Wait a minute. Can you stream from UK? I thought you can only watch it with US IP addresses, no?

Also, I wish the app would also allow to manage your Disc Queue.

Yeah I managed to get it working for a few minutes using a VPN, but it's really fiddly and I can't quite get it running again. It can be done.

I believe the disk is a way to work around an exclusivity deal with microsoft (I assume it only covers game consoles).

Yes, this is correct. Netflix promised disc-less PS3 access in "the fall" I believe. I'm hoping that means September and not December.

I have full service, always have in my area, and it buffers endlessly on all of my streaming apps.

Then you don't have full service. You have 5 bars which simply means that you have so many towers in the area that you are always geographically near one of them. That's all the bars mean. They don't relate to the traffic on those towers which are likely often to always congested. Not so much at a voice call drops but enough that long term data use (like streaming a video) fails.

This is the exact issue Jobs spoke about during his little press conference. Folks believing bars = reception. but it doesn't thus you can have 1 bar and no issues or as you have 4-5 bars and issues galore.

Looks like Netflix has continued their push towards an on-demand future in which discs don't exist.

I can't believe they don't give any ability to manage my physical disc queue with this application.

Pathetic.

Right now the app is for streaming. If you want to play with your disk play with them elsewhere. There are many alternatives.

For an app that is fairly new, I was hoping for retina display graphics , and obviously fast app switching, I'm sure this application was in development before the iPhone 4 came out, and hopefully they will update soon. Other then that it's going to be pretty cool to watch Netflix.

The iPad app is also for streaming but lets you manage your disc queue. Duh.

You know, I do feel bad for blockbuster in some ways. Many of their stores have closed around my area.. making the whole trip on a rainy friday night to cruise the aisles for something to watch from blockbuster almost non existent anymore.

Times have changed indeed.

Yup. Know what you mean. But that model is going the way of the Betamax. Blockbuster needs to drop the B&M, go total mail and streaming, or at the least put a vending machine in every major supermarket in America.

Okay. I have a few problems with this app. The first one is with the search section. After pressing the search box in the search section, the app zooms in. The only way to zoom out is to double tap somewhere on the screen. The app should not behave like this.
Examples:
content
content

The other problem is that they modified UIScrollView so that as soon as you take your finger off of the screen, the momentum dies and is limited to a very slow, annoying speed.

Managing DVD disk queues you can't even view on the road on the real estate the iphone offers is so what. If this is a no go for you then that sucks for you. Me, I'm statified I can view on the ipad, iphone, itouch, xbox, ps3, wii, BD player, PC, TV.

Your negativity is wasted here. If managing queues, retina display, HD Netflix splash screens, Retina optimized Netflix icons really bother you, MR can't help. Tell Netflix you refuse to use their free iPhone app for streaming until they give you everything you demand.

And theres no, ‘one device at a time’ limit too. I love that about Netflix.

Someone must have spanked off in your Cheerios this morning or maybe you are always this way? Did it occur to you that those of us who rent discs actually contribute more to Netflix bottom line than those who have the minimum $8.99 a month plan and get all (or most) of their content via streaming? Maybe the shiny new application that's been in development for over a year now should actually give us a few bread crumbs too, even if our viewing is split 75/25 between Blu-ray rentals and streaming?

If I am out on the road and want to reorganize my disc queue because I happened to stuff some discs back in the mail that morning I should not have to use the full Netflix website or one of many painfully low quality app store tools to do the job, I should be able to do it through the Netflix (tm) branded app.

Despite what you think, you don't control this discussion thread, which is for feedback about this application and not all of us are as easily wowed as you are when basic Netflix queue management is missing. Maybe if Netflix is monitoring they will consider adding this in the near future as I'm sure a poll would prove that many would like this additional feature.

Feel free to have the last word though, we all know you will anyway.

I have a iPhone 4 with ios 4.0.2 and the same thing is happening to me. I'm wondering what the issue is. I'm starting a restore just to see if that helps. I want my flix.

Edit : Restore finished with backup settings, same effect. Try to start viewing a movie. It switches to the Loading Movie... screen and then quits and brings up the movie selection page.

Edit: Just for grins, I restored and set up as a new phone and only put the app on. Same effect. I tried to start viewing a movie, it switches to the Loading Movie... screen waits a few seconds and returns to the movie selection page.

I'm having the exact same problem.

glad the app is out. lame that it's one of those not optimized for the Retina display. Kind of inexcusable that the interface icons aren't high res since this is shipping two months after the iPhone 4 release. I can understand all of their movie artwork not yet being optimized but the splash screen and interface? Lame.

Why the hell does it matter if the icons are hi res? Are you staring at the icons all day? The video is pretty sweet so why complain about the stupid icons?

Well then this app will suck for you until they give you what you want. Too bad, life and apps don't always work in your favor. Enjoy what you have. Somehow you managed to change your queue in the past, I'm sure you can jog your brain an figure out how to do it again. It's not like you can't do it at all on the iphone.

Sounds like what you want you don't want bad enough. Otherwise you and the other whiners would be pooling your efforts in a mass email campaign to Netflix instead of crying a river about DVD management here.

This app would be pointless in the UK (to those iPhone 4 users who want it) as all our networks have 500mb / 750mb monthly caps now.

I've been waiting for this forever, and it's awesome.

Need to watch this classic again :D

How is Neflix's instant queue selection these days anyway? I was very unimpressed when I did my 30-day trial a month or two ago. Are new DVD releases now available for instant streaming?

Proud to be an American where at least I know I"m gonna get Netflix on my iPhone.:D

I doubt Netflix will add AV-out support because they'd rather users try an alternative instead of inconveniently controlling Instant Watch on an iPhone connected to a TV in the lower-than-720p resolution AV out through the dock connector is currently capable of.

It's inexcusable how a big company takes five months to release this after the iPad version came out and the menus and icons don't even support the iPhone 4 despite the iPhone 4 being out for over two and a half months. The iPad version's interface had literally no thought added because it's just the Watch Instantly website that is loaded. I hope they add iPad-native menus, too soon.

I'm having this problem as well. Anyone found a fix yet?

edit: playing on 3g works. But as soon as I turn my wi-fi on, when I hit play, it will bring up the player for 1 sec or so, then go back to the movie page.
