"Thick antenna bands"? Come on. Yes there are antenna bands. Am I the only one that doesn't mind them? "Thick" is not the adjective I'd use.

Looks like a nice update to the iPhone. I agree with others that the protruding lense is something that should have been avoided. The idea of using a case to balance out the back is ridiculous. I want to keep the form factor as close to the original as possible, although I will add our wood wrap to the screen and back, but it won't make for the height of the lense as the wood is just .010" / .254mm thick.

I am looking forward to the larger size, but I too would like to see Apple go the other direction as they did with the iPod and iPad and make a smaller iPhone. This push for ever bigger screens has gone about as far as it should in my opinion.

I'm hoping for the iPhone 6(S) release next year Apple will bring back the all black colour. I like it a bit more than the space black but I will say the iPhone 6 looks sexy regardless.

Looks legit to me. My only complaint is that if this is the final look of the space grey it's rather dull. I'd prefer black/slate.

Really curious about total weight of the 4.7" model. Especially if it will weigh less than the 5/5S. It's thinner but taller and wider so who knows.

Touch ID looks bigger. Protruding lens doesn't bother me. Rounded corners was a must IMO. Hated the hard edges of the 4/4S/5/5S.

I have a current ipod touch and the protuding camera hasn't bothered me one bit. I am guessing I will still prefer it to to the iphone 6, smaller and 88 grams is aweseome.

Anyone else not excited for this size increase? the 5 was pushing it enough compared to the 4s, now I would rather have a 2.5-3" iphone mini than the iphone 6.

it's like people clamoring for smaller TVs...yep, I don't know any either. :D

Isn't OIS the only excuse for protruding lens? What else makes the Z index larger? Not megapixels. Maybe a zoom lens but then it would most likely be adjustable which means it wouldn't protrude when off.

Good so I'm not crazy - I just haven't anyone saying it is all. I'm on board with OIS - I struggle to get sharp images and I'll be covering the back with a case anyhow.

As someone who had and loved the Palm Pre and HP Veer I can tell you that you don't want something that small if you ever want to web browse or watch video.

Some folks should just stick with flip phones cuz well smartphones are probably just too smart..with all that web browsing and other cool data hogging features.

I seriously do not understand anyone's reasoning for smaller screens. Those that are probably never realize their phones full potential so they cannot understand the seasonings for bigger screens. Email and web browsing are two big things that really suck on small screens. Two things that are very practical and needed on my phone.

Why do people care so much about a slightly 'protruding' camera? ...../QUOTE]

I dunno, I have a Nexus 5 with a protruding camera with a case over it so it's a moot point really. Those that claim they don't put cases on a $650 phone is just crazy to me. Yes, I have dropped my phone a few times but with a case on it keeps it in fantastic condition but then again I'm in a no-contract situation so my out-of-pocket costs were a bit more upfront and way cheaper in the monthly cell bills.

It's the same for those that love to finance cars vs us that buy cars out right. Majority that finance take less good care of their stuff than those who buy upfront.

I'm thinking it might be a magnetic lens attachment ring.
If it were flush, the magnetically attached lens might still be off-center slightly.
And that would wreak havoc on image quality. The ring could keep the attachment lens perfectly aligned.
But there would be no screw threads or other locking mechanisms.
Think of it as an inverted Nikon bayonet mount without the quarter-turn lock.

I think this would only be pursued by third-party companies and not Apple.

It's not something I see Apple ever doing given their penchant for simplicity.

I would have much preferred they make it a little bit thicker, just enough to keep the camera from jutting out, and then give me as much extra battery life as possible.

Does anyone find it a little bit odd that they make a point in stating that the front facing camera is placed to the left of the front facing speaker like on the 4S, and it is on the black faceplate, but when they remove it and show the white faceplate, the front facing camera hole is clearly above the front facing speaker and not to the left? The bezels on the white faceplate also look larger.

Just throwing that out there, something to discuss. Unless I'm an idiot and mistaking something, my apologies.

I was also quite surprised at the bezel thickness of the white face place. Maybe its from a goophone?

Very possible.

On second look, there is only a hole (I don't know what other word to use here) to the left of the speaker on the black faceplate, but the white one has a hole to the left and on top. One of these is obviously not a final faceplate.

Dont all the white covers have an extra hole for the sensor? Something to do with it not working good with white covers?

This kind of features is more a gimmick than benefit, seriously.

Yeah it's a gimmick I and many others use and enjoy every day. I can't even remember the last time I plugged my phone in to charge. I think iPhone users would really love and enjoy this gimmick.
