I wonder if this new design language will transfer to the Macbook Pro...

Would looove to see a rounded rMBP in space grey! Almost reminiscent of the last polycarbonate MacBooks.

Also, why haven't they made the rear apple logo light up yet? must be they're saving it for the 6s :D

If you read these comments 2 years ago, it was all "I would never buy a phone that big", "steve said you can't use them one handed", "I laughed so hard today seen someone talking on a 4.7 inch phone ahhahaha he looked so dumb" "hahahaha look at that android phone, I can't believe people are stupid enough to carry a phone that big"

hypocrites

Dont all the white covers have an extra hole for the sensor? Something to do with it not working good with white covers?

You could be right, I don't know, but I believe all 3 color ways of the iPhone 5S have both holes.

That being said, the bezels on the white faceplate in the video look noticeably larger than those on the black.

Ok, we get it, the iPhone 6 is real and is gonna be released in the next 2-3 weeks. The phone actually exists and it boots up and everything! Now let's focus our attention to that mythical iWatch. The iPhone 6 (in 2 sizes) is almost as good as confirmed (almost as bad as Gizmodo's infamous iPhone 4 "leak" prior to release).

I was hoping the mockups were wrong. But this is it, the new iPhone 6 is design failure in every way... I really don't want to switch to Android or worse (Windows). So I'll stick to my gorgeous 5s as long as possible for the next couple of years.

Failure in every way? From the looks of it, they might have made the most usable large screen smartphone in existence. It's thinner and the curves probably make it more comfortable in hand. It finds a way around the "metal = solid but bad for radios" dilemma. The video says the TouchID sensor is bigger. And we all know it's going to have a faster processor, beautiful camera, and probably faster wireless.

I guess one person's "better in every way" is another person's hyperbolic "Failure in every way". Oh well, no one's forcing you to buy it!

I think the camera sticking out actually serves a design function. It protects the back from getting scratched by random crud on the surface the phone rests on. Also, I can see them making that chrome ring around the camera out of the snazzy liquid alloy metal they keep hyping. So you have a sapphire/super hard metal and the phone's base contact with the table surface instead of the entire back surface of the phone.

It would be such an insignificant angle created that a large portion of the back of the device would probably still sit on the surface, and if anything you'll notice a disproportionate amount of wear and tear on the back which would look worse than a comprehensive scuffing / "patina."

I think they've just reached the physical limit of the necessary distance between elements in the camera necessary to bend the light to the sensor and this is as thin as it can go.

I really wish Apple would release a revised 4", 4.7" and 5.5" iPhone 6. I would stay with the current 4" form factor, but it doesn't appear that way. Only way for me to get an iPhone is to go bigger it seems......which I would rather no do.

The design looks fantastic though. I wasn't a fan of the white bands, but color matched looks decent. The rounded edge of the glass is a nice touch.

look at the laws written 200 years ago. it's illegal to have ice cream in your back pocket on a sidewalk, you can't walk and chew gum at the same time ...

Sh** changes. So do people. I never once made fun of my android users for their screen size- just their screen quality  but seriously, we can say what you're saying about literally everything. I'm willing to be 90% of all people are close minded like you and are positive they don't like something... until they try it.

Am I being too nit-picky to think the protruding lens is almost a deal breaker for me? Or, at least not inline with Apple's design aesthetic philosophy?

Same for me. I can wait for iPhone 7. Seems a very weird design choice. I like to carry and use the iPhone naked. With this lens stuck out it will get stuck in places.

There is admittedly SOME blind acceptance of Apple's decisions once in awhile. And Apple was indeed the last to arrive to the big screen market. But that doesn't mean people are hypocrites.

In 2012, this was an example of a 4.7-inch phone:

TITAN-2-1.jpg

The HTC Titan was 50% heavier and 30% thicker than an iPhone 5. Even the Galaxy SIII was better, but was still 20% heavier, had thick bezels/top/bottom and arguably had very few concessions to physical usability or app compatibility.

In 2014, the iPhone 6 is rumored to be 7 mm thin with perfectly rounded edges and minimal bezels. It will feature predictive typing, persistent back swipe gestures, and a home button sensor that enters your passwords. It has full control over the OS' resolution and has planted the seeds for devs to do the same for their apps. So yes, Apple was late to the game - but don't act like the iPhone 6 doesn't hold some appreciable advantages over early big screen phones, the 2012 iPhone 5/iOS 6, or even today's competitors. By all appearances, it will have mitigated all of big screens' drawbacks through a combination of thoughtful hardware and software design.

Does the above pic even compare to this?

You are right of course but we are all fickle. That’s what it is to be human. Having said that there is a difference between fickle and downright blinded by Ive, which some here seem to be.

Yep. That analogy works well. NOT!

I like everything on the iPhone 6 except Apple did not color in the antenna separators - top and bottom of the back cover. Not sure why Apple left this out! But everything looks okay otherwise. Nice to get a preview before the unvailing on the 9th!

I still hope for an updated iPhone 6C which hopefully stays at 4" and uses the same back colors but with a white front.

The sticking camera lens looks not bad at all

Sorry but that whole thing looks a bit of a mess, if any other phone manufacturer put that out it would be mocked thoroughly here. It's like Apple put the shiny metal logo in to distract from the rest of the back of the phone...

I would of preferred Apple had made the phone a few millimetres thicker to hide the camera bump and keep the whole design flush with the case. They could also use that extra space to make the battery bigger.

I suppose some smart person will have a case that hides the bump so it's not a deal breaker

Titan is from late 2011, so the comparison would be with 4s .

Just take samsung galaxy Nexus

http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4219&idPhone2=4212

Lighter , same PPI, more ram simular soc (only GPU is better on iphone)

He is right if you read the comments on the "large" & "heavy" 4.3 - 4.7 5+ " devices over the years , a lot of thiose people will buy a 4.7 or largher iphone not becuase they suddenly shrunk them or reduced weight drasticly no but because its apple now.
