It’s a freaking dollar. A month. 12 per year. 3 cents a day. I can literally find that in my cup holder in my car. Or you could maybe cut out 2 coffee runs....a year, for you know, hours and hours of entertainment. Btw, you’re on a Apple forum complaining about one dollar a month.

Not a dollar a month, actually 3 in the last year, to be accurate. You might be a salesman's dream come true, only $ a month for the rest of your life.

I don't think cord cutting is just about money. If I want to watch a certain movie, I can just go to one of the services and most likely stream it. Same with shows.

Can Comcast do that? Can I decide to watch a show when I want to and not care about when THEY decide I want to watch it?
Yes to an extent, Comcast will let you rewatch a missed show using on demand and there is the Xfinity app so you can also watch on the go but they don't last forever they usually tell you when the movie or show will expire. Of course for all this you pay a monthly cost for cable which for me bundles with TV Internet and phone for about $120.00 a month.

Is anyone surprised? Expect this to be $15 /month within a few years.

I agree. Netflix's spending is out of control and unsustainable in the long run: $100 million on Jerry Seinfeld, $50 million on Dave Chappelle, $40 million on Chris Rock, etc. I think anything above $12 and they will start losing customers to other services especially considering how much 3rd party content they've lost in the last few years and how competitive the other streamers are becoming.

This means that those who now pay $9.99/month to stream on two screens at once (the standard tier) will be paying $10.99/month soon.

No we won't.

If Netflix loses 10% of their customers over this price increase (which is likely) the net result will equal zero.

Netflix, $13.99
Hulu, $7.99
DirecTVNow, $35
YouTube Red, $9.99
Amazon, $8.25
= $75 a month

Yeah, take that Comcast. Cord cutting is WAY cheaper than having just one bill with 250 channels.

I've been saying that for so long, this is so stupid, plus you have to add $50 dlls for internet, cord cutting is not a cheap option since you can't get 5-10 channels, it bundled just like regular Cable/Satellite.

Just the other day I wanted to try Sling TV, it has to be the worst, slow app on Roku 3, clutter, no real guide like DirecTV or Spectrum and the price!!! 123dlls + 50dll internet, so stupid, and I didn't pick all the channels available.

I doubt it. There was an uproar over the last price increase and Netflix had record quarterly results. I think most people will complain but continue paying for Netflix.

It's not the point of a dollar. I would not complain if Netflix did not take away about 90% of what I was watching. Yes this year there is nothing left. I hate most of the original content for it's mature themes of sex and swearing. Really NF should be getting more licensed content not more original crap which is why I did not like the last dollar increase and don't like it now.

The service is a joke when there is cheaper competition with much better licensed content. I hope NF goes under in 2019 when they lose Disney and wait raise the rates again for more TV-MA content that will replace the Disney content.

Not surprising. Didn't expect them to be able to invest over $1 billion this year in original content without continued price hikes. We'll continue to see these happen every 6-months to year going forward.
$6 billion. Netflix invested $6 billion in content this year and rumored to spend even more for 2018. Apple is rumored to be spending $1 billion on content.

I think this is a result of some of the licensing deals. They reportedly paid Jerry Seinfeld 100 million.

I'll keep my Netflix subscription as long as I remain on my grandfathered $8/month price (HD, 2 screens). I also buy iTunes gift cards for 15% off (used to be cheaper but 15% is about as good as it gets now) so it really is only $6.80 / month. If my price goes up at some point, I just stick with Amazon Prime Video.

People will still pay it...Netflix knows your not going to buy an apple product for hundreds of dollars and then be worried about paying an additional $1.00 a month. Lol hey Netflix why not charge 2.00 more we will still pay it.

Oh heck...$5.00 more :D

They keep removing dozens of tv shows and movies every month (hundreds annually), and they want to increase their price?!

Hulu and Amazon are way better it seems by the day.

You do realize that the reason those shows and movies go away is because the movie house's and other content producers raise the licensing fees. This is #1 reason why Netflix produces it OWN content now. A good thing. Going to Amazon and Hulu won't shield you. They have the same issues with content that isn't theirs. When the networks and movie houses raise licensing fees on them it will be the same way.

That would be great. When I subscribed to Netflix, it was for movies and shows that I already know and like, not some new crappy Adam Sandler "exclusive" movie or a prison comedy. I don't want to pay increased prices so they can go off into experimentation land and become a studio making things I'm not interested in watching.

Yes, I really don't care about Adam Sandler, and the thing is everyone says Netflix has the best series, well yes, they have 3 or 4 really good series, but they also have 20 - 30 crap series, just like every other TV Channel.

What's their anime selection like?

Well if 85% of there content was not mature but it is. Really first they ruined Marvel for me making that mature which was the last price increase.

Then I was looking forward to Castelvania they ruined that making that mature and gross. Then they even ruined one of my favorite country singers Brad Praisy making his show mature.

Really and losing Disney for there crappy Millarworld which produces adult comics.

Also don't forget the flank they got for there "kids" series of a drawn penis and there new mature cartoon about kids that have sex and can warp people into being sex offenders. Netflix should rename there company Netfilth.

It sucks. They don't even have complete seasons. Get Funimation (if you liked dubbed and older animie which I like) or Crunchroll (if you like sub and newer which I hate subtitles) and even Hulu has better animie too.

They also add dozens of movies and TV shows each month, I think on balance their catalogue size stays pretty consistent, original content aside.

No, no, Tivo is a DVR. That means I have to actively know what shows I want to watch and tell it to record those. That's not the same.
No, no, Tivo is not just a DVR. Fixed that for you, from a 500GB Bolt owner. :D That model is either a cablecard or an OTA STB, with decent apps for several streaming services, while the Bolts with bigger drives are cablecard-only.

Netflix, separate Amazon Video and Amazon Video Prime apps, HBO Go, Hulu, YouTube, Plex, EPIX, Vudu, Vevo, Ameba TV, WWE, Baeble Music, Yahoo, ALT Channel, IGN, Tastemade, and several more. They also include "TiVo Suggestions" - shows recorded that supposedly align with personal tastes - but I have that feature disabled.

I use a Slide Pro Remote, the keyboard makes search a breeze - unified search across channels and apps. A Bolt in my field office is connected to CL Fiber and a Winegard HD antenna, it's fantastic. My home Bolt is connected to Comcast and also gets their Streampix (hundreds of movies and TV shows in that archive…). And, I can upload any stored recording to my iPad with their app. No, it's not perfect - I actually brought in an X1 to try out, brought it back a couple of days ago as I couldn't deal with only one active channel (the Bolt I have has up to 4) and the X1 remote is too dumbed down compared to the Slide Pro (and TiVo's submitted a voice controlled remote to the FCC, but I'm sticking with the Slide Pro). Cheers…

Yes you can, that's why this cord cutting seems to me just a hipster thing for people ditching cable, just the other day I tried HBO Now and I can't remember which series, but it was an HBO original and they only had it from season 5 or 6, like really, they did not had the whole series, then that bitch about people pirating stuff.

1$ more a month is alright with me, I use Netflix so much and several of their originals are really good. And since Apple keeps raising and raising the prices on their products I'm starting to get desensitized (<- joke, somewhat).
