backup and still running into this issue.

IphoneIssues: try rebooting your watch and let us know if you run into problems with apps please?

I already have done that. I turn it on and off almost everyday. No problems.

Set the watch and phone up as new and it will probably clear.

Hi - as I noted in my earlier response I've only set up my phones this way.

Where this issue doesn't affect every app I wonder whether you just haven't run into the issue.

Do you use Storm or CNN or Tweetbot?

Huh? I am telling you that you should try setting up the phone and watch as new. There's nothing else to it.

Yes, I have had this issue.

I use CNN. It was one of the apps that wouldn't load.

CNN was NOT a native app up until recently so I'm afraid you really never had the issue we are having here and you had a completely unrelated problem which you solved by restoring, I used to use cnn and it worked beautifully since I got my Apple Watch but recently it was updated to be a Native app and is no longer working just like all the other native apps

With all due respect, you really don't know what problem I was having. You don't know what problem you're having. Packages did load. Dark Sky, Sleep Pulse 2, and Gymaholic were native, and they wouldn't load. I came in here, followed instructions, and it was solved.

More importantly, why have you not done what I recommended?

At the same time? Or did you set one up as new, pair the devices again, then set the other one as new, and pair them again?

Because others in this thread have done the exact same procedure of restoring and setting up both the iPhone and watch as new to find out the problem is not fixed so I'm not willing to waste a few hours of restoring my watch and phone just to mess around.

No. Wiped both clean and the paired new.

That's my point. I've done this multiple times and been able to reproduce.

So, you'd rather waste the time in here discussing the problem?

The solution may be right before you, and you will not try it, because in a place where some people say that has solved it, others say that has not solved it? You know that makes no sense.

Nobody will be able to tell you what will definitely solve the issue for you. I read up to age 19, while trying everything I saw, before I decided to format the phone.

Second, I'm not sure what you're doing that makes the backup + restore process take hours. I did that after it had already been 2 hours of trying every little thing. The backup + restore process took 30 minutes.

Also, I look back, and my initial post, where I said I went through everything and solved it, was on January 7th. The last update to CNN was released on January 5th. That would mean it was definitely native before I got it.

You should just go ahead and try it...no matter what, unless Apple releases an update that fixes this, you're likely going to have to take somebody's word for it and try something.

Again, restoring and setting up both the watch and the iPhone are not a solution to this problem as several people in this thread tried this method and it did not work to solve this bug.

So my latest 'fail' was accidentally putting my phone into Airplane mode which did the same for the watch. <Bang> dead. Same few native apps failed to work again: CNN, Storm, Tweetbot while others keep plugging away.

Removed all music from iTunes and <shazam> they work again. So for now I disabled the airplane mode sync and will be reloading music before heading out for the week again.

<sigh>

Saying "again" and using a flawed argument does not change reality. You've asked me twice for a solution now, and I've offered to help, but you're now refusing to take my advice. I have to assume you're not really looking for a solution. People have done different things and had success. If you're looking for a solution, and you're trying to decide what will and won't work, without trying, you're extremely likely going to forever have an Apple Watch that cannot load native apps. Take it from somebody with tech support experience, that's not how the game is played.

Good luck with whatever it is you seek.

Something just occurred to me...when you set both devices up as new, did you do the restore BEFORE pairing the watch and the phone?

I have reinstalled each device from the ground up - no restores of any kind. So wipe each, pair and install apps as if new.

One thing occurred to me. In a separate thread, I'm seeing references to 'native apps' being distinguished by the name in the top left as opposed to underneath the spinner. If that's true, the apps that are failing appear to be more non-native than native. CNN I think also loads underneath the spinner.

Not sure this really helps much but each time, I'm trying to narrow down the triggering event.

I did not know this. That seems to be true. I just checked, and the Nike+ Running app is under the spinner, and I know it's not native from using it. Another thing that can be done is disconnecting your phone from Wifi and bluetooth and seeing which watch apps are still fully functional, but you'd need the apps to work in the first place, in order for that to be effective.

One other way is checking the version history in the watch app store. That is how I knew CNN was definitely native before I got it, because I had just got my watch and I was just starting to put 3rd party apps on it.

That last statement is what I was trying to express to the other guy. You want to narrow things down. Why would you care about what didn't work for a few others if it works for you?

So now you know it's either 3rd party apps, in general, or 3rd party native apps + non-native 3rd party apps which just happen to be buggy. The first one is more likely.

I know this really isn't a realistic solution, but have you seen what happens when you get things working, then reboot the watch without having placed music back onto the phone beforehand? I'm saying this to say I'm wondering what may happen if there is no music there to delete. Wondering if the problem actually comes back.

Also, is your watch on firmware 2.1?
