Your problem is your 3G phone. Upgrade or be left behind.

I have a iPhone 4 with ios 4.0.2 and the same thing is happening to me. I'm wondering what the issue is. I'm starting a restore just to see if that helps. I want my flix.

Edit : Restore finished with backup settings, same effect. Try to start viewing a movie. It switches to the Loading Movie... screen and then quits and brings up the movie selection page.

Edit: Just for grins, I restored and set up as a new phone and only put the app on. Same effect. I tried to start viewing a movie, it switches to the Loading Movie... screen waits a few seconds and returns to the movie selection page.

Too little too late.

After being a Netflix subscriber for 10 years I switched to Blockbuster. Why? They don't charge me extra for blu-ray discs and they do games as well.

The Netflix app on my iPad was interesting, but almost never used. I just don't care about streaming video. I care about quality. Streaming standard def video doesn't even begin to approach DVD quality. Streaming high definition video is so far behind blu-ray disc that, at this point, it'll take a decade or more to catch up.

I'd rather have games and get my blu-ray discs cheaper.

I really hope this app supports 720p video on the iPhone 4 like it does on the iPad. Lower resolution videos don't look that good on the iPhone 4.

You have to thanks Netflix for what you are getting from Blockbuster.

Wow. Between this and other streaming sites I've used 2.5GB in 2 days, 9 hours. Thank God for unlimited.

I am really disappointed today after updating both my iphone and ipad with Netflix I found that neither will stream over wifi.. App loads looks like it will play than back to the queue. On 3G it works but if I enable wifi it wont work..

Im not the only one with this issue anyone know why!??????????

it’s possible that if you are using an iPhone or a 3G enabled iPad that it will only allow you to stream over 3g, but I have an iPod touch and (obviously) it only works over wifi.

I doubt this is the case and you are probably having a strange issue, but it is possible.

Good for you. But who cares. This is about Netflix, not the soon to be defunct busted Blockbuster.

yes the quality is amazing even the Starz movies look great which are crap looking if you watch it on a ps3/360.

HEY HULU+!

Netflix has almost same shows for the iphone available to stream for a 1$ less...oh and wait for it.......NO ADS!

Both have a limited assortment of shows.
Hulu has the most recent episodes (as well as select full seasons) while netflix has full seasons for almost every show (whether it be streaming or not).

glad the app is out. lame that it's one of those not optimized for the Retina display. Kind of inexcusable that the interface icons aren't high res since this is shipping two months after the iPhone 4 release.

not everyone has a retina display. it's not on the 3gs or the touch or even the ipad. Thus why they aren't catering just to those that do

umm you're going to find yourself with a hefty bill. unlimited is not really unlimited. it's maxed at 5GB. slow down and research these things first.

Just researched...i don't know if I'm right. Hmm...someone let me know.

Me too! I just burned through at least 500MB just today, mainly due to the Netflix app. Soooooo glad I was grandfathered in from my original iPhone!

Before I bought the iP4 I was seriously considering knocking out of the unlimited and trying the 200MB monthly plan to save costs somewhere. But I knew I needed to wait and see how a few months of 3G on the iP4 was going to affect my usage when compared to the EDGE network on my original iPhone. Guess Daddy's staying with the unlimited plan!

Just wait... because of the Netflix app today, AT$T will take the unlimited plan away from those of us grandfathered in.

You can fight it if they try to pull that with you... at least the first time it happens.

I've heard of people getting hit with a bill because they went over the 5GB cap but after a phone call and a little arguing about the "unlimited" name placed on the plan they were told that they would cancel out the extra billing and that if it happened again they would have to pay the extra amount.

How much time do you spend staring at the home screen. So what the icon is not "optimized".

If I didn't care about a higher standard of quality, I'd buy any number of Windows, Nokia or Google junk phones and deal with a dozen variations of their OS and almost no consistency with the look and feel of apps in their stores. I expect better and thankfully so does (typically) Apple.

Sounds like a lot is getting done in the office today, eh? :)

lol, ummmm, no....hahaha, work is at a standstill for me and my 5 coworkers!

Actually you're wrong, the iPhone is truly unlimited, read the fine print and the numeorus threads and articles confirming this....

I'm grandfathered in to the older plan which is "unlimited" but really isn't it capped at 5gigs?

it's not a firm cap. Apparently there is something in the T&C about having a right to cap users that go over 5gb but I suspect they only do it if you constantly go way over.

As for the other folks, the reason they set the cap at 2gb is because they want to encourage heavy users to use wifi which i'm sure works just dandy with this app. What probably doesn't work but hopefully one day will for all apps is seamless switching between wifi and 3g so if you enter a known network the device jumps over without you seeing any pauses etc.

If you read the AT&T terms of service, you will find that the iPhone plan is indeed truly unlimited. People have went as high as 100gb on this forum, and I personally have went over 10, in one month (w/o tethering).

has anyone figured out how to save items to view later? I acouple articles I read mentioned that the app offered the ability to store shows/movies on the iphone to watch later with no connection (like on an airplane)... but I don't see it anywhere within the app.

Looks like Netflix has continued their push towards an on-demand future in which discs don't exist.

I can't believe they don't give any ability to manage my physical disc queue with this application.

Pathetic.

I finally got it working - turns out I was entering the wrong password. Oops. Unfortunately the app does not tell you your password is incorrect. It simply times out. Oops.

Now, Netflix, all I need is disc-less PS3 access, so please hurry with that!

I believe the disk is a way to work around an exclusivity deal with microsoft (I assume it only covers game consoles).

You know, I do feel bad for blockbuster in some ways. Many of their stores have closed around my area.. making the whole trip on a rainy friday night to cruise the aisles for something to watch from blockbuster almost non existent anymore.

Times have changed indeed.
