Actually, it's *simpler*. All they had to do was - NOTHING. They had to go out of their way and click the box to DENY the app for Vision Pro. The default for all iPad apps is to be available.

Yup, the CEO's response pretty much validates my decision to no longer be a subscriber. Hey genius, how does a platform scale up? By actually having content providers on it, dumbo! It would not have cost you that much relative to the benefits. Vision Pro is going to be the next iPod as Apple offers different models and price ranges.

Is there actually a market for people who want to watch Netflix with a headset?

I'll count you as one of the people that still doesn't truly understand what The Vision Pro is ushering in yet. 🙃 There might be millions of Quest headsets on the market, but the Vision Pro is in an entirely different category that most people can't quite comprehend until they try it.

idk why people are acting shocked by this, this is the same logic as to why most companies dont port AAA games to macOS. The userbase isnt there to justify allocating resources to it.

"but they can just use the iPad app!!"
if they did this, people would've complained about how awful it is

"they should be investing early in le next paradigm shift!!"
I dont blame anyone for being weary about a new platform that Apple themselves doesn't even seem that enthusiastic about and requiring $3500+ hardware that only .0000001% of the population will ever own.

We're shocked by the lousy attitude that he exhibits. It's insulting to his own customers, and it comes across as Apple-hate, probably because Apple is a direct competitor with Apple TV+.

Anyone bringing up the price and calling the product a market flop because of the high price tag is completely ignoring the "VisionOS" platform that the Vision Pro headset is bringing. We're going to see VisionOS running on more headsets and possibly even projector-like devices in the future.

This is just the start of something entirely new...

In the meantime in real world: Netflix’s gains 13M new global 4Q subscribers. Does it give you some idea why they don't care about 80K Vision Pro owners (most of whom might return their purchases in two weeks)?

Would have been good if a separate app was available. But using Safari to access it seems to be ok for now

Has anyone used the Netflix app for Quest? Last I used it, it was trash. I was hoping to look at a drive-in-sized screen. Instead they show you a large tv-sized screen and just bring it 3 feet from your face.

It wasn’t made by Netflix but a single 3rd party dude and it hasnt been updated in a long time and even only supports 420p. I thought the screen was big enough though, especially giving the fact that its only 420p, anything bigger would have looked even worse

The Vision Pro is quite expensive, but for a Netflix subscription you also have to be somewhat rich, as they pay money every month for content that is available for free on some Russian websites. Just think about how much a Netflix subscription costs per decade.

Offering an existing iPad app on Vision Pro doesn’t take any work — you just check a box. Apple is a competitor to Netflix, Google, and Spotify — those companies are claiming the audience is too small right now for them to care, when in fact they are just being lazy. They seem to care less about their users that would prefer using an app instead of the web.

I've been wondering this myself ever since they launched Apple TV+. It's very clear that they're going pretty full bore into the streaming market, calculating Oscar and Emmy wins, etc. The only thing Apple TV+ lacks, aside from a decent UI and user experience, is content. They could get the breadth and scope of content they really need to justify their ridiculous price increase by spending some of those trillions on buying Netflix outright.

In one respect I kinda hope they don't do this 'cause there's been a detrimental amalgamation of studios over the last decade or so and that's not a trend I want to see continue, but on the other hand... at least then I wouldn't have to sail the high seas so much...
I think purchasing Netflix would accelerate the price hikes. We would see $15.99 a month, maybe even $19.99 or higher sooner. We probably would also see a plan with ads starting at $12.99 a month.

It's fine. Makes life easier for me. I'll just keep my Disney, Max and Apple TV+ subscriptions. That's more content than I can watch anyway.

Is there a special version of Netflix for Shield? Shield runs standard Android TV OS, which is installed on many devices, including Sony TVs.

when shield first came out, Netflix wrote special features to support 4k/5.1 stereo on the shield since it was the only device that could handle it for TV.

Netflix is also a launch app for Meta Quest 1. Quest 1 had roughly 13k sales in the first 2 weeks. Vision Pro has reportedly sold 180k already.

Wow. Then why they are not publishing an app for macs? Why? They can share iphone app for macs with zero effort.

Netflix just a liar and low iq company. Nothing more.

I dont know why youd want to watch a flatscreen TV show on a headset, but i remember when the oculus came out it was already doing live sports and concerts in virtual reality - i watched an NBA game from the courtside and a comedy gig from one of the tables up the front. But the resolution was a load of rubbish with oculus, so it never took off. but watching live shows on headsets could be good (when the price comes down)
